Oh you just saw ThatGamingBrit video too and based your entire opinion on that. Good for you.

No, the developers have stated that the dog ending is canon.

1, he doesn't adopt her
2, in water is the canon ending

There's no evidence that Water is canon.

Why did Laura even end up in Silent Hill if she's just a random normal little girl?

projection, you want James to feel bad and be punished. if he wanted to die, he would have let double pyramids or maria finish him off. James chooses to move on, Leave makes the most sense.

>game is filled to bursting with symbolism of water and reflections
>plot is about a man who did a bad thing and can't live with himself

>but the ultra generic ending is canon
Fuck off

In water ending is not punishment. James explicitly says "now we can be together" before killing himself. He does it to see Mary again, like it's foreshadowed in the game.

>not punishment
Of course it is. The only way he can "be together" is death. If he wanted to do that, he could have shot himself in the head while sitting in the chair in front of the tv. That was also foreshadowed, I can make shit up too.

that video popped up in my friends youtube recommended and he sent me a picture of it, then the next day it pops up in my recommended

IDGAF, I got tricked into the Water ending and it'll always be my True Ending.

This.Wtf.
Remember when James sees Laura on the wall and he asks, "What's a little girl like you doing here anyway?" Her response is so fucking weird to me.

"Huh? Are you blind or something?"

Wtf does that even mean? I think there might be some other strange interactions but i cant remember off the top of my head

Not actually a little girl

Doesn't sh 4 strongly imply that in water is the canon ending ?
It's been years since I played it but, isn't there a newspaper article in James's father's room about a son and his wife, disappearing and never being found ?

My theory is that Laura is part of SH and not an actual little girl.

go on...

he tells angela that he would never kill himself, mary writes that she was planning to adopt laura if she made it out of the hospital. Leave is the canon ending i dont give a shit what any slant eyed gook says even if it's their game.

I mean, reason why I believe so is that (according to my foggy memory and the fact that my last playthrough was more than 10 years ago) she seems to feed off shitty emotions from people stuck in SH, her interactions with James and Eddie were always dismissive, snarky, etc. I also recall her saying she didn't see/experience SH like Eddie, James and Angela did. She cannot possibly be the Limbo side of SH and the real world's SH at the same time.

***Be in the Limbo side of SH
Forgot to proofread, fuck.

>adopts the girl
The girl represents his innocence. What does it mean to adopt his innocence?

If he kills himself, then the whole game was pointless, it's just a game about a guy who gets eaten up by his mistakes and dies. Even SH1 is more uplifting than that.

>Stories have to be uplifting to be good

So you've never seen a movie that wasn't made by Disney huh

The girl represents moving on and building a life. Mary literally could not because she was dying, but James has a chance.

The best ending is Rebirth though, that slaps.

>game was intentionally never expanded upon so all endings could be equally valid
>Plot is rife with symbolism and built on personal interpretation and extrapolation
>Yas Forums genuinely arguing about who's interpretation is canon

>I can make shit up too.

NOOOO SOMEONE WITH THE SAME SUPERPOWER AS ME HOW COULD THIS BEEEEEEEEEEE!

We're just arguing for the sake of arguing, user.

Doesn't have to be uplifting, but it does have to have a point.

>The girl represents moving on and building a life.
Close, she's selfish and bratty throughout the game because that's how our innocence works. She's the part of his mind that is innocent to everything going on in Silent Hill. Him leaving with her means he's moving on, and building a new life, because he's keeping his innocence intact. He won't be a tormented slave to his past anymore.

SH1 has a canon ending, so the others could as well.

Not who you're responding to but I agree with him kinda.James learning the truth and being psychologically tortured just for him to kill himself in the end? that seems boring to be honest.

James going through hell and coming out the other side, stronger, evolved? that's the dope shit nukka

>She's the part of his mind that is innocent to everything going on in Silent Hill
Are you saying there isn't a literal little girl, then?

Well *I* got the canon ending of the game and it determines what ending you'll get based on your actions throughout the game so it's the canon ending for me.

Nothing we see in 2 is literal. It starts with James visiting Silent Hill based on a letter that doesn't necessarily even have anything written on it.

OP so BTFO he should legally never be allowed to post again.

>tfw you proofread your post and still missed something obvious

Oop, I meant got it as the canon ending.

Are the post-2 games worth playing? I only touched 1 and 2.

It's a point. Just because you don't agree with it isn't a point.

Watch David Lynch's movies, silent Hill 2 is heavily based on it and then come back my guy

3 was the series peak for horror, but an ok story.

