What are the best (and most stable) PS2 games available to emulate?
What are the best (and most stable) PS2 games available to emulate?
King Kong PS2
Summoner 2
FF10
FF12
Kingdom Hearts 1&2
Timesplitters 2
Okami
Devil May Cry
Pretty much nothing on 1.2
god hand
Slim pickings. Still strange to see that the current state of PS2 emulation is such crap. It's been how many years now? PC master beggars.
Blame Sony for making putting weird hardware in their systems.
>EMOTION ENGINE
>CELL
Devil May Cry 1&2
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Final Fantasy 10
Silent Hill 1&2
Metal Gear solid 2&3
Persona 3
Persona 4
Dragonquest 8
We Love Katamari
Gran Turismo 3
Resident Evil 4
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Digital Devil Saga 1&2
Xenosaga 3
Madden 08
The worst part is that the original video output from PS2 sucks ass. It's hard to make it look good nowadays.
Besides, any 3D game looks so much better when the internal resolution is increased by emulators that having so much trouble to emulate the PS2 is just sad, so sad.
>Silent Hill 1&2
Isn't there a "definitive way" of playing the heavily modded PC versions?
Samurai Western.
If you stick to the popular games they run fine. It's just the niche games that are trouble.
Dodoro
This may be old but it's what I had.
I truly wish there was a better PS2 emulator by now. The snowblind games still aren't perfect when I tried a build last month.
Ace Combat and Armored Core games
Is it true the experimental builds are better?
I wanna play Way of the samurai 2 and Siren 2 on it
Is Siren one playable?
Drakan: The Ancient's Gate. Basically the best open world PS2 game around next to gta 3
Soul Calibur 3 is pretty stable. I mean, it goes 20 fps at the chronicles of the sword mode, but it works exactly the same in the ps2
I think so
Yes. The "stable" build is outdated as fuck, don't bother with it
What's wrong with simple RGB composite?
>Ctrlf-F Dark Cloud
>0 results
Fuck you, Dark Cloud
I wanted to play DC2 but it ran like garbage last time I tried. Got the game on it's release and I never finished it.
Armored Core 2 runs ok.
Don't try to emulate AC Nexus
Does it get better later on? I tried playing it and did the first area but it felt kind of dull.
any emulator you get, it's always best to get the experimental or dev version because it's the most up to date. stable versions are months if not years out of date.
>Summoner 2
Meanwhile the improved GC port is broken and unplayable in Dolphin, sad.
>AC Nexus
But it runs fine
It's Last Raven that's basically unplayable
>still no per-game settings through GUI
What is this, 1995?
Can someone explain to me why certain games need to be de-interlaced? Why not render all games progressive?
some ps2 games on the real hardware do not support 480p, only 480i.
KH2FM
But why does an emulated game have to run at 480i? Is it something deep inside PS2 architecture?
I think you're better off making a list of games that don't work
because the game is coded to run in interlaced mode, not progressive scan. you would have to hack the game to implement progressive scan and that could introduce more bugs.
Pretty much every good title works.
Both God of War games works great, just have to enable some small hardware hacks to fix some vertical lines in the first one, and some texture issues in the second.
Maximo 1 works great, 2 used to have a shadow issue but that is also fixed now (or fixed by that same GoW hardware hack)
Gauntlet Dark Legacy is great.
As far as I know they fixed the Jak games? The only issue that persists now is the eyes being messed up and I dont know if there is a hardware hack for that yet, there probably is, I havent checked in a long time.
The Sly Cooper games work really well.
SotC runs like shit and probably always will, I think thats coded in.
ATV Offroad Fury runs fine.
Both KH games are good.
That just seems weird that its a game to game basis. I wonder if a hack could be done in the future. PCSX2 can hack in widescreen and 1080 resolution.
I have a toaster that can't run much of anything but I was able to run LotR The Third Age pretty much flawlessly. Only a few graphical hiccups here and there that could probably be solved by someone that knows what they're doing when it comes to adjusting settings.
>emulating PS2
yes the ps2 is interlaced by default
Gradius V
Anyone modchip their PS2? How hard is it?
Valkyrie Profile 2
ps2 didn't have as much vram as dreamcast, so progressive scan was an expensive performance cost especially for early games when devs didn't fully understand how to optimize for the hardware. plus with interlaced on crts you could do some tricks to reduce aliasing and shimmering without using anti-aliasing. it made sense back in the day.
pcsx2 can hack in higher resolutions but you have to run with the hardware renderer which is far less emulation stability accurate than software mode.
Sony Santa Monica were such wizards back in the day they had the option to not only switch between 16:9 and 4:3 (not super rare) but also choose between interlaced and progressive scan in the options menu. On top of their games being probably the most impressive on the system. Interesting they had the option at all rather than just settling on one.
>modchipping when fmcb exists
you solder, how hard it is depends on how many wires you have to solder and your solder skills.
modchips are obsolete now that freemcboot and open ps2 loader are a thing.
This is one of the few games that PCSX2 can't run.
retards
some games wont work with OPL and you can't get proper PS1 support without a chip
works on my machine
you can boot swapmagic from freemcboot and play any burned ps2 game you want. the ps1 part is unfortunate though, but on flipside the ps1 emulator on ps2 is not great.
>ps1 emulator on ps2 is not great.
it's not emulation when you use burned disks
stop talking about shit you don't understand
huh?
it literally is emulation though
explain yourself you monkey
Ps1 is better on ps2 then on ps1.
Don't listen to oldfags. All the games worth playing have already been remade. PS2 games are extremely outdated in current year.
prove it (please)
FUTAE NO KIWAMI AAAAAAAAAAAAA
it depends on which console you have. fats have a ps1 chip inside, the slims use software emulation. hence why the slims have more trouble playing ps1 games.
>PS2 games are extremely outdated in current year.
Ace Combat 0: exists
Your argument: invalid
Shadow Tower: Abyss runs at 60 with no speedhacks or other dicking around besides you needing to find the English patched version and minimal graphical glitches. It also fucking rules.
Alright, if you want a (You) so badly here you go.
Some minor graphical glitches but it works.
ps2 architecture emulates ps1 hardware to run ps1 games, it doesn't actually have ps1 hardware built inside it
no
oro?
