>gave my switch to my friend >extremely bored because of this lockdown >dig up my 3ds and see I have pokemon ultra sun that I dont remember buying >save file has 9 hours on it >restart the game since I dont remember what I was doing anyway >cant even make it 20 minutes without being annoyed at almost everything >go to the eshop and purchase pokemon yellow >home
I know thia has become a meme but the zoomer trash of today has no clue how good the original was. From the music to the overall feel. Gen 1 was such a fantastic generation. It was real pokemon. Not like the awful garbage they spit out now.
>tfw never finished pokemon yellow after beating pokemon gold
Ian Peterson
>I know thia has become a meme but the zoomer trash of today has no clue how good the original was. FRLG exists. There's no need to waste my time with RBY when the superior version exists.
t. played that shit back in 1996
Brayden Reed
Gens 1-5 are all good Gen 6 is mediocre but still playable Gen 7+ is when it all goes to shit
Nathaniel Cooper
I think so much of this is despite being rough around the edges and some parts being slow, it doesn't feel like it outright is wasting your time. Games today have so much fucking waiting around in cutscenes and slow dialog. Hell, even menu transitions in most modern games are slow as fuck and less snappy than they used to be.
Granted, Pokemon was never the fastest game in this regard, but it somehow got even slower over time.
Jack Myers
I might get hate for this but I feel like the show is what lead to the downfall of Pokémon. The core soul, the sheer atmosphere has become so fundamentally different they don't even feel like the same thing anymore. Even into gen 3 it had the soul but it was changing. You can follow this strange dilution of the mystery, the abstract and and the lack of attention to them from generation to generation.
David Peterson
You have to stop pretending already. All Pokemon games are good, and will always be.
Tyler Stewart
It started going to shit in 5.
8 is literally what you'd expect from 5 selling so damn well still. It's everything bad about Black and White taken to the extreme in every way.
Jonathan White
>It started going to shit in 5. Only if you were an angry fag whose favorite Kantomons didn't make the main game. BW was the pokemon game for the pokemon fans, not the fad chasers who dumped the series it stopped being popular after Gen 1.
Noah Ortiz
The show is another show of symptoms for the brand.
TPC cheaped out and ended the contract behind the back of everyone working on it at 4Kids because they thought you wouldn't notice or care. All because they wanted to save money without ever even asking if they'd take paycuts.
Which clearly many of them would have considering some of them did return after 4Kids went under (though stupidly not to their old roles).
If they were willing to fuck over a company who partially owned them at the time (they owned 3% of TPC as part of the license agreement) to save a few bucks then they're absolutely cutting corners everywhere.
It didn't do anything to the series, it just felt bad around that time and continues to be now because it was being handled badly by people who don't give a fuck about quality.
Dominic Butler
>play Blue back when it first came out >hated that there was no run button and the bicycle is useless since you can't use it indoors and couldn't get one until you reached Vermillion City >Gen 3 onward give the player the ability to run with Gen 4 allowing you to run indoors >never return to Gens 1 and 2 ever again The ability to run is too good. Only reason you'd willingly play Red, Blue, Gold or Silver again is if you wanted a Hidden Ability Pokemon imported into Sword and Shield.
Christopher Brooks
Black and White seems pretty good... but that might be because I'm playing in Japanese and having fun with the language so it's like being a kid again.
Elijah Rivera
You explained my frustration perfectly. So much useless dialog and talking.
Cameron Reyes
>Black and White seems pretty good That's because it is. BW is one of the few pokemon games that can be called one of the best because there's no major issue plaguing the game like the others. No level curve issue, no lack of split issue, no bad distribution issue.
Dominic Ortiz
BW1's only problem is being wordy at times, beside that it's great.
Elijah Wright
>BW1's only problem is being wordy at times That, and the number of discounted online modes. But that's side content that doesn't affect the main game.
Oliver Jenkins
Every game after gen3 save heart gold/soul silver is total dogshit.
Jackson Brooks
pokemon always was garbage easy kiddy shit they just sold merchandise, play smt or digimon true games
>Every game after gen3 Gen 3 outside of FRLG was dogshit. >save heart gold/soul silver is total dogshit. And so was HGSS for being a remake that didn't fix shit. Platinum is the greatest game to come out of the period of Gens 2-4.
Michael King
>4Kids was the good guy all along
Julian Clark
FRLG is objectively better. I still have my gameboy and pokemon yellow & red but haven't touched it since the GBA games came out.
Nicholas Allen
No.
Unskippable cutscenes telling you shit you already know does not make a good pokemon game.
Jackson Baker
Its true. Pokemon is a juggernaut in the entertainment industry. Clothing, lunch boxes, toys, breakfast cereal. The game is actually a very small part of it. Not everyone has a nintendo, but most people can watch the show.
Blake Williams
>All Pokemon games are good, and will always be. Get the fuck out, shill.
Matthew Anderson
>I know this has become a meme but the zoomer trash of today has no clue how good the remake was. Moemon exists. There's no need to waste my time with FRLG when the superior version exists.

Daily reminder that if you weren’t alive yet, or are not old enough to remember, Pokemania, your opinion of Pokémon is completely worthless.
Liam Kelly
Where are all the retards screaming FUCK DEXIT Probably dead now
Dominic Perez
Gen 3, 4 and 5 are objectively the best Pokemon games. Gen 2 and 1 are ok (mostly due nostalgia), everything else is trash. This is a fact not an opinion, if you disagree you're retarded and wrong.
>Daily reminder that if you weren’t alive yet, or are not old enough to remember, Pokemania, your opinion of Pokémon is completely worthless. >if you're weren't part of a fad that means you're not a real fan That's like being proud of being one of the many normies who took to the streets with their phones during the peak of Pokemon Go. Very gay.
