Holy shit, this was bad.
It seems like From lost all of their teeth with this one and made one of the most bland, sterile, and mediocre games that I've had the displeasure of playing through. There is absolutely nothing interesting about this game at all. Every level and boss plays out the exact same; once you've played one through area of the game, you've done them all. There's no interesting levels to spice things up like Sen's Fortress or Nightmare of Mensis and it doesn't help the world design is a straight line.
Is Sekiro any better?
Holy shit, this was bad
OP is a fucking fag
an hero immediately
It's actually slightly worse than DS1 but still way better than DS2 or even Sekiro, I'd say.
No Sekiro is not any better
Bloodborne is the best Fromsoft game.
Leave a (you) if you agree. Let's see how many people think Bloodborne is best!
>but still way better than DS2
Filtered.
It's actually fine. Maybe not as groundbreaking as 1, but it's more competently developed than 2 and more polished than either of them.
It's still a From game, so the polish wasn't amazing, but compared to the latter half of DS1 and like 75% of DS2 (not counting the DLC which was a lot better)? It's fine.
The world connectivity was notably worse than DS1, DS2 and BB, but honestly, that doesn't break it for me. It would be nice if it were better, but whatever. The most notable thing about 3 in my eyes is the vast improvements made to the multiplayer over the other games in the series, probably the one aspect where From learned the lessons and stuck with them as they went down the chain.
I know the faster pace was a bugbear for a lot of people, and honestly, I can understand that entirely, but I don't think it's worse than DS1, it's just... Different. Strategies you used in DS1 won't work because DS3 is faster. Rolling iframes are more forefront in how you play, but I guess I never understood why that was such an awful thing? One argument I've heard is that it makes the entire process more based on twitch reflexes than about predicting attacks and positioning, but I don't really think that's the case. The timings of attacks in the game are extremely varied, so rolling when you see something move will only work maybe 30, 40% of the time.
My final conclusion on DS3 is that it's not the best game ever, but it's a pretty good and fun experience.
It's just a rushed reskin of Bloodborne, calm down
Funny I didn't like Souls until 3. DaS1 had like 2 good areas and the rest of the game was dogshit. The bosses were terrible as well.
shit taste
it's the only good soulsborne
this and sekiro are the only polished miyazaki games and the only ones worth playing multiple times
the rest are janky, half baked garbage that could have been good games with more development but they are not
Can you imagine the guy who didn't look everything up, ran through Farron keep, catacombs of carthus, killed Wolnir, encountered the Sulyvhans beast and tried to get into irythill just to bump that barrier.
Imagine the guy who never found the demon ruins. Imagine the guy who never found the untended graves. Imagine the guy who never found ArchdragonPeak. The guy who never got the Aldrich Faithful or Rosarias Covenant or Mound Makers.
Fuck your garbage opinion just because you looked up the whole game.
dark souls 3 is literally reused bloodborne assets the game it fucking sucked shit.
>soulsborne
more like bloodborne is an alpha test for DS3
>I have advanced autism but no ps4
I have a PS4 and have played bloodborne
it was mediocre and only considered good because it was the first soulsborne that PS4normies played when it was free on PS Plus
Bloodborne is better than Dark Souls 3 in every conceivable way, though.
Fuck you for shilling for a (you) but god dammit Bloodborne is fucking awesome
I love DS1, DS3, DeS, and Bloodborne. But in all seriousness, Bloodborne is the only one that stands out as 'consistent in quality'. As much as I love DS3, I think it might be the most fun of them all, it's clear they were running out of ideas. Besides all the 'hey, remember this cool thing from Dark Souls?!?' Lothric Castle is just a reskinned Boletaria.
Yep. DaS3 and Sekiro are their only games that maintain a solid level of quality throughout the entire length.
DaS1 falls off a cliff 40~50% into the game. DaS2 is shit almost from the start.
I seriously hope Elden ring is able to stay consistent like DaS3 and Sekiro. I don't want 40% of a good game like DaS1
I think it might be the best the first time through, but so many bosses are utterly throw awayable it ruins the replay value a ton, not to mention how utterly hell the chalice dungeons are if you're trying to get good gems on alts.
Gascoigne is fun, Amelia is fun, WoH is fun the first time, snake men are fun the first time, one reborn is middle tier, micolash is phenomenal in a lot of ways but gameplay is not one of them, neutral final boss is great, logarius is great, moon presence is clearly dumbed down with the intention of doing him after final boss but then you can retry it by itself so its ass
DLC bosses are all good or great
everything not mentioned here is actually terrible
chalice dungeons are fine but needed finer tuning in later games, didnt get em so they're unreplayable ass
In other words Bloodborne is probably the worst Souls game on subsequent playthroughs? but its weapon system is unbelievably good and it's setting was rad as fuck
it's just a rushed version of DS3 shat out with only half the features and some schlock horror assets (likely from a scrapped game) that sony handed them while saying "now release not-DS3 as fast as possible so we can sell some PS4s"
my favorite part about DS2 hate is "the story is too detached" which is what made it so amazing, who the fuck is gonna know everything about the past when the world is set on fire every couple thousand years
then DS3 kicks down the door and is like "LORD GWYN LMAO"
>Amelia
I disagree with you about Bloodborne but let’s just talk about this for a second, this bitch takes up the entire screen with her body and hair, outside of her design she’s pretty generic, what about her is fun?
