SMOD got a standalone fix in 2014. It's been bumpy, but it's 100% playable.

For a good part of the game I noticed how much Resistance 3 ripped off HL2, it actually felt like a reimagining of HL2 with better graphics

Hl2 is overrated. It's a bland boring corridor shooter. I got it christmas 2004 and I still cant understand why Yas Forums likes it so much

This really doesn't apply to things that are deliberately designed to impress by technological innovations. It's inherently going to be less impressive as those innovations are made standard and/or surpassed. It's not a joke that has lost it's humor because you've heard it so many times, it's something that has legitimately been made obsolete with time.

m8 SMOD never pretends to get the point of Half-Life 2. SMOD is a customizable mod whose focus is on action. Nobody ever said otherwise.

I played through black mesa, hl 2, ep 1 and 2 after a 10 years or so and forgot just how amazing these games are. So they must have been phenomenal back when they released. I ws too young to realise how important these games were when they first came out.

Get black mesa it's only like 15 quid and it's really good.

Same tbqh. I can't get enough of the series now. However I haven't got VR for Alyx but I feel like I should wait for the Index price to come down, as that's the best experience apparently.

I support HLA and do wish to get VR, but this is a valid point tbf. There's not enough games to justify the cost.
