What made you switch from piracy to legit software? It was the seamless access to updates bugfixes patches and dlc that did it for me

>What made you switch from piracy to legit software?
nothing. I just pirated Doom Eternal and I'm glad I didn't buy this pile of shit. Thanks for sponsoring these free games though, paypigs!
Seems OP somehow got dumber with age.
>What made you switch from piracy to legit software?
I what?
I bought grim dawn on gog and pirated the steam version later as the updates where several days behind on gog.
OP is the reason all your future game releases will feature unplayable bugs on day 1 and a 10GB patch to make the game actually playable two weeks after release
The narrowing of my interests, or rather, the narrowing of the market's willingness to provide interesting games. When there's only a handful of games I'd even waste the bandwidth pirating, it's very easy to justify buying them. Also helps that I make over 60k.
Sick of the viruses. Fuck the scumbags who put viruses in everything pirated.
Nothing.
Just don't use fitgirl and you will be fine
>repacker is the one who puts malware in the crack
You guys don't even try anymore, right?
So...we pirate it 2 weeks after release?
Or never as they got denuvo
>tfw you can't pirate a hardware and play HL:A
Games are cheap as fuck on Steam for me. Expensive games, I still pirate. Living in a thrid world is pain.
Just like the rest of games tho. You can't pirate a PC (yet).
I won't mind buying some VR headset once there is a decent catalog of games to pirate.
vidya wise it was the general trend towards shit and garbage, have to keep at least some studios that pander to my interests
software wise is free software, you can't pirate free software
Growing up. Getting a job. Obtaining disposable income. There being less and less games I actually want to play being released each year. The only thing I've pirated in the last 10 years is The Sims 3 Store content because that shit is a rip off and EA doesn't even care if you pirate it. People openly discuss pirating it on the official Sims forum, including instructions on how to do so, and all that happens is the mods warn there is no official support for pirated content.
Denuvo doesn't even last a single day anymore.
Getting a job. But mostly for softwear, still pirate games.
It's not about morality, i couldn't give a shit where my money goes. It's literally for the sake of convinience and increasing my number of steam games owned. Those fags who say they buy games to support devs are fucking lying, they just want to feel good about themselves, and also want others to see them as good people. Motivation always comes from selfishness
Honestly, a decent paying job.
Getting money
It was just a random piracy related pic. I didn't want to call you (or imply that you're) a moralfag. And yes, most buyfags are a bunch of Virtue signalling hypocrites.
This argument has never made sense to me. It's like when people argue that rich people who donate millions are doing it for ego and no the honest good of the act. Sure, who cares? Some random kid in Africa now gets to live because of the money raised. (replace with dev gets to get to keep their job for 3 more months).
just steal a headset bro
every year a new prodigy shows up to be the end-all-be-all denuvo cracker, then gets vanned and forced to stop working on them. day one denuvo cracks aren't sustainable.
most people can wait out a crack, but that's not what denuvo shines at. it shines at games-as-a-service multiplayer games that need to be cracked repeatedly to stay playable, like soul calibur.
if publishers and their developers get a little smarter, denuvo will die on its own, because those service games can just go online-only and have stricter authentication, and they can outpace current crackers.
Denuvo is meant to secure preorder sales dumbass. It was never meant to be a long term solution.
I switched from legit software to piracy to stop giving lying corporations money they don't deserve, for things which are non-refundable. Feels great to be saving all that dosh.
>it's meant secure first year sales
>wait no, now first month
>now first week
>now first day
>now preorders
I look forward to seeing where you backtrack to from there.
Nothing. I pirate every game I play these days, fuck EA, fuck Ubishit, fuck Zenimax. The only game I've bought in the last 3 years was Witcher 3.
Constant updates and multiplayer. Waiting for a crack update every time the game updates is annoying. Plus having actual income and less time to play.
If a game is good I dont mind paying for it when its on sale. If its not, why even waste time on it when theres so much better shit to play.
