Watch the Digital Foundry analysis of the XSX to realize that a lot of work went into how to cool the system down. It seems that with so many Cores in the Cpu, so many CUs in the GPU, so much Ram, the SSD and the small form factor the heat was becoming a very real issue. Also hear at what Cerny said on his presentation. His justification for the variable clockrate and lower CU count is all due to heat too.

Adding more cores and CUs increases power linearly while increasing clocks increases power quadratically. The PS5 will have a bigger problem with heat than XSX, especially with Microsoft already demonstrating superior cooling in the X1X.

From what I get the big problem they have with the PS5 is that they didn't think AMD would make such a giant comeback so their initial plan was using the old AMD hot and inefficient hardware so they put all their efforts into the only thing that was not AMD, the SSD.
Since you can't exactly turn around and change everything they're now stuck with that initial idea and have to deal with massive cooling problems.

I mean, that's what consoles do. The games are hundreds of GB and they shovel it into RAM 10GB at a time. It's really beneficial from the perspective of user experience to do that as quickly as possible.

I'm just trying to make sense as to why they're having such underpowered hardware while having massive cooling issues and they didn't say a single word about the new features of the recent AMD advancements. If they are indeed using the same end of the line hardware that MS is using then it doesn't make sense that they'd do that.

only a percentage of load times are shuffling raw data into the ram, a speed which is already close to maxed on on sata SSDs, the rest is calcluating logic, preparing shaders etc. the xbox will be faster at all of those.

They already showed gears 5 loading on xbone 2. 14 seconds