>first boss I fought was a dude in armor
Yas Forums was right
Based and Lothricpilled.
Absolutely obscenely good audio design and yeah I like her visual design a lot
She has the "big boss small camera" problem a lot of bosses in Bloodborne have but her moveset is fairly diverse and there's a lot of neat tricks to her fight that make you feel like a real-ass hunter when you perform
I don't hang out on Yas Forums that often so I don't necessarily know if you mean that in a good or bad way but being mad about knights in a setting with...5? 6? nearby kingdoms built sometimes literally on top of each other would be absolutely non-sense
>the latter half of DS1
>DaS1 falls off a cliff 40~50% into the game.
Why does this proportion keep getting bigger over time? First it was Lost Izalith sucks, which is objectively true. Then Duke's Archives and TotG suck, which I disagree with but is understandable since they're gimmicky and linear. Then it was everything after getting the Lordvessel, now it's everything after ringing the bells. It's gone too far.
I always interpreted it as "difficulty does not scale as well after O&S" which I think is pretty fair, literally every area becomes a gimmick and while I think the Sif -> Abyss thing is neat from a couple standpoints, I can easily see getting down to 4k and instantly dying not knowing whats going on being fucking retarded
I'd be willing to bet its a normiebreaker too, you dont know where any of those golden doors are and a lot of the bosses have slightly strange gimmicks (Seath, 4k, BoC, Nito to a smaller degree, even stuff like centipede demon) so by the time you get to Gwyn you already know what you're expecting cause you've been taught to just look things up and you just parry estus parry estus him to death
I'm glad I had friends helping me but yeah I don't think post O&S DS1 is as good or as bad as people say
DS1 is a ghost that haunts the series in all the wrong ways though
It's a tr*nny meme. Lost Izalith is the only bad area in the game. A unique level like Tomb of the Giants has more merit to it than any Dark Souls 3 level where everything plays out the exact same.
I can tell you don’t visit Yas Forums very often. The problem I have with the knights is that they’re not very fun to fight against, most of them are piss easy 1 to 1 and are only difficult in terms of ganksquading, including the aforementioned boss. Visually it’s monotonous and boring
I don't personally find knights monotonous or boring so I can't sympathize there but your complaint about them not being fun is that they're easy?
How do you feel about "harder" knights like Gael or Alonne?
>good and accessible games bad
>bad or exclusive games good
Yep, this is Yas Forums alright.
...
Souls Greatest Hits edition is just fun souls user.
Play the pvp and ignore the rest
There are literally 5 different "first bosses" in das2 user
You can fight the rotten before any other boss
>good and accessible games bad
Based
They’re better but the reason isn’t solely because they’re hard, it’s because they look cool as fuck, something 2 lacks mostly, and because they aren’t retarded and just sit there
>bro just farm 6 horgilion souls bro!!!
Cringe
What's the point of a greatest hits album, if you forget to put in the hits?
Honestly, it goes even further, because the catacombs and blighttown also suck ass. So the only good parts are burg and parish.
3>2>1
>bro just farm 6 horgilion souls bro!!!
The fuck are you talking about?
Why are you triggered you can have rotten as the first boss or iron king as the 4th boss?
Sorry you dont like being able to choose like in des?
You don't have to farm 6 horgilion souls though?
Demon's Souls
>best level design
Dark Souls
>best exploration
Dark Souls 2
>
Bloodborne
>best overall quality
Dark Souls 3
>best action
It’s nothing like Des although it tries hard to copy shit like MiB
now THIS is a Yas Forums post
I have given up on 2 separate occasions in lothric castle cause I'm bored and didnt like my builds. Is dancer the halfway point or am I close to the end and should just finish it off?
the areas feel a lot less polished and just more annoying then anything. that's also when they pull out these total bullshit gimmicks you'd be hardstuck on for hours with hardly a hint to go off
>totg
>no light unless you have the lamp drop that you can only get one specific mob or use magic (which all know is busted in every game)
>without it you'll just get rolled over by giant skeletons or dog skeleton that shreds your health
>duke's archives
>unavoidable death at the start
>invisible platforms with the only hint being small snowflakes crashing on nothing
>only way to find out is to off the edge since the hint is a minute detail hardly anyone would notice
>new londo
>ghosts you can't hit unless you have a specific weapon type, use a specific item that's otherwise worthless, or you're cursed
>ghosts can phase through walls and your shield, but still block your way and fuck your shit up
>die to the abyss unless you killed this specific boss and read the item description for the it ring (admittedly less bullshit than the rest).
