This one has always stood out to me since childhood because, not only are the buttons and especially stick absolute piss, but the layout and shape just make them even worse.

These things were really popular back in the day, but they were pretty shit. One neat thing though was you could screw in a little joystick in the dpad. Wasn't comfortable at all, but neat idea I guess.

I feel like fan made controllers can be forgiven. Like yeah I'm sure it sucks to play with that, but no one ever intended to sell that actual people, it's just someone's pet project. And in a lot of ways, that pretty cool, regardless of how well that controller would feel in your hands.

None of you ever had to deal with these fucking pieces of shit. But they were the worst. When you think of Atari controllers everyone pictures the Atari 2600 controller. They big square box with the joystick pictured in this post: The Atari 7800 had these controllers. Thin and rounded on the base. You had to hold them in one hand and control the top with the other. There is only one button like the 2600 but it's on both sides for righties and lefties. What makes this controller truly terrible is that it was impossible to use with one of the most popular games to be released on the 7800, Robotron 2084.
Robotron 2084 required players to use both controllers at once. One for movement and one for aiming. Which was possible on the 2600 controllers with a big wide flat base on the ground. But these rounded shoehorn mother fuckers need two hands to control. If you put it down it would just roll over when you tried to move the joystick.
People had to come up with creative solutions like duct taping them to the floor, or vice grips, or..

It's a drum set. I assume the software used makes a different sound based on which buttons are pressed, effectively simulating hitting different regions on a real drum. Why someone would do this instead of just buying an electronic drum kit I'll never know.