4 could've been good but isn't.

Origins isnt worth existing.

Shattered Memories isn't bad, but not particularly innovative. A solid 6/10

Homecoming has surprisingly good gameplay for a silent Hill game but a plot that is literally an American remake of Silent Hill 2. Gutter trash.

Silent Hill Downpour is such a confusing hodgepodge of ideas (open world horror game is a garbage concept) but as a whole it's not bad, just mediocre

In short, only 3 is worth playing.

3 is great and absolutely worth playing. I never played 4, but I've heard it's pretty decent too.

From the wiki:
>In Silent Hill 3, which also has plenty of Silent Hill 2 references, Douglas Cartland mentions he was involved in a missing person's case in which a man went missing in Silent Hill and was never found, and it is possible that Douglas was referring to James though he disappeared along with his wife.
>Silent Hill 4: The Room revealed that James and Mary "disappeared in Silent Hill", meaning they have canonically disappeared.
>In Water is the first ending listed in the Book of Lost Memories.
>The novelization uses the In Water ending. However, it should be noted that it was written by Sadamu Yamashita, who apparently didn't work on the games and used the non-canon Good+ ending for the first game's novelization.[7]
>Masahiro Ito and Guy Cihi both choose "In Water" as their personal canon ending, though Ito also said "I think there are so many real ending for each user/player." >Also, Cihi admitted on his Facebook page that he prefers the "Leave" ending.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
>Masahiro Ito made Pyramid Head with In Water in mind.[15]
>The cover of the instruction manual and introduction video of Silent Hill 2 shows James carrying Mary's corpse, which only happens in the In Water ending.
>James tells Angela that he would "never" kill himself, however the veracity of this claim is questionable because at the time he was still dealing with the emotional shock of discovering his murder of Mary. If the statement is true, this naturally rules out the "In Water" ending as being canon.

Nah. SH2 is the only good game in this series. It's just poor man's Resident Evil afterwards.

3 is fine and more of the same, 4 is a literal 0/10 game.

it's definitely the coolest

Based cunnybro james

I found 3 to be kinda meh because of how lackluster combat and puzzles (save for the Shakespear one, being an ESL really fucked me over on that one), but it was hailed as the holy grail on this website since fucking forever. Also a sequel to the first game.

4 is really different from previous titles, lots of people consider it a "good game but a bad silent hill". It's very tedious to play and frustrating at times but it had IMO the best atmosphere of all SHs. Game's theme revolves heavily around "Your sanctuary isn't really a sanctuary" and it really fucking feels like nowhere is safe.

I always feel it's kinda disingenuous how many people go on about silent Hill as this legendary horror series when it's legacy is 1 really good game that has a different lore and tone than the rest of them and then a bunch of poor man's resident evil

3 and 4 are not as good but still worth playing

Laura doesn't see all the scary shit in silent hill because she's innocent and young, so she has no reason to be punished. There

>tfw Konami doesn't want modern audiences to play silent Hill

Just fucking put it on steam please

Attached: Ito.jpg (509x181, 42.49K)

SH2babbies pls leave

Then why is she in SH in the first place?

Dog ending is canon
James fucking the dog is canon
Aliens are canon
Your face is dumb

Because she was in the hospital with mary in silent hill

Only Silent Hill 1 is good.
Rest is rehashed bullshit.

>he tells angela that he would never kill himself
So?
You can still change your mind regarding things, suicide being one of them. He was still in denial too

UFO ending in SH3 is the best and happiest one, yet it's non-canon

I'd agree if his dead wife didn't literally tell him to forgive himself
But she did, and him making an effort to do so is by zero fathomable means wrong or unreasonable

it's not that specific m8
they just don't care. as long as their pachinko shit keeps printing money, suits don't care

And in other endings she tells him to go fuck himself.
Just because people tell someone they should forgive themselves, doesn't mean they'll do it

GB's video was good, but hard disagree on In Water. It's the most suitable ending easily.

There's a reason everyone just says to play SH2 user. It's the only one that has something unique to offer. If you've played Resident Evil, you've already played the other Silent Hill games.

I'm not saying he has to, nor am I saying he did
But discounting James going through emotional hell before finally being told to forgive himself by the person most deserving of saying so (more even than himself) as simply 'ultra generic' is disingenuous
I prefer Leave but I don't think one ending is more canon than the other

What are you on about. Silent Hill is much more original and has a better atmosphere. SH2 is just gritty and disgusting

>moving goalposts
>randomly pulling shit out of nowhere
Looks like you're the one who needs to fuck off buddy
