RE is dead in the water, Capcom has made and talked about 3 remake titles since releasing RE7 before they've mentioned anything about RE8. Even if RE8 was on the table I'd ask for Dragon's Dogma 2 instead, but that's another fucking pipe dream.

Sounds like it might be a VR title, but RE7 was a VR title as well so I don't see how that would be a radical departure.
VR was optional. I could see them going all in.
But the reality is most likely a shared online experience. Open world Racoon city with real survivors etc.

it's pretty much the X-files but set during the Great Depression of the 1930's. The game takes place over the course of a few years where each chapter tackles a different supernatural threat that the abptly named "Spookhouse" organization tackles. It's a game that isn't ashamed to hide it's B-movie and pulp novel aspirations. The only way you can play this game today though is if you sail the high seas of the net, there's also a site called Game Collector Chamber that has the game prepackaged with fixes so that it can run on modern OS and hardware. The developers of this also went on to create Blair Witch Volume 1 which is another gem that has been lost to time.
If the survival is just inventory management stuff rather than crafting/building and hunger/thirst I'm fine with it.

I haven't played RE7 yet. Is Madhouse the best difficulty for a first playthrough? I thought RE2 on hardcore was perfect, and don't want RE7 to be too easy.
