I suppose a Switch has games simple enough like Mario Party or 1-2 Switch that the whole family can play together. Hell, Ring Fit Adventure can be used by some people as a gym substitute. I have a Switch and I get where you're coming from, even if this is just a shitposting exaggeration, but I think even normalfags know to buy a Nintendo thing to play Nintendo games, not to play Call of Duty, or M-Rated TPS. The problem is when functioning, cognizant adults who are familiar with other gaming platforms still buy ports for the Switch. Like fucking Valkyria Chronicles, what a fucking mistake I made buying that on Switch instead of on PS4. The game runs worse than on PS3, these ports are literally shat out into the system.

Animal Crossing is a system selling. It sells faster than any other of Nintendo's IPs as Mario and Zelda are generally slow burners that sell consistant numbers for the whole console lifespan.

Need some advice bros. I haven't bought a current gen console. Really want to play doom eternal though but have no gaming pc. Should I spend $200 for the xbone s, or get a lite. I'm 31 so would prefer to play on a tv, but with the lite I can play with my niece/nephews/cousins and pick up the series x this fall (if corona doesn't delay it).

You say that as if its a bad thing. All consoles have ports. The PS4 had a lot of ports. A lot of games are multiplatform. They key difference is your getting ports you can play in handheld mode. That adds value even if those ports are technically inferior.

The PS4 has a few decent exclusives too. Exclusives are important to give a console identity. Sure some of those Nintendo games are a little rehashed but most of them aren't anywhere near as sloppy as Microsoft's exclusives. They dropped the ball way harder.
Even PSVR games struggle to stay exclusive to the device.

The marketing has helped the Switch. It is pretty top notch, but the Switch itself is decent enough. And sometimes that is all you need for a successful product. Decent enough with a unique feature.
