Thoughts on the latest Deep Rock patch? Find any pickaxe pieces yet?

shit patch, nothing changed of significance. They failed to balance any of the overclocks and the game keeps getting buggier.

I wish they would fix items\yourself falling through the floor. Also bulk detonators seem to be spawning more frequently now. Earlier I decided to try a nice comfy hazard 2 mission because i didn't want a challenge and three spawned.

I also wonder if it's possible to find the dead miners remnants before finding the helmet?

They buffed both of my favorite weapons hard. I'd be thrilled, but it's almost to the point I'm not sure if it's sporting to use them anymore.

At least people won't yell at me for using Breach Cutter or Cryo anymore.

They're finally perfect again and both are fantastic at different things. I still prefer the grenade launcher and flamethrower but both cryo and BC are viable again. Buffing or adding new functionality is way better than nerfing

>Buffing or adding new functionality is way better than nerfing
Definitely. It's just a strange sensation to love a weapon that was admittedly gimp for a time there and then suddenly see it raise so dramatically in an instant. If you read the patch notes, basically every aspect of the Cryo was raised simultaneously. I didn't need it, but I guess I'm happy about it?

It was so trash and now finally comparable especially with an OC like snowball. Engi's electric SMG is finally kinda satisfying to use but the ammo efficiency is still meh. I guess the devs were trying out different strength levels for weapons to see people's reactions cause almost everything bad is undone besides the scout focus shot nerf and new pheromone nerf

they made the breach cutter actually good now so I'm happy

the only good overclocked was nerfed, meaning the damage and ammo efficiency of both the freezing and damage based builds on the cryo remained the same. The only functional change was a minor reduction in charge up time. Its still basically the same

>lost track of number of games played since update
>still no single pickaxe/armor part found
Fuck this shit, 33% chance on long missions my ass

Still looking for parts.
Liking the overhaul.

>the only good overclocked was nerfed
Nigger the whole point of moving strength from the "good overclock" to the base weapon is to make all the other overclocks more viable.

except they all still suck. Snowball is a novelty that makes the base gun damage useless, ice spear does piss all for damage on single targets like dreads or bulks, and the others aren't even worth mentioning. It just watered down the gun

So, when are we getting a new mission type?

I haven't played since perky update

No no no no, we want cosmetics, add new epic beards and skins

at least they made plasma cutter and cryogun actually useful

The new perks were a turnoff at first. But I really like a couple of the new ones. Especially Beastmaster. A tamed slasher is fucking insane. People leaned on Iron Will too hard, so I'm not surprised people are mad about it.

this game have more than 8 different enemy types or 2 guns yet? maybe more game modes than the 5 they offer?

cryo is still shit

why is difficulty in this game completely random. Some levels you will be assfucked the moment you leave pod and enemies literally wont stop coming other times you wont even encounter a swarm. Its pretty bizarre. Also why is point extraction 10 times harder than anything else

There are 16 guns, not counting utility weapons like the satchel charge. You carry 2 guns per class, out of 4 with a couple being unlockable with a little effort. And the enemy variety has skyrocketed since the early days. Your complaints feel out of d8, m8. Unless you were genuinely asking.

its good if you go for max freeze build
two taps freezes entire pack of glypids. Its very efficient with ammo

>vampire
>that pickaxe mod that ups power attack damage to 240
>berserk
>see you in hell

Attached: berserker.jpg (150x230, 21.48K)

Nope. It's an instakill on fliers. It slows down enemies, and eventually neuters them if they don't die first. It has respectable range and damage now. If you take the "Fragile" upgrade, you even have a very good chance of shattering grunts and lower instantly. It's a beastly weapon with many strong suits.