>Constant updates
You mean them finishing the game right? Those aren't updates. The game isn't complete. They just take your money a year earlier.
>The only game I've bought in the last 3 years was Witcher 3.
Why would you give money to a company that lies to you?
thx for kainposting
They didn't lie to me. They made a single player open world game, released it and I played it. No booster-packs, no season pass, no lewtboxes. They made a video game. I paid for it.
Yeah, is amazing how retards try to rationalize paying for unfinished games and anti-consumer tactics (DLCs, season passes, lootboxes, etc). Bonus points is they also say stuff like "devs are bros", "it makes feel the progression" or "is optional bro".
kys pirate scum
>What made you switch from piracy to legit software?
having money
After you, paypiggie.
Updates that break the online crack user, like creamapi for MHW.
Thats all I meant. Whether or not the game is complete is a whole another question I'm not trying to get into.
If I want to play with people I'm going to have to pay regardless if I agree with it or not or wait until russians crack it again so that I can play it until the next update breaks it.
For me it was growing up and getting a job. I realized that developers and publishers NEED that money to make new games and to continue working and feeding their families. I'm embarassed to say it took me so long to see the light but now I simply can't stand pirates. They are stealing and try to hide it with flowery language. It's theft plain and simple.
I only pay for video games and books. I pirate movies and music.
Online.
Just wait till the game is finished, you're not playing multiplayer games on a crack anyway so you're not missing out on any "live service" feature.
>obvious bait
Here's your free (You), move along now.
buying anything from those companies should be a punishable crime
I dont know how to pirate games. Seems complicated to do and I am afraid to get viruses.
nothing
Games nowdays aren't worth buying or pirating so i don't do any
>They didn't lie to me.
Yes, they did. Maybe not about something you cared about but CDPR is a company that has demonstrated they have no moral qualms with lying to people about their products. This is an objective fact. They are no better than any of those other companies you listed.
>This is an objective fact.
But you're going to make no effort at all to prove it's an "objective fact", you're just going to call it a fact? That's not how this works, user.
Come again?
Convenience and closing in on a salaried 6 figures management position. I have the money to spare since I eat healthy for breakfast and dinner anyways.
Less complicated than entering your credit card info
>now wishing the game even began production
>he's afraid to get viruses
>gives out his credit card info and personal details online instead
Do pay piggies really?
Same. I'm too stupid and don't know any "reliable" source
>The Witcher 3 will have 36 endings!
>There has been no downgrade! It's a smear campaign created by online trolls!
>The Witcher 3 will have full mod support!
>The PC is our primary platform! We will not compromise for the consoles!
CDPR publicly claimed all of these and none of them are true and they knew it. They knowingly lied to sell their product. They didn't give a shit.
nothing
Steam. Later also introduced sales meaning I don't ever have to pirate. Games are really cheap where I live thanks to regional pricing as is.
And also I got a job when I was 22 and stopped being a neet and a loser.
There are at most 1 or 2 games a year that interest me, if I think they're worth it I'll just buy it.
I'll still pirate the occasional new release that I don't think is worth the money and usually I'm right, glad I didn't pay 80 canuck bucks for doom eternal and sekiro (even tho that one was decent).
>The Witcher 3 will have 36 endings
ign.com
>There has been no downgrade! It's a smear campaign created by online trolls.
They admitted it was downgraded for consoles.
>The Witcher 3 will have full mod support!
nexusmods.com
>The PC is our primary platform! We will not compromise for the consoles!
There is no proof of them ever saying this.
I get being anti-corporate, but CDPR are pretty much the cleanest out there. You might want to do some research before you start spouting nonsense.
nothing - fuck copyright hounds and fuck you, absolute retard shill-bot
I usually buy stuff if I can afford it, but I'll go download something right now just to exercise my existential right to copy bits onto my computer.
>You can't pirate a PC (yet).
if you ever get access to replicator in the future - make sure to be ready for brainwash about how it makes you a terrorist and pedophile for supporting such immoral technology

>Denuvo is meant to secure preorder sales
