There's a game I really want made, but it's failing on KS right fucking now. It's a tactical RTS with animu girls shooting people in the face and driving interwar tanks. It has 4 hrs left on its campaign, and still missing a bunch of cash.

If a Kickstarter project doesn't pass its threshold, the website assumes that the project cannot go on, and the dev never sees a cent.
I don't follow a lot of kickstarters, but this is the the tightest goal funding deadline i've seen on a project. good luck

Some animefag will pay the remaining amount when it gets to the last 10 minutes or some shit.
Kickstarter is very cognizant of the failed projects that hurt its reputation. Cutting no slack for the original funding cost lowers the likelihood of a creator using all the money and having nothing to show for it.

It's against their terms of service to pledge to your own project, so hopefully they were smart enough to make a deal with a friend or family member beforehand. If they used a credit card or paypal registered to their own name, Kickstarter would shut them down.
