Okay, so I've watched the Saxxy SFM vid called Reinstated where Adrian Shephard finds himself in City 14 (Beta City 17 in other words).
Noticed something odd though, there was a scene where Combine aircraft seems to be intercepting the Osprey that's Gman and Shephard are in (This maybe can explain how Combine was able to capture him). Could this be a indications of Valve picking up this fan lore along with rest of the Beta content?

I unironically believe the Gman in Alyx was the best Gman. Shapiro absolutely outdid himself acting in this one. Just a free lines but every single one hits you like a brick. I'm comparison in episode 2 Gman was just a boring plot interruption.

I love his design in Alyx, he looks like the HL1 model and HL2 model at the same time.
Alyx missing is no big deal though. Eli being dead was a huge blow to the resistance.
He's just a more fully realized model of a low res polygon HL1 design and a poor color coded HL2 model. The saturation on the HL2 model was intense.
No, it's among the worst. Very few otherworldly mannerisms. Direct and straightforward lines, no mystery, dry writing.
Hl2 ending and ep2 is still the best gman performance and writing.

The message of "Prepare for unforeseen consequences" was specifically delivered to Eli. It was more interesting, I agree, when those consequences meant the advisors got the skinny on the resistance from Eli's brain. But it still holds water that it's a consequence.

The Alyx actress did a good job in the conversation with him, you could hear how uncomfortable and scared she was, barely holding her shit together. I think it added a lot to the scene and enhanced the gmans presence.
