That's what happens when devs spend 9 years remaking a fucking game. I can't imagine it being that much better than replaying HL1 with an HD graphics pack.
post pics of new xen
Get hyped for Black Mesa Xen 3.0, coming 2029.
>I can't imagine it being that much better than replaying HL1 with an HD graphics pack.
Based brainlet
>2020... I am... already completely outdated because the Earth looks completely different in Africa
Bad pic but here ya go
You really never see full blown Xen in Alyx, but it's constantly spilling over into Earth and it gives a pretty damn good idea what Xen is SUPPOSED to look like
Alyx, opposing force and blue shift aren't canon. Half-life spinoffs are automatically non canon according to valve.
They shouldn't have fucking made Xen half of the game.
Absolute brainlett post. Xen isn't some planet with multiple biomes. It's a boarder world with no need for areas to look different
Lol this might be the biggest cope out of all of them. You will reach those grapes someday, friend
Both of those look like shit, damn.
Black Mesa isn't even good in the first place
Post a better picture please
wow zen looks just like a house
>zen
xD!
i actually smirked irl
I think the only one coping here is you my friend. I just stated something that valve said.
Alyx has parts that take place after episode 2
It's a Sequel, not a spinoff
HL Alyx isn't canon.
cope adrian
Who is Adrien? Genuinely asking
The subject of Hunt Down the Freeman
Souless
Black Mesa Xen was full of SOUL
You, a nameless dipshit on the internet, are not the one who decides canon. At best you can write fan fiction but have no real control of the franchise. Headcanon is complete nonsense.

t. Seething BM dev who just waisted a whole decade of his life
Xen doesn't appear in HL:Alex except at the end and no a house with alien fungus is not Xen
The containment zone is literally xen spilling over.
Corporal Adrian Shephard, protag of the Half Life Opposing Force expansion pack. In the ending Gman's employers wanted him dead because he was too powerful to handle and knows too much, but Gman reasoned for his detention.
Many HLfans like him, but he is schrödinger's canon, meaning he can be canon or not depending on Valve's mood when developing a Half-Life game.
Maybe Xen's just a big place.
Black Mesa Xen did rely way too much on basalt formations though.
Looks like fucking James Cameron's Avatar lmao
I saw you post this yesterday OP. Stop being an autist
No
This looks nice, but I think they made it all just a bit too dense. Every single surface is covered in glowing crystals or mushrooms and the sky is completely packed with floating rocks and those flying mantis things. It would have been better imo if there were some more blank looking spaces to make the flashier stuff stand out better.
Different levels in Xen looked completely different from each other so it’s totally fine that Alyx has a different experience of Xen. It’s hardly a consistently designed area.
I started self-isolation today, so I'm going to play Black Mesa for the first time, then all of HL2. Going to get comfy, boys.
When was Shepard ever considered canon to Valve?
Play the original Half Life instead
Play Half Life 1 first if you haven't already
When was Barney?
just to let you guys know i've played black mesa
name literally one game that turned out fine after spending 12 years in development
since he's literally in hl2 you doublenigger
Which Barney was it?
g-man's doppelgänger
You're missing the point that he's explicitly from Blue Shift
i'm just here to shitpost buddy
Kek. Based
Black Mesa Xen looks way better, Xen in HL1 was shit
Not exactly an accomplishment when the original was made in 1998.
You go to Zen in alyx as well now? Is there anything from the old games they didn't feel the need to cram into Alyx to remind zoomers which game they're playing?
pathetic nostalgia bait
Is black mesa worth playing? I used to follow that mod about 15 years ago but eventually got bored of waiting
The game is finished, all the old major gripes seem to be addressed. Xen is an all new experience (loosely following the general events of the original). Yes it's worth playing.
Beginning is great but quality falls off as soon as you hit the surface. Quit after you've blown up the helicopter at the cliffsides. Also I can't put my finger on what it is but marine ai feels completely retarded.
You don't go there, but a good chunk of the game takes place in an area where it's spilling over and overlapping with Earth
>Is there anything from the old games they didn't feel the need to cram into Alyx to remind zoomers which game they're playing?
Literally anything. There wasn't enough HL1 fanservice at all
>Is there anything from the old games they didn't feel the need to cram into Alyx to remind zoomers which game they're playing?
A melee weapon because betastesters keep thinking they were playing as Gordon
What an arbitrary stopping point. There's plenty of good segments after the cliff.
Fighting the marines is objectively worse in Black Mesa than in HL1 and they truncate some of the level design. It's neat if you've never played Half Life before, but if it's your first time just stick with the original
>All of Earth looks exactly the same
Uh huh....
>no melee weapon because beta-testers kept thinking they were playing as Gordon
That seems like a stupid fucking reason for not having a melee option. Maybe if they have give a weapon that wasn't a crowbar, it would have been better.
I mean, when people played Opposing Force, they didn't confuse Shepard for Gordon and you could still melee (with a wrench).
