>People still saying it's bad
The only thing they screwed up was the Bowser fights where having an analogue stick to spin him makes it a lot easier. Everything else is stupid MUH GRAPHICS!!! shit.
Yeah
>SUPER AIDS with analog controls
This has been a dream of mine since it came out. I know Nintendo would never do it, but having the option to play the original and 64DS would be tremendous.
I hope it's not 64 in the Odyssey engine
That was one of the easiest things to do with the D Pad are you retarded? The hard part were the godawful camera controls, not the actual movement.
I wouldn't mind a redo of what 64DS was going for, but they need to fix a lot more than just the controls.
Like rebalancing the characters.
We won’t get this remastered because Wario is in it.
We’re just getting a remaster of the 64 original.
How can anyone reasonably argue that the original is better? More stars, 4x the playable characters, fantastic looking graphics that don't give you eye strain, way better minigames. Comeon boomers, just give it up.
>64 in Odyssey's engine
This would legitimately possibly make me cry. Thank you but fuck you for putting that thought into my brain.
why is wario bad?
Wow I keep hearing about the 64DS enthusiasts and the amount of mental gymnastics they pull to explain why the game is better despite it's controls being absolute dogshit. You know, the ONE defining factor one would play a Mario game for.
Reminds me of pic related.
>remastered the ds version
>adds more content
>uses odyssey engine and graphics
>rebalancing the characters where Luigi doesn’t break the game and wario has his shoulder bash
>all characters can change outfits
I really want this but I know it’s not gonna happen because shiggy hates Wario and this is just gonna be a port of the n64 original
Miyamoto seems to hate anyone outside of Mario, Luigi, Princess and the toads
The controls aren't even bad, they work perfectly fine even without the touchpad. I've beaten the game with very little hiching from not using the touchpad.
miyamoto Hates characters that he didn’t create, that’s why you never see characters like daisy in mainline games.
Same thing happened with paper Mario.
Thanks, much better than the original game
The game that convinced me to get a DS when it launched. The game that got me to actually like Mario 64.
Great remaster. Highly recommended.
Aside the d-pad and the atrocious camera, I liked this game
Poker mini-game is the best mini-game, they should create a Mario-themed Clubhouse game
This is my goddamn dream
>35th
If it's a proper remaster that implements actual analog movement, I'll gladly take it.
Nice shade of green asshole, forgot to water the lawn?
>I beat the game
>therefore the controls are not shit
I also beat the game and if given the choice to replay it I'd play the 64 version any day because controlling Mario on the DS feels like absolute horse shit
64DS would definitely look good if it were made now.
Textures that aren't muddy and made overly bright because handheld screens still didn't have perfect lighting yet would be the biggest upgrade.
>playing Mario for the graphics
>doesn't mention the gimped 8 directional movement in a game hailed for its movement
I just switched to glideN64 plugin and there's all shadows under things, transparent boxes and shit that i forgot were ever there. God damn, the original looks so good. remaster not needed
It's an active battlefield. What do you expect, fucking pebble beach?
The lack of true analog made Mario 64DS feel like those damn Wii platformer clones. There is in fact a difference and its noticeable enough for me to dislike.
>nintendo
>putting gambling in their games anymore
You're jokinh right? You're arguing that the DS version had louder textures?
You really didn't think this on your own from getting to the end of Odyssey itself?
It's a bit too washed out but at the same time the original SM64 shade of green looks like ass for a different reason.
I understand why this was made, Nintendo wanted to show people that the ds could play 3D games, but couldn’t they put an analog stick on the ds like the 3ds? This game is a launch title, you’d think they would thought of that.
Nah, for it’s time, Mario64 controlled brilliantly, no other 3d platformer came close, others like Tomb Raider were good, but Mario nailed it, it *felt* awesome to play.
If you like the DS version, that’s cool, but to me it felt like an interesting tech demo, as opposed to game that was designed to be enjoyed.
I'm convinced the only people who say this are people who weren't born yet when Mario 64 came out and had to experience the game via the god awful DS remake and are insecure about the fact they played an objectively bad version of an old game.
And I say this as someone who was born in 1998.
>for its time
Mario 64 still controls the best of almost any 3D game to date even if the camera is insanely dated.
I have no idea how we've regressed so heavily from that time but every single 3D Mario game since has had nowhere near that level of control.
With all those SM64 hacks, how come someone hasn't made one where they add the extra content from this game?
this game would be perfect if they made it for the 3ds
I loved the DS64 controls. They're so satisfying to use that original Super Mario 64 is unplayable shit to me.
>Yas Forumsiggers still arguing about the grass texture
I thought you guys were better than this , also emulation's a thing if you don't want to use d-pad controls just use your fucking controller instead of spurging out on an anonymous imageboard over a decade old game that you don't even play anymore
Nigger, Mario Sunshine is my favorite Mario game and even I can admit that Galaxy and Odyssey control better than it. You're just looking at 64DS with rose colored glasses. True analog is objectively the best control scheme for a platformer.
8 directional movement is tied to the game's logic, zoom-zoom, no controller can fix a shitty game.
>Nintendo is rumored to make a Mario 64 remaster
>Yas Forums arguing that the original should be remastered not the remake
Why though? The only problem the ds version has is not having anolog controls, that can easily be fixed by Nintendo. You’re literally saying no to less content. However I will say Luigi is fucking broken and breaks the game after you unlock him.
The original game had jankier controls imo.
I think the DS version was snappier and that the touch screen added an extra playing field when fighting Bowser.
Tomb Raider is more interesting to play as a result for the time the games were released originally but I still think the DS remake is a lot more fun to play.
Also, the original was a lot eerier too, in a manner that it felt like something was trying to brainwash me as well, wheras the newer iteration kind of does away with it somewhat. I don't know what it was but hey, at least I can enjoy the game without worrying about it.
He hates anything he didn't come up with himself.
They thought moving with the touch screen would be able to make up for the analog controls. Mario 64 DS is pretty much the only DS game that expects you to use the thumb strap that the original DS came with that the later DS versions ditched.
Get rid of the run button and I'd be okay with this.
>thumb strap
I’ve never heard of that and had to look it up.
I thought it was a strap like the the one on the wii remote you would put on Incase you dropped the ds.
You can map a stick to the touch screen.
If they added legit analogue support, I would be more pleased with this than I would with standard SM64 remade in the Crash/Spyro remaster style.
>for it's time
Mario 64 controls better than a lot of modern games do, and not just Mario games either.
They won't. What said, Wario is ripped straight from Wario World and that is way too derivative from what Nintendo wants Mario to be. 64DS was a massive fluke. Ideally, you'd take the remake and refine the controls while adding more atop it without compromising any of the four characters.
The DS port is essentially a completely new game coded from the ground up. So if you were to try and take anything from it and put it back into the N64 version, you'd again have to essentially remake it from scratch.
Who remembers this being called Super Mario 64 x 4 when it was announced? Or am I hallucinating that?
They better give us the option to use the original soundtrack. It had so much soul.
That rings a bell to me.
It also seemed to be implying 4 player co-op but I think multiplayer was restricted to competitive and only a select few maps.
or you can just be not retarded and use the pen
It was called 64x4 and was gonna have more content, originally the game was both multiplayer and singleplayer gave you the option to switch characters at any time.
However it was all cut because the ds wasn’t powerful enough.
I'd take an HD Super Mario 64 port.
>I thought you guys were better than this
That was your first mistake.
Never assume Yas Forums is better than something.