>lost izilath
i dont think you need an explanation for this
honestly even knowing how get past these gimmicks the areas are boring because they bank on you being tripped up by the gimmick, and so the level design itself ends up being shit (the only exception being duke's).
Exceptionally fucking based.
Dancer is like the 75% mark, disregarding optional areas.
>literally a combination of das1 and des
>its nothing like des
Go play more games.
Why so upset that mytha can be your first boss though?
>implying des didnt copy all its shit
kek
go play froms older titles
Sekiro is better. But I still love DS3. It has the best bosses of all the Fromsoft games (including BB, though BB is still my overall favorite game of theirs) and the level design is fantastic. It was just held back by having to be a Dark Souls sequel. If it had no association with DS and was its own thing with more unique elements people would have probably liked it a lot more.
Disregarding the rest of your post, how do you not get the lantern everytime? I get at least 2 every playthrough, every single one. And for New Londo you know you can buy those consumeables right?
DS2 had the best online by FAR. Most fun I had in any souls games regarding that
I'd also say that it had the best voice acting. Just listen to Vendrick's voice and tell me that it gets any better than that.
>mytha
Fuck meant the scorpion bitch najka
Theres too many titty bosses in das2
Or not enough
It’s more like a chinese knock off than a combination. I’m upset because my first boss was dragon rider.
>DeS didn’t copy shit
I didn’t say that it didn’t, but 2 does it so poorly
it's BB > DS1 > DS3 = Demons Souls > DS2
>chinese knock off
>not a ps1 from rpg knockoff
kek
All souls is just Kings Field lore, Shadow Tower equipment and blocking, Evergrace third person camera and stamina based combat, and add a liberal helping of berserk references.
Its the least unique franchise from has ever created.
25% of the game left isnt a lot but it certainly sounds like a slog to me. Any cool bosses/areas that are worth finishing it for?
>no light unless you have the lamp drop that you can only get one specific mob
The Skull Lantern is a guaranteed drop from one of the necromancers and it's a common drop from any of the others. I usually end up with 2 by the time I clear the Catacombs.
>unavoidable death at the start
That's the one real cheap move the game pulls.
>invisible platforms with the only hint being small snowflakes crashing on nothing
That was pretty obvious.
>ghosts you can't hit unless you have a specific weapon type, use a specific item that's otherwise worthless, or you're cursed
>ghosts can phase through walls and your shield, but still block your way and fuck your shit up
Meh. Not an issue unless you're really bad and somehow run out of curses.
>die to the abyss unless you killed this specific boss and read the item description for the it ring (admittedly less bullshit than the rest).
Except this long fall is the only one in the game you can survive at all. And the game drops lots of hints about Abysswalking well before you get to that point.
>tfw tower knight tried the same shit on me in des earlier
Good thing hes so slow otherwise I probably would have reached escape velocity as well
>the least unique franchise from has ever created.
That's Otogi.
>dude influences lmao
fuck off retard, and it’s this kind of shit I’m talking about, this slow, ugly fuck has like 3 moves, literally anything from Demon’s is better than this
I hope that one mod will actually get done and release. I'm sure a reason why so many people have such a hate boner for this game is that it looks like dung most of the time.
>g-g-git gud
Do kings field or shadow tower hold up? I played through Des for the first time recently and had a great time, was thinking about going further back.
>Phoneposter
>Using tranny words like 'literally'
>tutorial boss has no moves
Just like the phat demon in des or the asylum demon in das1
Too bad him having two phases invalidates your claim.
Also he has 5 moves before he rips his arm off boy-o
Absolutely. Basically the rest of the game just gets better and better, except for some of the optional stuff (but two of the three optional bosses are amazing).
>Dark Souls 2 looks like shi-
King's Field is the thinking man's game.
3 is shit white boys
>two phases
Is it really a second phase if all he does is a longer floors wipe
>isn’t posting at his bed at 2AM
Cope more
>last giant is supposed to be shit, he's the tutorial boss
>but also you can easily skip him and do all of these other bosses first
So which is it?
>front swipe
>side swipes
>stomp
>autistic stomp spam
>body slam
>armed swipe
>armed smash
It's the intended first boss of the game, it's fine that it has such a basic moveset.
Only if you can enjoy SLOW just as much as FAST
I think KF is the most cohesive trilogy From has ever made.
Shadow Tower is a fucking hassle though even for me and I am a huge Fromsoft faggot that loved shit like Eternal Ring and Evergrace when I was 11
If you can put it in yout mind that the slow turn speed is to keep combat challenging it can be fun. The graffix are actual ass in KF japan though. If you could do 180s quickly the game would be trivialized into nothing.
The implications on souls lore is unreal though. It covers so much and adds a fresh perspective on the duality of forces of nature.
I like DS2 but even in prettier places like this the magic wears off when you enter a room and it's another shitty empty square.
