The legend of Zelda
Video games in general
I've spent my entire life on this godforsaken website
I've yet to find such thing.
Meanwhile, I've found dozens of gems I would have adored as a kid, and still greatly enjoyed this day and age as an aged man (Parasite Eve, Banjos, System Shock 2 ...)
none lol
all the games i couldn't get into are the games i love now, while the games i used to love i can't get into anymore
Kinda wish I gave a fuck about sonic
But I don't, at all
Zelda, I guess. I never found myself interested in those games on any level, but I can't help feeling like I would find them more charming and fun if I had gotten into them as a kid, which I couldn't because my consoles were a hand-me-down Sega Genesis and then a PS1 until I eventually got a Gamecube around age eight.
Sex with the teacher.
Not that I can't get in to them now, but I wish I played JRPGs when I was a kid
Kirby
I remember playing a bit of it on my friend's gameboy advance when I was little and really liking it but, as an adult, the games are really boring and easy
I'd probably also like the rayman games more if I'd played them as a shota, for similar reasons.
this too
Pretty much every snes and ps1 jrpg.
I just dont have the patience and imagination for turn based anymore and the only ones is enjoy are ones I have nostalgia for.
Banjo-Kazooie, I guess.
Part of me wishes I could've into Runescape since it seems to be everybody's childhood game. Instead I got into Maplestory. Another part of me is happy I didn't like it even as a child because today I can definitely say that Runescape is hot steaming garbage. Just like Maplestory lol
Donkey Kong Country, the OST and visuals/atmosphere are amazing and nostalgic for me without even ever playing the game, I can only imagine what it would be like if I had early childhood memories of it
I wish I had gotten Animal Crossing as a kid, since I'm sure I would've loved it if I had given it a fair shot, but it just didn't appeal to me as much as stuff like Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom. At least I got in on Animal Crossing years later when New Leaf came out and my girlfriend from the time got me into it.
Shin Megami Tensei
Same, but i can't get into them now even though i've tried several times, they're just a whole different world and i can't play them for some reason
I never heard of either when I was a child and I feel like I missed out on a lot. Would you recommend either to a 25 y/o?
It’s too hard, my childhood memories of it is fuck the stupid wasps
The game of having friends
Starcraft. My pc growing up was super shitty.
Baldur's Gate. I'm too much of a munchkin these days to have much fun with it.
Not that user, but old school runescape can be fun if you're a fan of point-and-click adventure style games. The quests in that game are full of fun, quirky dialogue that's always reminded me of things like Monkey Island or King's Quest. You need to be really open-minded with the game's old-even-at-the-time graphics, however. I always enjoyed looking at the characters like they're simplistic little wooden toy soldiers and whatnot and I enjoy sending them around their little fantasy world to live their life through all the different crafting systems and all that.
I've got a few:
OoT
GTA: SA (first GTA was V)
JRPGs like Secret of Mana/Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger
Super Mario RPG
PS1 era games, never owned a PS until 4
A couple people saying zelda
i cant get into zelda either even thought it seems like the kinda game i would like
I dont think its us, i think zelda games are actually boring but have had a cult mentality around them for decades
I think the early games are good for their time but just extremely outdated now. I can see myself going back and playing Windwaker however
I suppose pokemon and world of warcraft. I never liked the idea of getting monsters to fight your battles for you so I never played any pokemon game, and I'm too late for world of warcraft to make any fond memories of it
Persona 3 FES
I played wind waker up until the tri force hunt at the end
and my god what a fucking boring game. I dont get it, why do people like these games
The intro that goes on forever, the crap story, the repetitive shallow combat, the FUCKING SAILING so boring and takes ages,
The main meat of the game the dungeon, stealth, puzzle solving are all so fucking boring and tedious aswell
I think there were a bunch of times i didnt know how to progress aswell
I can imagine a good zelda game though, if every element was good instead of crap it would be amazing
I would not recommend Maplestory for the reason that it's turned into a soulless husk of what it used to be. It was always a grindfest but it used to have an active community, now it's all about soloing and the game is being updated because Nexon wants that whale money. The community and childhood wonder are what made the game in the past. I'd recommend listening to the soundtrack, that's the best experience you can get from Maplestory. Literally the best soundtrack in a video game I've ever heard. It's bloody magical.
As for Runescape, I can't say much. The game looks like shit and plays very slowly. To my knowledge it's very grindy as well. I didn't even like it when I was a little kid and all of my friends hyped it and played it together.
