I loved all of these games, including the DLCs. Hope we get a Dishonored 3 set in Tyvia in a decade or so.
Why did they literally rehash the first game for the sequel? Why couldn't they come up with something original? Imagine if we had a game where you play as an Overseer that got marked and exiled from the Seers and you have to try redeeming yourself trying to remove the mark or convince the seers somehow to let you back. Another idea would to basically make a spiritual sequel to Thief where you play as some lowlife thief that got the Outsider's attention to get marked and you use your new powers to steal shit so you can get rich and move out of the shitty ghettos into the nice part of town. The final level can have you try to steal from Dunwall Tower where Corvo will hunt you down if he finds any trace of you and would be impossible to take down because he outclasses you in every way so you can only evade him.
Yeah, I dunno, it was lame. They rehashed the characters and the main concept, presumably to keep up the high stakes while also keeping up with the "Dishonored" title. But a disgraced overseer in Tyvia would be kino for the third one.
They should've had a different title if they're going to be so autistic about every game needing to be about getting dishonored.
I know a great deal, bodyguard
I think the next game will be set in Pandyssia. it's the only place not explored in both games and the books. Tyviah looked cool in the novel though. i think we will have an announcement in 2022, for Dishonored 10 years anniversary.
The role playing game just released, it's actually really good and even have some new lores. anyone want the PDF?
Why did death of the outsider failed? Is it really because Billie was black and that no one played the DLCs of 1? Heck, Billie wasn't even a bad character. she wasn't Daud for sure but still was alright.
BY THE OUTSIDER
>tfw no crazy killer waifu
The real question is. Wtf happened in 2? the art style is just ugly as fuck compared to the first one and the level design is awful, is just not fun to play and is not memorable at all like the first one.
sjws
I don't think 2 is bad. it's not as memorable as 1. but it still was damn good, especially gameplaywise. i liked the artstyle even if it's different.
DOTO had a fantastic level design. it bombed though.
While Arkane seem pretty liberal, they also are pretty tame and actually gaves a shit about the lore. i'm not a very liberal guy and yet i still love very much the dishonored world.
pol's bogeyman?
Daily reminder Corvo first meet Emily when she was 11 and Corvo 18.
Corvo unironically was a pedo.
fuck, i meant Jessamine, not Emily.
>I think the next game will be set in Pandyssia
The only way I can see this happen is if
1) It's not a Dishonored game, more a Monster Hunter kind deal, or an open world or some shit
2) It's a game about a massive exploration/colonization attempt
I'd still prefer Tyvia
>Dishonored 2
>Awful level design
Holy cringola. For all the flaws 2 has, level design is most certainly not one of them.
Dishonored 2 needed completely new story, with a set of all new characters(maybe a cameo or two at best). I like 2's setting, but story was fucking shit. They killed all the mystery around outsider, and then decided to kill him for good in DOTO.
Sure you did, pedophile.
>not having a prequel with a young Granny rag in Pandyssia.
I presume Death of the Outsider failed for the same reasons Dishonored 2 did. The casual masses don't enjoy the Dishonored series. It's too linear for them and too focused on stealth, with the game being mostly trivialized with the powers.
Its ugly because the artstyle is for a grim city, but you are in some kind of spain
also the level design is awesome
shit new powers
barely any new locations
butchered the outsider's character
Well yeah, Corvo is a pedo.
Dude married a girl he meet and lived with when she was 11 and him 18.
Then he fucked her and got Emily
A proof Daud is the superior protag.
i really didnt like that they brough delilah back. it just feels like a continuation of the knife of dunwall instead of being a continuation of the main game.
My dude, she went there basically alone, with at most a crew of 10 to 20 people. Who the fuck are your enemies in the game? Almost exclusively monsters? Then it's not really a Dishonored game anymore, as I said.
Plus, prequels are cringe.
Arkane studio is cursed. wonder if Deathloop will meet the same fate.
>role playing game
huh?
Pic related is more interesting and mysterious than the outsider anyway.
and the outsider lore already was set in stone in Dishonored 2. listen to the lyrics of the song "Born in the Month of Darkness" youtube.com
Yeah, they made a ton of mistakes, like having Corvo and Emily come back, but the biggest one really was Delilah. There was no good reason to bring her back when she already had a perfect closure in the first game's DLC. Really mind-boggling shit.
yeah her backstory was pretty meh too would have been better if there was someone else pulling the strings
>the level design is awful
The clockwork whatever tower is one of the most memorable levels in video gaming to me, it's so unique in so many ways and I still wonder how they did it technically
modiphius.net
I'm importing the PDF on mega right now.
arkane are one of the few dev studios who have great level design.
