FROM is the only japanese game company that hires foreigners for their skill, and does not treat them like slaves like Nintendo does.

They are the pinnacle because they are agnostic to culture, race, and other bullshit. They only care about talent.

I get what you are saying but I dont think thats how you use agnostic

Goes to shit the second there's more than one enemy.

To an extent. There is a great article about how when DMC5 was being made by Ninja Theory (being UK based) there were certain concepts which Japan had words for and English doesn't, which encapsulates ideas which they had to teach Ninja since they didnt understand how to do combat well. One of them, and you see it all the time in Japanese games and not in Western ones, is having attacks that start slow, build up, then suddenly strike, giving you that really meaty feedback which is satisfying to use.

Japan is a bit more sophisticated with combat than western developers in that regard. I cant think of many Western games which compete with the likes of MH/Souls/DD/Sekiro.

And the award to the most reddit post of all time goes to...

There is nothing wrong with making a game where its based around 1v1 like Sekiro was. Souls is quite clearly designed for 1vX combat in comparison.

Shame the setting is so overused.

True, except when the game constantly gives you more than one enemy to fight at a time. Should have gone the Prince of Persia Reboot route.

To be fair, it's pretty hard to top Souls combat.

>in Japanese games and not in Western ones, is having attacks that start slow, build up, then suddenly strike
It's called momentum and I'm pretty sure Ninja Theory would know what it means.

Nope, cbf finding the article but basically Capcom had to hold their hand on everything and told them to redo the combat

Well, whatever they did they did it well, help or not.
Of all the problems DmC had, combat was the least of them.

It was better than 5, at least.

UNGA BUNGA SPINNY SLASHY FLASHY PARTICLES EVERYWHERE GOOD

I'm convinced these threads are made by a false flagger trying to make Sekiro and it's fans look bad.

>not fighting against him and spearbro 2v1
pussy

i know 2d platformers with basic combat that is much more satisfying than dmc, ng and other "stylish" combay games, lol.

too bad you'll never play them because i'm not giving you their names! hahahahahahah.

Button mashing gets you killed in the later fights. Fuck off retards and actually play the game.

Fromtrannies do that by themselves.

thats dmc 5 for you

You don't mash, its just a game of Simon.

Not really. But any criticism is met with

Sekiro is still good even though it has its flaws

Any game like Mount and Blade or Mordhau shits on button-combat like Souls or Sekiro. Stop being niggers

>it has its flaws
Low tier b*it.

>You can't style on enemies in seki-
That webm is pure kino. Got any more cool ones like that?

>mordhau
>swing sword at person
>twist in opposite direction of the swing as hard as you can killing all momentum
>sword gently taps their temple because they cant block for more than .000001 seconds
>decapitated from a 1mph swing

Taм ecть бoльшe oднoгo вpaгa

You play the way the game wants you to play

Its a game of Simon

Can't help but notice that that miniboss that has two health bars and also comes with another miniboss that also has two health bars is being fought by itself while having one health bar.

What you're talking about is named "Merihari", it's based on their japanese theather Nô, and is the mentality of "scening an impact" or a combat move to give it soul/life.
It's a really neat concept, and can make or break fighting games.

How did you nightjar reversal into high monk?

Yes, Capcom is usually very good at this. Darkstalker really emphasize the concept (even overtly so, but it's still a great example material)
On the other hand, Dead Or Alive, as good as it can be, is absolute shit at this, and every punch/kick looks weak, or shouldn't do as much damage as the CONSTANTLY SHAKING SCREEN is trying to convey.

*mashes the parry button and easily wins every combat encounter*

>sekiro
>press block button
>blocks blade coming from any direction
Sorry but if your game doesn't have directional blocking and attacks, it's casual

how?

both of those games are overrated garbage

Sorry, but if you're not fighting with real swords, it's casual.

They're actually both underrated.

from the wiki:
>The counter window is massive, and spans the entire duration of the step dodge animation, well past its invulnerability frames; basically, if the attack lands during the step dodge animation, it will be successful.
hell you can easily do this yourself

You don't, pretty sure that guy just edited out the pause screens where he swaps combat arts.

Pretty sure he's on PC where there's a mod that lets u switch at will

Dragon Flash is a really cool skill for Isshin Ashina. It lets you interrupt some of his area / special attacks, notably One Mind, and deal some good damage. Its also free damage when you throw off Emma or Isshin misses one of his fire attacks. The foward range on the first slash is actually ridiculous

>tfw tried to practice charge partitioning today

how the fuck do u do it bros