I wish I could've been there for Destiny 1, but I was too much of a dumbass to understand the appeal. That's more just because the game is dead now though as opposed to stuff I can't get into
Same with classic Runescape, my friend has told me a bunch of interesting stories and experiences from that game that I would've liked to have seen for myself
I also missed out on Halo 3's online due to being too damn poor
This, but for LttP. I can't stand playing it because it does nothing that other Zeldas don't do way better, but I'm sure I would have loved it playing it as a kid.
Be glad that you didn't. They're mostly a waste of time (as most of the gameplay revolves around 'fake' challenges that are mostly just timesinks) and don't do much that action/adventures don't do better now.
There's never been a better time to get into old school runescape. The early levels are the comfiest so enjoy that while you can but you can grind through them pretty fast if you want to. Also the quests are a treasure but 100% you need guides to do them.
Doom Eternal
Animal Crossing
WW has by far the most boring shit in the series, no contest, so this isn't surprising. The NES games, Oracles, OoT and BotW are the best places to really *get into* Zelda (I would recommend MM, but if you didn't like WW I can't do that unless it's the remake as it's a similarly tedious, repetitive and heavily quest focused game).
Any RTS games that I missed, including original sc. I played a fuckton of stronghold / aoe / age of mythology and turn based games in general.
Tried to get into RTS again but its just not for me anymore.
Zelda games, I'd say. I would probably have loved them as a kid, but as an adult they are painfully slow and simple
tfw do have nostalgia for this track. still have my cart. eat shit zoomies
I don't know why you wouldn't play dkc2 though, it's a masterpiece.
The music in Runescape is unironically amazing, I dont know how
Nothing. Either it's good or it's not. Age played makes no difference. If anything playing them now I appreciate even the worse games more because I understand how at least the past games were so well thought out in terms of shit like level design before movies and pure unadulterated greed took over.
It wouldn't have any power over you because nostalgia has no power over those who don't want it to.
Literal braindead NPC
retard
t. low functioning autistic
There are none, I’m getting into more games now than I did as a kid
Battlefield 4. On paper it's everything Battlefield 3 should have been.
Last one I played the hell out of was 2142 and Bad Company 2.
>only the cart
Games don’t age zoomer
megaman battle network
Bloodstained. Teenage me would have sucked its dick
Fortnite.
yeah, but people do. simplistic baby games like kirby and zelda are hard to enjoy when you aren't a simplistic baby
Rather play Kirby than Assassins Creed or some boring modern western crap
>there are only two games
>easy games made for kindergarteners
>cinematic skinner boxes made for normies
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 7
Pretty much every Super Mario Bros game before 64
>Maplestory
>Runescape
>Ragnarok Online
A lot of MMOs purely because if there's a game I wanted to play as a kid, I'll play it just to see what it was like. Can't necessarily do that with MMOs...
Still, play these. Skip 1 and 4 (you don't need to skip 1 if you play the Operate Shooting Star version). These are still some of the best games I've played, from the soundtrack to the battle system it's incredible, they still hold up today. Yeah, you might not be able to play multiplayer with anyone but some versions of the game (namely the WiiU virtual console versions) give you all the multiplayer chips you would've needed. I highly recommend giving these a go even as an adult.
Donkey Kong 64
Played only a little when young, have this memory of being this massive mysterious game in my head, but if I play it now it will absolutely be worse than what I think it is.
Honestly the only ones I ever play now are the two Sonic Adventure games and Sonic 2.
I played a little bit of it as a kid on my friend’s SNES but I can safely say this game holds up nicely as an adult.
Is Roblox fun at all?
I honestly never heard of it when I was younger (27 now) and I sort of like that low poly Lego design it’s got going, I noticed it’s on Xbox One for free.
>I also missed out on Halo 3's online due to being too damn poor
My condolences friend, that shit was my bread and butter back in high school.
Nothing could beat hosting 12-16 player custom games or big team battle all with friends from school.
You can play it but really a lot of the good and "soulful" games are gone. The only one I know that's still around is Survive the Disasters. Community is still the same tho for the most part.
Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7. By the time I finally got around to playing them every single detail about them was spoiled so I never fell in love with them like everyone around me was, that and I missed out on tons of conversations because I hadn't played those games yet. I don't know why I dragged my feet for so long because I liked JRPG's.
>you will never spend the weekend at your boys house playing split screen halo 2 with a two four and pizza everyday
Donkey Kong 64 says trans rights
3d Mario, Zelda, Klonoa Ape Escape
I'd also like to add Halo 3 to my list.
I like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 now, but I would have fucking Loved it as a kid.
I only ever got into the original Planetside after most of the population left so It would have been nice to go back and play it on launch before it was mutilated by terrible Xpacs
