Acquire Adeptness

>filtered by a splatoon 2 base game boss
I died for the first time in the whole game when I played the Octo Expansion

Inner Agent 3 isn't a basegame boss, you idiot.

Oh fuck never mind then
She was still easy

Who let the thread from yesterday die?

Can it count as filtering if it's a secret boss that only unlocks a toothpick

The toothpick was so lame. We should've earned this for beating IA3.

Attached: Hero Shot.png (1280x720, 610.77K)

I almost forgot about all those shitters who were complaining that agent 3 is too hard.
>I PAID FOR IT SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO BEAT IT! STOP BEING ELITIST I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GET GOOD!
Was a good time.

Typically threads die when there is a lack of interest.

Let's generate that interest, then.
Yesterday, I said I was going to provide something special if a Splatoon thread was up for today, so here it is. The Splatoon 2 artbook in English. I'll be showing off some select pages from it and see if I can disprove some misinterpretations along the way.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_000.jpg (2549x3600, 1.54M)

The table of contents. I'll mainly be showing off stuff from the Characters and World pages.

I wanted to keep it alive, but I need sleep.

If you want to see all of it for yourself, you can find at Sadpanda.

Gib Splatoon 3 announcement this year or I will fuck a woomy.

Inklings look a little weird when viewed from the side.

Let's get to the characters.

The mascots of Splatoon 2, appearing on the boxart.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_037.jpg (5098x3600, 3.27M)

Here's a fun fact: Agent 4's Hero Suit was Callie's old suit.
And here's our first misinterpretation that I'll correct, though this information doesn't come from the artbook.
>Agent 4 is 18
Agent 4 is not 18. Agent 4 is 14, like Splatoon 2's other playable Inklings. Source: nintendoeverything.com/splatoon-2-producer-talks-a-ton-about-weapons-mobile-app-usage-graphics-hd-rumble-more/3/
>Q: The protagonist Inklings were around 14 years old in the first game, so now they’d be around 16…
>A: The previous playable Inklings would be around 16 now, so the new 14 year old Inklings will step up to the plate. The playable Inklings will still be around 14.
The basis behind this misinterpretation is a weird meta joke from the Treehouse localization.

The Salmon Run suit and the respawning lifesaver.

Some of these concepts were weeeird.

There's concept art in here for one of the teams that show up in the manga.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_046.jpg (5098x3600, 3.45M)

Those look fresh as fuck though.

Most of the pages after this before we get to actual characters are just formal weapon and gear concepts. They don't contain anything too interesting, so I'll skip most of them.

Some info on the Splat Dualies.

Tight man, glad someone could do what I couldn't. Hope the Octo-Expansion book comes out in English soon too.

Subs and specials.

Interesting info on the bottom right about ink.
You can drink it and be fine; but does that extend to enemy ink, too?

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_051.jpg (5098x3600, 3.72M)

I just started using it for ia3

Too obsessed with fresh.
Gyro is the right way to play.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_052.jpg (5098x3600, 3.43M)

Now we get to characters, including the new idol duo, Off the Hook!
An interesting thing to note here is that Pearl is from Calamari County; the same place the Squid Sisters and Captain Cuttlefish are from. I wonder if that explains the star shaped pupils.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_056.jpg (5098x3600, 3.69M)

Off the Hook went through many stages of refinement, with many minor adjustments of their designs.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_057.jpg (5098x3600, 3.47M)

Gyro is how you master the game. You can do it, user!

Attached: muffin believes in you.jpg (1044x587, 143.85K)

>beat IA3 with sticks after a few tries
Is it really that much easier with Gyro?

Attached: 1565733873300.png (1200x1129, 521.95K)

>rage at this for hours on end
>go to bed
>beat it first try the following day

The growing to be infamous "I wanted to show her armpit" comment in all its full glory.
This one is actually small enough to post after waifu2x noise removal.

Gyro makes shooters on switch feel almost as good as kb+m. DOOM feels much better on it than on PS4, even though it looks worse.

Pearl was drawn with headphones for a while before they decided to get rid of them.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_059_waifu2x.png (2549x3600, 2.88M)

Git gud.

