It's not as popular as the bigboys like SFV/tekken but not as ded as the niche anime fighters. Under normal circumstances it won't take long at all to find a match but there's a good chance the opponent will shit on you (until you've gotten gud).
But this is a good time to play since a bunch of people came back for Haohmaru and the game's only $15 on key sites atm.

I'm much more interested in SC3 HD, with the AE balance updates and bug fixes combined with the singleplayer, and online multiplayer.

Haohmaru's pretty interesting, they went with a Smash approach where he just plays like himself in comparison to all the other Soulcalibur characters and the other guest newcomers that were adapted.