Point extraction is hard mainly because it throws swarms at you at a much higher rate than any other mission. All other missions either have no swarms, swarms only when you decide to activate certain objectives, or swarms at a relaxed pace. PE simply just reduces the interval between swarms until it becomes permanent. PE also tends to land the escape pod in rooms you haven't been in since there are no compacted dirt walls to keep those areas separated.

yeah I get that. I just dont understand why its so hard for no apparent reason. Maybe they should buff turrets

I really don't think that pickaxe customization was necessary. We're never in any position to properly look at the fucking thing unless you spam Salute over and over. It's not a horrible addition, but I really don't think that it's a feature that warrants actually having to go out of your way to unlock parts for.
Also, the new armor paints are neat, but I'm kinda annoyed that the original schemes for armor aren't available. Like, the normal grey and black of the Mk. 5 Gunner armor isn't an option anymore, despite being the look I would've preferred over the new options. Is it just a bug I'm having that removes them, or are they legitimately gone?

It's just another distraction and thing you can work towards with more cosmetic shit to scatter into the mines. I'm fine with it, but yeah it is kind of silly. Doesn't really feel like it took away from anything more important to me. At least we got armor skins now. That bit of customization goes a long way.

plasma cutter is goat now
>plasma trail with return to sender oc
incredible
smg being good is appreciated too

Is plasma trail better than Triple Split? I've only tried using triple because I love a wall of death.

DRG is the perfect example of 'power creep' in videogames, by means of game updates and buffs.
The game has continued to add more and more things, like weapon buffs, perks, and overclocks with no significant downsides that empower the player to be stronger than they ever have before, while neglecting to bring any new challenges that offset these additions.

The game is easy to breeze through on Haz 5, the game desperately needs new challenges for the player.

>nerf everything my pussy hurts!
kill yourself

I didn't try it much but the plasma trail damage seems nearly nonexistent. Try using it on some swarmers somehow I doubt it could even kill those

DRG is the perfect example of 'gameplay first' in videogames, by means of game updates and buffs.
The game has continued to add more and more things, like weapons, perks, and overclocks with no significant problems that hamper the player to be stronger than they were before, while concentrating on bringing new challenge that offsets power creep.

The game is easy to breeze through until Haz 5, the game definitely will get more content for the player.

If you, or anyone, legitimately want to argue against my point, please elaborate further, I am interested to see if you are able to explain.
What exactly has the game brought to further challenge the player now that he has been given all these additional buffs? I like the game, and I like doing the Haz5/Dives with my friends, but the game has become undeniably easier to the point where it has become so routine on how to beat levels. The game has overall become significantly easier than even just a few updates prior, as no significant challenges were added alongside the power creep.

That has all to do with 'gameplay first' btw, I hope you can understand that.

Well, haz 5 itself was a later addition I believe. And all the more tough monsters were added like the Oppressor to discourage behavior like bunkering, and the Bulk Detonator which is just a gigantic "fuck you" in proximity related objectives (it's good though, don't you dare change it devs). And the Glyphid Menace which is way more threatening than the old acid spitters if you can't dodge in an open space.

Yes, and? Just beg for them to add hazard 6 or something. They cannot account for .1% of players who are breeze through the hardest difficulties when balancing weapons. A lot of weapons got some much needed buffs/rebalances and we don't need those taken away.

Are enemies supposed to be able to hit you through the minehead platform from below? I've always felt that's bullshit since they can clip through and hit you, but you can't shoot them through the platform.

Allegedly that was patched out in this update. They removed the pathfinding ability under the platform now. It seems they agree that was kind of bullshit.

go back to discord and stop posting where you don't belong

ok retard

>seething that the devs don't agree with your remove everything fun philosophy

nice goalpost

What does Discord have to do with anything? Are you just a paranoid schizo, or is there some sinister cabal dedicated to pointing out objective flaws in DRG that only you have been made aware of? He's not arguing that they should remove features because they make them too easy, he's arguing that they should add opposing elements as well to keep the difficulty in-line. As it stands there's plenty of shit that outright makes the game easier, and there needs to be a counterbalance to this - something that makes the extra help actually necessary instead of being overkill.

how do you interpret the request to "add more challenges to the game" as "remove fun"?
Your reading comprehension sucks, retard

>still seething and not fucking off to discord

Every update the performance has been getting worse. I used to get 144fps easy, now I'm lucky to break 80 in a mission.