With a few ini tweaks this game still looks amazing, that art-style doesn't age.
there could be uncivilized mystical tribes
Dishonored 2 is probably one of the games that suffered the most from bad first impression, the gameplay was improved over the first one, but the performance issues and bugs the game released with, when the first game was optimized to run on toasters without a problem, not to mention the development cost, ended up leaving the series in a bad spot, then Death of the Outsider came and failed to bring back players, which ended up bringing doom to the series
The Dishonored fanbase already seethes at not-really-retcons. Outright retcons like those would be a whole new ballgame.
Arkane has been BLACKED
trust me you dont want to see a third game
they dealt with her character way too early in the story
FUCK CULTIST
Deathloop looks interesting. Good thing I'm not a Yas Forumsnigger
Wasn't Deathloop secretly canned? I swear i remember reading how Bethesda was cutting some of the studios they have in posession into "support dev studios" Ghostwire by Tango also suffered this fate, a creative lead leaving before the game is barely even kickstarted into production should be enough of a red flag.
Don't think so, didn't they said they weren't going to make Dishonored 3
playing with minimal hud is the chad's way of playing dishonored.
even better is binding use to right click so you get as close to thief 1 & 2 as possible
The game lore is such a mess. It's implied we're in a crapsack world because of the conspirators, but the games also imply things were similar under Jessamine. People were still under the Abbey's boot and they were still treated as disposable (recall the Heart recounting how many workers died building the Kaldwin Bridge for example). The game isn't even acknowledging that Corvo was and still is a thug for an oppressive regime and presents putting Emily on the throne as an unambiguously good thing.
Dishonored is a game that isn't hard to play without a hud, only concern really is ammo and stuff like that, but since there audio cues for void stuff you end up not feeling as lost
the world wasnt perfect before but it definitely got worse when the lord regent brought over a plague of void rats to infect everyone and crumble society
I don't think so.
They said the serie was resting but that a dishonored 3 was not out of the windows. but that it would be with a new cast and with a new story. only sharing the universe.
The game got derailed pretty hard by developers clearly trying to push a very shoehorned "authority bad" take.
I think it's done on purpose, even Corvo himself said he's not a good man. but without him, the world would have stayed a shitshow. Emily's reign, while far from perfect, still is far better.
Jessamine ignored all the problems, not out of evilness but out of naivety. she was way too hopeful.
Not really. The last comics even had some dudes preaching democraty and revolution that got fucked by Corvo and Emily.
it's just most people, men or women, in the dishonored world are fucking douches. The ratio is like 50% evil, 25% neutral, 25% good.
honestly i just can't agree, in dishonored the world has everyone being douches not because they just are, but because they "exploit" their authoritative power, except everyone exploits that power for any reason possible even if its the most shallow stupid take
the revolution takes cement that imo
it really just goes to show that for such a grand narrative to work it really needs a visionary who isn't a hack, say what you will about kojima but at least the dude is well versed in the literature he copies from
Why did Dishonored 2 throw away the omnious nautical horror feel the setting had in the first one? Even the Outsider was demoted from being a implied Nyrlathotep like figure in-universe to some teenager that got his neck sliced by a cult thousands of years back.
Billie in Dishonored 1 was cuter.
>Even the Outsider was demoted from being a implied Nyrlathotep like figure in-universe to some teenager that got his neck sliced by a cult thousands of years back.
He was always meant to be both
No shit. That game was a decade earlier.
Yeah honestly this is my big problem with it. It doesn't feel like a standalone story, it's just rehashing the first game. Which sucks because Dishonored has a unique world that is very easy to get sucked into
The big nautical horror is likely the dead god we find in the void in DOTO.
there's a lot of flying whales in his area.
Pandyssia also has walking whales. and Pandyssia is very linked to the void.
If the next game is post DOTO, i hope we will see the old outsider, but just a random cameo as a random citizen.
Well, if the good ending is the canon one. even the Billie novel post doto answers that. it has a lot of interesting lore things in it.
Not really. Dishonored 1 was in 2012 and the dlc in 2013. Dishonored 2 was in 2016 and the dlc (doto is a dlc, just stand alone) in 2017.
What did people think of Prey? I thought Mooncrash was awesome.
I was pretty good. Morgan was a chad.
But the arkane curse striked again and the game also bombed
Blame Bethesda for advertising it like it's Half Life.
A boogeyman of a boogeyman, can such a thing exist? Yes.
If only Arkane could become independent again. they are still very talented but Bethesda fuck them over in the marketing.
They are now also apparently a "helper studio" to the other Bethesda studios....Which is deifnitely not good, and is a mark of a studio that is in trouble.
he means it's a decade earlier in the lore retard
They helped on the last woftensein. worked on the map designs .
This explain why the shit game has kino maps.
they just announced a new game though?
I agree, her being the first target was anti-climactic.
