OP is a faggot
Get filtered faggot.
oh no did i shit on your nostalgia? your first FPS zoomie?
Even it's creator hates it
B-B-BUT THE GRAPHICS!!! AND IT'S JUST LIKE MUH HALF-LIFE GAMES!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY FIRST CINEMATIC VIDEO GAME, MY FLASHLIGHT AND LIMITED OXYGEN
THE REALISM
Better than Doom Eternal.
Romero wasn't involved in Doom 3's development though.
Is there a name for that early 2000's aesthetic where everyone looks like they're made out of bumpy rubber?
PS3
Doom 3 is what you get when you have a soulless monkey like Carmack at the helm.
All technology, 0 design or fun gameplay.
This, went back and played it after beating eternal on nightmare and it's a much better game.
>buzzwords
You only shat on yourself, OP.
OH NO NO NO NO NO
someone approved this
Doom 3 designs are shit but modded it's pretty damn fun game.
There's also some very solid level/campaign mods for it, best one being this:

Either you are trolling or completely fucking retarded because I did the same and although I was let down by Eternal, 3 is complete dogshit.
ok zoomer
>Main game
>Hey imp spawning ahead or behind you or in a corner for like 10 levels
>Hey no real enemy variety until the end of the game
>Hey slow as fuck and no SSG
>First DLC
>Gives you SSG and throws real enemies at you
>Still follows the same formula of spend big ammo on big boys and SSG the rest of the game
>Lost missions
>More of the same DLC.
I sorta think the DLCs are okay but the main game is pretty bad. I feel like the atmosphere was good it actually created a sense of not wanting to die because hell actually was in your face with how hard it was gonna torture you. But otherwise nah 6/10 main game and DLCs maybe 7.5
>let down by eternal
keep talking but you already outed yourself as much of a retard as that guy
>checks Yas Forums
>daily doom 3 contrarian thread
ahh, here it is, like clockwork
not a single OG Doom 2 player hated Eternal, it's all Doom 3 zoomers shitting on it, really makes you think doesn't it?
Too be fair filtered niggers are just as bad and ruin every thread. Eternal has things to criticize and has a set pace that alienates some play styles if you talk about this niggers scream this shit at you even if you've beaten it on nightmare. Its a game getting a free pass for being hard.
It’s pretty shit, but give RoE a try anyway as it has the Super Shotgun that fixes the shotgun and makes the game ”faster” by slowing the enemies with the artifact.
I said I was let down by it, not that it was bad.
Doom 3 players aren't zoomers, game fucking came out in 2004
That's not unfeasible for early gen z, especially as their first game.
decent bait. here's a (You)
Best game in the series
>boomer father loves doom 2
>doom 3 comes out, installs it on family computer
>little zoomer comes and plays the game
>grows up to be underage retard defending doom 3 on mongolian carpenter boards
it's a good game, but not a good doom game.
Soul.
Yes it is. Doom was never chainsaw flips at 500mph. I also like the new games but they're as old Doom as Doom 3 was.
There hasn't been a good official Doom game since Doom 2 by that standard. 2016/Eternal share more in common with Quake and Painkiller than they do Doom
k Boom-Boom
NOOOOO IT WAS MY FIRST DOOM GAME YOU CAN'T SAY THAT!!!!
If you want to get technical, it was specular highlighting.
The designs were best in series bar some from the originals. The hell especially stands out as just something else. The whole segments in the alien ruins/hell in 3 and the DLC were unnerving, felt like something deeply sinister.
fuck off
original Doom would have been the same had they had the tech to do it, look at Quake.
>boom eternal
>would have
who cares what would have been. in some other reality you would've been successful, but here we are.
Yes, the fire rises.
It was orbitting projectile spammers at 500 mph.
I think what Doom 3 got very right was level design and atmosphere. You were on a science facility on Mars, and the levels actually looked like a science facility on Mars, complete with buzzing, whirring, moving machinery that oftentimes had some explicitly stated purpose in the the facility, like creating oxygen and hydrogen from iron oxide.
absolutely this. i recently replayed 3 again, and with headphones it's a very enjoyable experience
I liked it at the time and even finished at max difficulty.
Now I can't stand it.
Quake 4 was already much better.
Doom 3 atmosphere and demon design with speed and pace of Doom 2016/Eternal is the perfect game, you literally cannot refute this
the game is a one trick pony - real time shadows.
everything else was sacrificed for this effect.
The levels are cramped and little more than corridors. The game is completely linear and dull by today's standards.
It's okay.
A good FPS game but a bad DOOM game :)
yes amazing design
It's been a long ass time since I played Doom 3, so which is the best version?
OG Doom 3 or BFG Edition?
Doom 3 is an absolutely great atmospheric experience
Just a shitty Doom game
That's what happens when a literal autistic psychopath like Carmack (he was officially diagnosed as a psychopath) whose only ability is being a code-monkey leads development of a game.
All the post-Romero, Carmack-era id Software games are definition of souless and prioritizing technology over everything else.
Why is there crane puzzles in a doom game
>People too dumb to realize that the flashlight was made that way on purpose
>Doom 3
MUH SHADOWS MUST HAVE SHADOWS REALISTIC LIGHTING SHADOWS GUYS
>Rage
>MEGATEXTURES GUYS MUST HAVE RENDING MEGATEXTURES
>everything feels like shit: the game
amazing that id can make this hunk of shit and then go on to make Eternal
The beginning was too damn slow and there was a lack of emergent game play despite heavy hints of it early on. The original PC release with its full dynamic lighting was great from a tech perspective. Too much of the middle portion of the campaign is rocket exchanges in the dark. Soul Cube suck lift out of the last leg.
The monster closets being a telegraphed from 3 miles out the the tentacle assholes all over leave this an unsalvagable mess. Let it die.
It was a good move at the time because real time shadows were totally new and hardware intensive. They did the best they could to make a playable game with the tech.
You can still find Quake's fingerprints inside game engines today. Don't you dare shit on the dude who built the technology of the entire industry.
based
Technology doesn't mean shit if you can't make a game with it, Carmack clearly couldn't make a single good game on his own with his tech autism.
Slight rework on some designs, sure
Nobody makes a game alone. Imagine shitting on someone for only being a tech god and not also being able to design levels, gameplay, art and audio.
What the fuck have you done with your life? You must be a fucking woman because things are never good enough for you.
yeah... i still love it though
>tech god
His only claim to fame, "Carmack's Reverse", was discovered, patented and copyrighted a full decade before he stumbled upon it. Furthermore the original dudes that discovered it sued him for it, he settled behind the scenes and was forced to remove it from all the id Software games, forcing them to use the much less optimized regular method of doing shadows and raping framerate in the process.
Learn history, faggot.
>His only claim to fame, "Carmack's Reverse"
Sure, oh wait, no it's not you disengenuous fuck.
The original was a perfect balance between indulgent action and atmospheric tension.
Doom 3 took the atmospheric horror elements and ran off with them.
Doom 2016 took the action and reduced the game to literally nothing but that.
Neither are true DOOM games.
>zoomers flocking to doom 3 all of a sudden
Fuck off, all your opinions are trash by default
>The issue with Carmack’s Reverse is the fact it was a joint development and the patent relating to it is owned by Creative Labs
geek.com
Yeah because of fucking creative labs. Litigious bastards they are. There is no way they'd pass up an oportunity to make money. All because Carmack was doing what he did - innovating and releasing the code as open source.
