I'm bored as fuck in quarantine, what are some good JRPGs that'll suck me in for hours on end? Pic related is my favorite vidya, alongside Nier Automata.

Suikoden III

Any Rune Factory

Suikoden 3 was fucking great. Gonna look into Rune Factory, thanks user.

Based taste. Also: Reminder that the nier 10th anniversary livestream will start in 10 hours

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully a remaster of Gestalt/Replicant pops up, though i doubt it.

If Xenogears is your idea of a good JRPG then I don't know what to tell ya kid. Try Breath of Fire II on the SNES for dialogue that's even more garbled and a story that makes even less sense than this overrated snoozefest. It even has an obnoxious high encounter rate just to make absolutely sure you won't be enjoying yourself. Right up your alley, I'm sure.

Already played it m8

Breath of Fire III is a classic.

Top tier comfy right there.

Replaying Xenogears right now. Honestly, I hoped it's nostalgia and I'd get bored after a few hours (I try to play games I haven't yet, instead of replaying old ones), but nope, it's still as fucking good as it was when I last played it, that is around 12 years ago.

If you say something like that, I bet you're going to list games with better stories and better written dialogues to help us improve our shit tastes.
In the meantime, while you're making the list, I'll look for a link to Xenogears Perfect Works for you - it's a book that explains the game's story. It's great for those, who couldn't understand it.

Front Mission 3

If you're talking about "comfy" games, that "suck you in", aside from the most popular ones, like FFs or DQs, I'd recommend:
Grandia II
Tales of Phantasia - PSX version
Lufia 2
Lunar
Phantasy Star IV

That would be great. I wonder if there's even hope.

Never heard of this, looks pretty neat. Thanks user, gonna play it tonight.

How much do you make a year? If its less than like 30k-35k, you have no business doing anything other than working on yourself.

Just note that the first decision the game gives you determines what route you take. Its really inconspicuous and doesnt signify to you at all that the decision decides the route you take. Just saying, if you decide to go with him you will get the easier route which is recommended for first playthrough

Oops, I meant Suikoden II

Skies of Arcadia is pretty fuckin good. It doesn’t have the most unique or crazy deep story like Xenogears but it’s one of the best shounen adventures you’ll find. The sense of adventure is unrivaled, it kinda reminds me of One Piece in that sense. It’s also got lots of really cool side content, like discovering uncharted islands and hunting down wanted men. The story also knows exactly what it wants to do at all times, and has a nice mix of just fun character moments and surprisingly dark moments. Everything feels really perfectly paced, the game always has a perfect tone, and you’ll love every single character by the end of the game. It’s on dreamcast and gamecube, GC version has way more content but the music got kinda screwed. I’m sure you can find a patch online to add the DC music into the GC version of the game.

STRANGE JOURNEY REDUX

I've been replaying the .hack franchise.

The only thing stopping Xenogears from being a 10/10 game is how slow the text advances. It's irritating as fuck for anyone above a fourth grade reading level.

Attached: xenogears.jpg (1024x768, 182.08K)

Also the main character (& the main cast in general, desu) is based as fuck. If you like Simon from Gurren Lagann, then you’ll love Vyse.

I'm playiing Tales of Vesperia right now on Switch

I'm enjoying it

Yeah... and the fact that the game is blatantly unfinished to the point it becomes a VN, but let's forget about that.

No I didn't Suikoden II is just okay. He wants grindy weebshit. You Can't break III for that.

I fucking wish i could play this again for the first time. I've played the DC version though. What's new on Gamecube?

Same composer as Xenogears

Attached: unnamed.png (512x250, 205.4K)

More JRPG+Turn-Based Strategy, but if you can get your hands on this, fucking do it
It would be a classic here if Sony publishing pulled their heads out of their asses early PS1 launch.

Attached: s-l400.jpg (391x400, 33.05K)

Suikoden 3 was great until the Flame Champion choice shit. It completely fucks over the character you choose, he/she becomes a blank slate. Ruined the game for me.

If you haven't played it yet, you can put a lot of hours into this one.
>roguelike
>monster fusion system
>city building
>dating sim

So lads, Breath of Fire 3 for PSX or PSP?

PSX emulated on Wii

>Krelian wasn't voiced by Ikeda
So many missed opportunities

PSP
so you can play the fishing game right from the menu, instead of making an extra savestate

Speaking of Suikoden, are there any other games that do character recruitment as well as these games. I've only played Suikoden II so far but I loved how it made me feel like I was slowly building up an army in my castle over the course of the game.
The only other games that come to mind are Skies of Acadia and Infinite Space on the DS, and I guess Mass Effect 2 to a lesser extent.

I have started playing Final Fantasy games for the first time and I find them very enjoyable. Still, I can imagine that you must have played them before. Currently on FF IX and loving it.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Metal Max Returns
Grandia
Lunar SSSC

I started playing Front Mission 3 not too long ago, digging it so far.

