It's called private servers and it was the normal way of doing things until it stood in the way of whatever the fuck they're trying to avoid by not having them. Imagine if instead of dealing with the sisyphean task of trying to remove a vaguely defined group of people completely out of existence, those people got rid of themselves by going to a completely separate server. In turn you could create/join a server that has the exact rules and guidelines YOU as an individual want. It doesn't matter what they are. You can create a server where nobody's allowed to say potato salad. You can make a server where everyone has to say "trans rights" when they get a kill. You want to control the community? Create your own authoritarian dictatorship and nobody can stop you. Except devs like Blizzard have decided you should have to play with racists.