And the original design concepts. This page includes their heights. Marina is pretty tall at 178cm, while Pearl is 145cm.
Pearl was also intended to originally be an Octoling, but they changed that pretty quick.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_060.jpg (5098x3600, 3.68M)

I'm in disbelief that anyone thinks this boss is hard.

Now we move onto the Squid Sisters.
Callie was wasted potential here, if you ask me.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_061.jpg (5098x3600, 3.55M)

Pearlie-boo so cute

Attached: whiny pearlie.gif (680x383, 1.62M)

Marie concepts.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_062_mywife.jpg (5098x3600, 3.25M)

Callie concepts.
I think they went with the wrong approach when it came to Boss Callie and her status in 2's final boss fight.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_063.jpg (5098x3600, 3.4M)

Two interesting things here:
One, is a concept for evil Marie. They intended to have the loser of the final Splatfest of 1 end up being an antagonist of the sequel. This concept art was likely before then.
Two, is the illustration on the bottom right. Previously, people shared this art as taken from the Japanese artbook as to how Octavio got Callie in the first place; however, this is apparently how Octavio gets Callie for the non-canon rematches. This leaves how Octavio actually got Callie for the first run of the campaign unexplained, though later in the artbook it's described as a kidnapping. No details beyond that.

Everyone's favorite fast-talking arms dealer.

Still easier to deal with than japs at 2:00 in the morning.

The hippie slug.
While it is a common idea that Flow has only one foot, there's evidence that she could have two and one is just hidden. Some concepts show her with two legs, and the foot on her ingame model isn't centered, which means there's room for another leg/foot.

>FN-P90

Holy shit thats in the game? Been using the Splat Roller since its OP as hell.

youtube.com/watch?v=Pf7QMz8pfdE

This dude is a descendant of Jelonzo, the clothing salesman from Splatoon 1.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_067.jpg (5098x3600, 3M)

That P90 is the starting weapon of the singleplayer campaign.
>Been using the Splat Roller since its OP as hell
Ah, newbies, how cute.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_068.jpg (5098x3600, 3.4M)

>That P90 is the starting weapon of the singleplayer campaign.

Can I obtain it from the shop and use it for MP or for the DLC?

Spyke and his replacement cyclops gremlin that I'm not sure anyone actually likes.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_069.jpg (5098x3600, 3.35M)

Murch is pretty ugly desu

Cats.
You can get a replica of it after beating all the missions of the singleplayer campaign with it to use in the multiplayer.
>in the DLC
That's a seperate thing entirely.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_070.jpg (5098x3600, 2.97M)

If you beat every level in the base campaign with a hero weapon, you'll unlock that weapon to buy for MP
it's just a reskin of the default weapon for that weapon type though

Post more Marina & Pearl please.

To expand on this one a bit because it contains really interesting information, Judd is an example of what humanity's technology was like at its peak. He's the successful immortal remnant of human civilization, actually teaching the succeeding civilization instead of going "fuck it" like Tartar did.

all of those hair styles should've been in the game

Attached: mem - Flow.jpg (640x660, 117.47K)

Mr. Grizz, an endless source of speculation amongst the fanbase. Is he a human? An immortal bear from before Inkling civilization, like Judd? Or just a normalish rich CEO using Grizzco as a front for his illegal salmon hunting activities? You decide.
And Crusty Sean, the epitome of fresh. Fun fact, he participated in Pearl's metal raves when she was in her death metal phase.

Attached: yoo ree.jpg (2048x1980, 375.74K)

>Is he a human?
I still feel that the reason Tartar was monitoring Octolings and Inklings is because they are genetic descendants of Humans as well. If they made an AI that is breaking down species genetic material to make a proper inheritor of Humanity's "torch" then what's to say Inkling and Octolings didn't result from such an attempt?

Wacky waving jelly arm stretching round men.

Attached: The_Art_of_Splatoon_2_072.jpg (2549x3600, 1.27M)

Onto the world of Splatoon!
It was a theory of mine for a while that there were immortalized, uplifted cephalopods from the time of humanity, and that they, after humanity fell, subtly influenced the evolution of their fellow cephalopods to produce Inklings and Octolings. However, I believe that theory was shot down in a Nogami interview, though I can't remember what interview it was now.
