That is a pretty prevalent theme. Androids go crazy or desert when they lose their purpose. What I got was a message about living life and appreciating it, whether or not is endemically meaningless. Almost every character in this game is searching for something to give their life meaning, they are in the existential quest to define their life in some way that it becomes their obsession. The most telling moment when the game decides to say: "Fuck it!" is when Pascal ditches the Nietzsche book he is reading. Of course, all the suffering and totally real human-like feelings of androids and robots can be viewed as either a grim reminder that many died without finding or knowing what defined their life, or they're just an allegory for actual humans.