Luke Parker
I lived for pokemon growing up. I would get new cards almost everyday. I had the card binders, toys, games, school accessories, board games, movies. I carried and took all that shit everywhere in a single backpack like some sort of Poke'autist. At church I would literally pray to God to make pokemon real. With all that said I must say that Pokemon peaked and went downhill after Gen 2.
Nolan Baker
>bicycle is useless since you can't use it indoors get a load of this bad boy
>op buys yellow >op pic is for blue OP is a fag like always.
Brayden Ramirez
I agree. I still played gens 3 and 4, mostly for the remakes. But it was never the same. Never fucked with anything past gen 4.
Julian White
>Gen 4 It's Gen 2. Totodile is the only good all things considered.
Austin Ross
Switch HGSS and Platinum and it's correct.
Dylan Powell
The only thing gay here is being a fucking zoomer who thinks all that bullshit you just said is an acceptable argument to the claim that not being around for Pokemania makes your opinion worthless. Shut the fuck up and leave, you are too young to be here.
Landon Howard
Emerald-B2/W2 should be much more level with all those games higher around B/W (which is worse than B2/W2. Also Gen 1 and 2 should be higher, certainly higher than gen 7.
Jason Gray
I miss when Pokemon had some bite to it. Now it's too sterile, too clean. There's exceptions, of course, but it seems like it's too kiddy in almost every instance. I don't know how else to describe it. Remember when Mewtwo blew up an island and killed a bunch of people in the first movie? Remember how Team Rocket were selling Slowpoke tails in Gold & Silver? Hell, even the notion that we might be brainwashing Pokemon into following orders in gen 5 was a step in the right direction. It's like they were sprinkling more adult themes into this series to attract everyone, making the older kids and adults like it, which would make the younger kids want it, and so on. Am I just reading too much into this?
This track is a true masterpiece. The density of notes, while not feeling too overwhelming, especially using those fucking instruments, is just astonishing.
Jeremiah Long
>the villain's motivation in the newest game is "we'll run out of power in a hundred years" Fuck this whole mess
Gabriel Bell
user, that's from Blue. Not yellow.
Nolan Morgan
Not the guy you’re arguing with, but the only buzzword I see in his post is zoomer, which seems to be what exactly you are. I would just stop, my dude.
Alexander Collins
>digimon became "titty girls and girly men you could control" What did Bandai Namco mean by this
Nathaniel Martinez
>the zoomer trash of today has no clue how good the original was. >mentions downloading yellow on a zoomer system >Modern pokemon games fellate kanto
>Not the guy you’re arguing with, but Don't make it so obvious my dude that's cringe/
Robert Perez
Slightly, the main thing is typically clean but there's some good points. Pokemon Y was going to have Lysandre just fucking kill everyone because Yveltal was the pokemon of death, also the loli had Zygarde just kill him in the anime. Plus there's Mimikyu and Bewear that are quoted to have killed people, but Bewear is pokedex only, Mimikyu has almost killed Meowth. 90% of the megas have edgelord pokedex entries Though from what I know that's it.
Parker Cooper
Modern games fellate Kanto because they have no originality to begin with
Cooper Williams
You know what's a good generation? Gen 4. Absolute.Fucking.Kino. The sprites, the characters, the pokemon, the animations, the reigon, the music, it's all great. HGSS are amazing too. That's peak pokemon for me. Gen 5 was good too, but I didn't like the pseudo 3D sprites.
>Modern games fellate Kanto because they have no originality to begin with Modern games fellate Kanto because that's what the majority of the buyer base wants: Kanto. XY proved this.
Alexander Myers
Gold and Silver were superior, though.
Camden Ross
Sun and Moon are probably going to be my last Pokemon games period. I got X and Y because several friends were playing it, and breeding mons and battling against one another was fun as fuck, especially since I used lower tier mons like Jumpluff in my teams and would still do well against my bros. Didn't bother with ORAS, but then they said theyd do the same thing with SuMo, so I bought it and found out only one other friend bought it and couldn't bother finishing it. I bred 3 mons and then just stopped, I couldnt do it.
Not saying XY was good, mind you, was just the first online Pokemon experience I had. Plus right before people could add whatever mons they wanted to in the game, it was fun going to /vp/ and grabbing breeding rejects and in turn breeding 5/6 IV mons.
Julian Hughes
For what it's worth, SwSh has a really good breeding system and multiple breeders, including one in the wild area.
Grayson Davis
blame japan and their shitty taste in pkmn
Brandon Clark
That's kind of what I mean, yeah. It's not as obvious as before that these creatures are, well, monsters. It's like they're trying to hide it because cute shit sells more. I like cute shit, sure, but it just feels like this series has no agency in its plots or themes anymore.
I mentioned gen 5 in my previous post because I've actually replayed the games up to gen 6 sort of recently and it felt like a step down in almost every way, like in order to add all the good new things, Megas (although this is apparently debatable, I'm not into competitive), trainer customization, that they had to take something out to make room for it.
I don't really like how this word is thrown around on Yas Forums nowadays, but it really feels like Pokemon has lost its soul to me.
Mason Martinez
>implying anything past 3 was good
Connor Johnson
>>implying anything pre-Gen 4 was good
Daniel Thomas
Oh shit, I have a Pokemon folder. Hadn't opened it in years. Honestly I don't blame anyone if Gen 3 or above was their first game but any RBYGSC OGs who shit on the original two gens should be ashamed.
>Gen 3 is so bad that they need to rerelease old games to salvage the series
