It won't disappear, they are simply remaking it. A month after aritshart's 2 release, they add a dlc which you have to buy or be left behind.
This of course depends if the game won't be dead on arrival as it's predecessor.

Paying for the game gave you a starter deck and the equivalent cost of the game purchase in booster packs, which you could then sell the individual cards on the Steam marketplace. It was a dumb system because it turns out that having individual cards that cost as much as the game that are are required to make a good deck in a digital card game is fucking retarded, but it's not like buying the game gave you nothing.

just because valve claims that "these cards in their new game worth X amount of money so you got a fair purchase" it doesn't mean you can actually get that amount of money out of them, especially if the game is a fail and hardly anyone is interested in buying them

I can assure you that not even dota player care even a tiny bit about dota2's crappy lore, except for some extremely rare, truly autistic people. Valve put zero effort into dota2's world building outside of shitting out a very short comic like once or twice in a year.
That doesn't mean artifact can't be good with some nice art and solid gameplay, but the dota2 universe is definitely not some big selling point