I'd like for them to add more big mining machinery down in the mines. Maybe new gamemodes could incorporate it.

Attached: Red Faction drill.jpg (512x358, 93.29K)

>still not being in discord and being here

Above 60, who cares?

because it also frequently drops below 60 during bigger swarms

2011 called, it wants its "60fps is enough masterrace" back

It's well known that faggots with WAY too many hours in the game go to the official discord to try to get everything turned into the most autistically difficult grind. They're just a vocal minority though. You really don't think the devs aren't wanting to do exactly what you're saying?
>add opposing elements as well to keep the difficulty in-line
you're bitching about the devs adding player options in tandem with new enemies and content. They're already stating MANY times it's on their fucking timeline that they want to add more enemy and mission variety but the. game. isn't. even. released. yet. lmfao you faggots will find anything to cry about

It literally does not matter to anyone who doesn't just enjoy seeing big numbers in their FPS counter.

Pickaxe customization is absolute bullshit. I got 2 pieces, and you can barely see them, because it consists of SIX god damn tiny microscopic pieces, plus the color. It will take ages to build something decent.
Also 11 maps and 0 events today, fucking really.

>more grinding inside a grinding game
yo dawg I heard you like world of warcraft

guess you've never actually seen a framerate above 60

A machine recovery mission could be cool. Picture this:
>pod it sent down
>your goal is to power up a lost mining drill vehicle, use it to mine through a string of extra-hard ores that picks can't break, having it move slowly horizontally as it digs and advances\
>you have to follow it through the tunnel it digs, protecting the relatively fragile machine from bugs and bug-related damages
>if it takes too much damage, it needs to be repaired before it can progress
>at the end of its travel, you need to unload its ore box and lug it back to the drop pod (maybe also disassemble the drill partly and lug those pieces back as well?)
Opinions?

>he thinks games in Early Access that receive updates is any different than "released" games that still receive game updates.
you've been played, friend.
Also, it was never suggested that it become more of a grind. The power creep has made it so that there are no significant gameplay challenges to supplement the constant buffs.

they gotta add something to appease the 1000+ hours players.

No human eye has.

That's basically exactly what I had in mind. I love it.

Attached: 1567585703522.gif (389x286, 1.12M)

>buggier
This. Every patch is new bugs, and you can shove your puns up your arse.
>pheromone hit sound almost always missing
>fuel cell/cosmetic box/whatever repair sound missing sometimes
>hidden resupplies are literally virtually broken and are not intractable anymore

>DA HUMIN EYE IS UH CAMERUH
What a moron

I can confirm that grunts and swarmers can still bite you from under the platform. It's especially fucked when you play with the lethal bugs modifier. When I play engineer the first thing I do now is shoot platforms underneath the minehead platform to block it off.

Don't take it to glacier because all mobs take longer to freeze

This: I'm not arguing about wanting more of a grind, I'm saying I'd like more bug variety to my bug-killing game. The devs wanting to add more bugs eventually doesn't change the fact that they haven't done so yet, but they've instead released another batch of cosmetic fluff to tide us over. Sure, you could argue that what they added was very easy to implement and that they're probably working on new bugs as we speak, but I still think that little fluff like a customized pickaxe feature is something that could've waited to be added post-1.0.

It' true, unless he has 144hz monitor, which he clearly doesn't.

i was thinking that last night
imagine a whole bioma of a abandoned mining expedition so old that the bug have adapted to it
since the canon say that deep rock is the only mining company that succed in having a foot in the planet is only logical that less competent companys try to get the minerals before DRG

I'm not sure about that. It's natural to assume that ice critters have ice resistance. But having taken it there, most of them do freeze about as fast.

>It's true
No it isn't
