The Witcher (2007)

Why is it so much better than its sequels?

Attached: p1_50628001320497.jpg (1024x640, 219.71K)

Because it's eurojank and you like having foreign cocks up your ass

Because SOUL

Look at all the beautifully crafted levels and quests.
Much better than the run if the mill crap we get nowadays

this, but unironically

Are you retarded?

it has slavic soul of jank

its just a crappy game

>The Witcher
We want to make a roleplaying game based on the (in poland) popular books of The Witcher
>The Witcher 2
We want to make another Witcher game but this time with better graphics, maybe we could reduce the roleplaying and make the game more linear to accomplish this
>The Witcher 3
The third entry in our hit franchise and of course it will be an open-world game because the current trend for all big AAA releases is to be open world

pc only

Witcher 1 is open world too though

It's not though.
>shit combat
>shit mechanics
>shit difficulty
>shit graphics
>shit animations
>shit mini-games
>shit quests
It's only redeeming quality is that you can more women, which doesn't even make that much sense since Geralt isn't supposed to be a womaniser.

>shit combat
Nope. Far better than the button-mashing shit in the sequels.
>shit mechanics
I'll take actual inventories over "press X to loot" any day of the week
>shit difficulty
Difficulty is fine
>shit graphics
Actually has pretty decent graphics for a 2007 AA game
>shit animations
They're fine
>shit mini-games
Dice poker is FAR better in TW1 than in TW2. Nearly anyone who has played both games agrees on this.
>shit quests
Again, TW1 is widely regarded as having the best quests by anyone who has played all the games.

>let's try and make a fun game based on this cool book that isn't very well known outside of Poland, to show the charm of it to more people and maybe get recognized as a capable studio
2
>money?
3
>haha money

>hahahahaha holy fuck all of the money

>Geralt isn't supposed to be a womaniser.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
STOP ROLEPLAYING, GERALT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO SAY THIS AND DO THAT

>cool book

That's what they thought, probably. Doubt they thought it was so bad they just had to salvage it.

TW1 is like The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny in vidya form.
TW2 is like the rest of the books in vidya form.
TW3 is fan fiction by people who love Tolkien and Game of Thrones.

>rebukes your entire argument with drowner repellent talisman

why do shittier graphics always look better to me

No it isnt. Its a hub based design. You retards really need to learn the difference because im sick of people saying STALKER is an open world game.

Its not a trick. The quality of texture and modelling was more important in the mid 00s because post processing and lighting wasn't as good yet.

So exactly like Witcher 3 then? Idiot.

Loading screens doesn't prevent open world. It just means free movement.

Baldur's Gate 1 for example is completely open world even though it consists of small areas with loading screens at the edges.

Interesting source material put into vidya form by passionate developers who considered it a labour of love, PC oriented old school RPG made for adult nerd audience. The team was one of geniuses and they rolled a lot of sixes during development (luck with composers etc.)

07/08 along with the console ports' developers cheating them out of their money almost bankrupted CDPR. This was also the time of consoles becoming rapidly popular so they went for the less risky and more rewarding investment, resulting in a more casual and Western type of a game. They also cancelled two planned standalone expansions for TW1 btw.

I had a conversation on here with someone who worked at the studio and mentioned a bunch of stuff about CDPR's plans with the series in the wake of the success of the first game - I remember screencapping it, will try to upload it later on. It's really a shame, they also cut a lot content from it.

Except for TW1 there are different areas which you get transported to at the end of each chapter. The previous area then becomes inaccessible. It's not open world.

You have a point, but I'd still say it still arguable open world.

2 is the best

Geralt is an established and pre-defined character, if they wanted you to roleplay they should have let you create your own character.

because maximum comfiness

Man that was some shit. I mean actual shit.

It's not arguable though. It has separate areas that are relatively open, but you can't describe the game as "open-world".

>foreign
>being murrimutt in 2020
Enjoy your nu ebola.

I predict Witcher 4 will be custom character.

you just unironically described all 3 games of the series

Because it was made before CDPR got pozzed.

I can and I will and I know I have the right as per the official definition. Argument over.

I'm gonna play Witcher 3 now so I won't reply to your stupid ass anymore.

Even in the first game you were supposed to be like that, CDPR got last minute approval from Sapkowski to use major characters (including Geralt).

you actually feel like you're roleplaying as a Witcher not #GenericActionHero91428

the story is pretty weak imo

Witcher 2 was the best though. Witcher 1 had the most soul despite being janky as fuck. Witcher 3 went down the open world route so was meh.

Better story, better atmosphere, actual RPG elements

i like 3 but i think 2 is absolute garbage and i could not wait for it to be over, i literally just put it on easy and rushed through the game because it was so boring

Quit the bull plop malarkey while this game is still on sale is it worth a buck fifty

Absolutely

Thank you user buying it now

Buy it on GoG

For me, its the swamp.

Because this game actually makes you feel like a witcher. You USE your potions, you craft shit, you fight monsters. You don't save the world, just doing your job.

Is there something wrong with the steam version

i had 9 bucks left in my steam wallet and 9 bucks doesn't buy much on steam so grabbed this game becuase of the thread and the user that told me to buy it

Need a Remake

if you buy it on GoG all of it goes to CDPR not just 70%
this, with all the cut content and soul

To be fair the main series of books focuses more on Ciri and the whole saving the world plot more than the witcher doing witcher stuff. The non witcher stuff is easily the weakest parts of the games and books

Best sex card? For me gossip girl

why everyone thinks Nilfgard is evil?

user i bought it for a buck are you really gonnaa send me on a guilt trip for the 30 cents they didn't get ?

They still walked away with 70 cents in their pocket they can buy gum now

You can buy a house in Poland with that 30 cents, user.

user, with the upcoming flop of Trannypunk 2077 they need all the alms they can muster.

Most of those quests were fetch quests you had to run back and forth across a map to complete dude

or at least it was until Azar Javed fucked everything up

Contrarianism. The game has good atmosphere but the story is only good from the perspective of a vacuum. It isn't really a sequel to the series like 2 and 3 are, but more an excuse to re-enact a lot of classic Witcher Scenarios. I get that's why a lot of people like it as a stand alone game but it just makes everyone's actions in the game weird and dumb in the lens of the series plot. The only good thing you can say about the rhythm combat is that it's pathetically easy to break so you don't have to play it. The bestiary is great but you can say that about all three games.
