SOMA is a good game and ot kafkaesque at all.
Have you ever actually read a book, zoomer?

SOMA

i said inb4 soma

this is so kafkaesque

not wrong
there is literally no point making bed

>I said GOOD games.
No you didn't.

op can't inb4

papers, please

He should be making pokemon creatures

Then just dont make your bed. Its not that hard

Look at the top, it says age 10 I don't think he gets much of a choice in the matter.

but there's a tyrant downstairs that will beat your ass if you don't make your bed, now what fucker?

What is Kafka's best piece and should i read it

metamorphosis, yes

Attached: 1557678080698.jpg (630x463, 82.4K)

what even IS kafkaesque?

Attached: 1554620696204.jpg (900x697, 401.74K)

basically any game where the end boss is your father and you have to overcome your fear to defeat him
The Metamorphosis is a pretty good entry level read into Kafka's psychie and the problems he dealt with in his family

>overcome your fear
>defeat him
yeah you never read Kafka

make the bed then unmake it when he doesnt see

i've read Kafka, but i know that there is no game about the daddy issues he had, so i went for the next best thing which is going full Japanese game where your dad is god or the devil and you have to defeat him

I never understood what was meant by kafkaesque, maybe I'm a brainlet

Then you're just perpetuating the absurdity repeating what you're actually doing out out spite

I recently read "the trial". It was alright, I've definitely read better books.

>not convincing your parents of this futility and playing video games instead
Kafka was just bad at explaining himself, as seen in him never finishing a fucking book.

Friendly reminder that the only reason we got to know Franz Kafka was due to his friend refusing to honor his last wishes and publishing his writings instead of burning them.

I wonder if he did the right thing. Granted, he gave us Kafka but at the same time it was a violation of his wishes that allowed billions of strangers to peek into his head.

is emergence kafkaesque

Lineage II or any other super-grindy korean MMO where you grind for no reason other than see bar go up

>Start reading Metamorphosis
>Excepting turning in to a Cockroach, the situation feels exceptionally familiar and close to home.
This is troubling...

Please, no meat touching maam

Is that Lloyd's VA?

Ovid's Metanorphoses is better than Kafka's

Haha perfect

It's about depression. The Metamorphosis protag doesn't feel like a turk, he's indeed a turk.

once again I must go up the hill
all for a crummy pail of water

The sinopsis sounds like it, but not really.

I always thought it was about stuff that was absurd and everyone was aware it was absurd, but went along with it anyway

>It's about depression.
Wrong.

>ctrl F meat
>1 hit
Good. Everything is as it should be.

The protag feels like shit and his vision about the world is conditioned by his mood. Sounds like depression to me.

I guess there are no Kafkaesque video games because a main theme is the protagonist being powerless and a mere pawn of incomprehensible and absurd structures/powers. Maybe there is a Jap visual novel in such a vein but I wouldn't know.

Spec Ops the Line?

>the protagonist being powerless and a mere pawn of incomprehensible and absurd structures/powers
but that's every video game ever - i doubt they realize the player is controlling their fates

>The protag feels like shit
That doesn't make it about depression, a mere surface level analogy. De Sade's protagonists feel like shit as well does that make all the shit eating and anal rape about depression too?
>and his vision about the world is conditioned by his mood.
It's not. Everything happens just like he perceives it.

>I guess there are no Kafkaesque video games because a main theme is the protagonist being powerless and a mere pawn of incomprehensible and absurd structures/powers.
Oh yes, there is a game like that.

>Spec Ops the Line?
Hm..not a bad call but for my feeling the powers that rule the protag of Spec Ops are neither incomprehensible nor absurd nor bureaucratic enough. Have to think about it some more.

>but that's every video game ever - i doubt they realize the player is controlling their fates
Haha, very entertaining and interesting idea.

What's the gist of kafka ideology?

if you think about it, the protag has turned into a roach over night and this has apparently BARELY affected his outlook on life, he notices it and continues to get ready in the morning like nothing happened
he notes how difficult the change is but he is sure he can overcome it
then you see his families reaction and even after weeks and months they STILL haven't gotten over it and are falling apart at the seams trying to cope with it

really though you are right, there is an element of depression
his family hates him and its not even his fault
he tries to make the best of a bad situation and makes it worse several times over
His family has let him down by lacking the conviction to overcome this change like the protag has
im bad at explaining stuff

"""ideology"

not even's a huckster like peterson, christ

>I guess there are no Kafkaesque video games because a main theme is the protagonist being powerless and a mere pawn of incomprehensible and absurd structures/powers.
MGS2? Even at the end after throwing away the dogtags he's still a tool of the patriots.

Source is Towelket: One More Time.

technically it's a spin-off, but yeah.

hello
is it me you're looking for

>inb4 SOMA
The fuck you mean? Have you even read Kafka, or played SOMA?

Anyway I think there's a shitty kafka game on Steam, but if this is what you're trying to get out of a videogame then you will end up disappointed.

>Even at the end after throwing away the dogtags he's still a tool of the patriots.
Not an expert on Metal Gear but: Again the Patriots are a pretty concrete political and military force, nothing too absurd about them even if you find their goals ridiculous.
The protagonists of Kafka don't even understand what happens to them, there is some force exercising influence on their lifes for unknown and grotesque reasons, often it has to do with a bureaucracy that's ever more increasing in complexity and influence taking on an incomprehensible life of its own but even that is often left open or just vaguely indicated.

Thought about it but I don't know enough about it.

sounds like a good chance to give it a shot, now that it's topical and relevant

The first one was a walking simulator I am a bit hesitant to give it a go for that reason.

>I said GOOD games.
No you didn't, dumbass.