Attached: 1584244794203.gif (1920x1440, 2.31M)

Coz you played it when you were 9 and you haven't played it since. Stop recommending garbage you haven't played since 1945.
Good game but they ruined the translation. The team literally said they threw the script out and made shit up.
>I’m sure you can find a patch online to add the DC music into the GC version of the game.
You can't.

Give me a vidya to make me feel bad as much as NieR - already played DQ8 so that doesn't count.

Rean's early games are solid. Trails in the Sky is comfy as fuck.

ys 8 maybe?

>Xenogears
>Skies of Arcadia
>Front Mission 3
>Suikoden 2
>Suikoden 3
>Lufia 2
>Grandia 2
>Phantasy Star 4

what the actual fuck? when did Yas Forums suddenly develop good taste and actually recommend good games in a thread?

Attached: 4chan_1c175d_1609526.jpg (600x750, 65.98K)

Lol imagine giving a fuck about this when the dollar is actively getting printed into nothing

Suikoden 1 & 2.

Legend of Dragoon
Lunar SSSC
Breath of Fire IV
Wild Arms

which one and why?

All of them, fuck you user i ain't playing this game

I've been hearing about how good this is for 20 years and finally gave it a go a month ago. I'm interested in some of the story concepts that I know pop up later (the fact that God is a machine that you fight was spoiled for me ages ago), but man, the game just felt like more of an interactive book and I haven't played since Fei agreed to join a Gear battle in prison since it got pretty boring.

which one do i play right now

Based.
not even worth mentioning good games for xenolets. By experience I know you can't grasp what is a interesting game so even less what is Art. Keep your mind busy with what you got man, maybe try some undertale so you don't challenge your brain that much.

Play Breath of Fire IV first,
I bought it and I wanna know if it's good or not.

Did they fuck or nah?

This is a pretty god tier thread so far

Fei 100%, canonically got laid

BoF IV is a masterpiece of pixel art. Not only it has an actually interesting story involving gods and mythos (Not like the evaxploitation that is Xenogear), the playstile is damn great! You can combo your magic/skills, change party members during battle.

Give me some JRPGs with fun action or turn-based combat. I’m always up for something new and discovering some new faves.
Also, I recommend stuff like DQ5, FF9, Lost Odyssey, and TWEWY if you don’t mind trying something new.

How does Breath of Fire III compare if I may ask?

I wish Sega would rerelease Arcadia

Radiant Historia and Baten Kaitos Origins are always the first that come to mind when I see that question. Fantastic games, check em out.

If I remember correctly they fucked long and hard but she couldn't get pregnant so they created Emerald in replacement for their kids.

What the fuck is wrong with zoomers? saw a twitter thread yesterday where a guy said that Joker and Shulk are the best jrpg protags. shulk isn't even the best xeno protag

I just want to play Phantasy Star Online again anons

Tempted to get my Dreamcast out and play solo like a fag

I am playing it right now, for the first time. The gameplay is generic, the dragon gene system is not that great as everybody says, the story so far is quite mediocre (I am on angel tower 2nd) and for the love of God, having almost all the bosses (and a lot of random mobs) with confusion is a pain in the ass, totally a cheap way to balance the game. Since the chronology of the world of BOF is supposed to be 4>1>2>3, I would recommend you skip the first trilogy. 4 Is trully great and a cornerstone for RPG's on PSX era.

Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10, 13-LR, Type 0
Persona 3:FES, 4, 5
Super Mario RPG
Paper Mario 64
Nier Gestalt

>shulk isn't even the best xeno protag
Yeah, he's carried by his dub.
Hell, until Rex came around, I'd go so far as to say he's the WORST Xeno protag. Pretty much every party member in Saga has more depth than him.

Attached: Ziggy1.png (408x1200, 513.55K)

Isn’t Joker literally a self-insert?

Lost Odyssey

FFX

>Kim/Fei finishes fucking Elly
>Leaves her passed out in bed
>First thing he says afterwards is "it's no use!"
Alpha as fuck.

Attached: xeno.jpg (640x480, 35.53K)

I totally forgot to include Radiant Historia in my post. Overall fantastic game and the battle system is a large part of why it’s great. I’ll also be sure to check out Baten Kaitos as well.

Attached: C’MON AND SLAM.png (640x607, 100.01K)

Chrono Cross
Front Mission 3 (2 full campaigns that are each like 40 hours)
Radiata Stories
Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 (Just have a guide open for VP1, you'll never get the best ending without it, and the other ending is a whatever dungeon followed by a non-ending, so do yourself a favor and have a guide open. Also play on hard, it's not much harder but has bonuses)
Tactics Ogre
Legend of Mana
Dark Cloud 1 and 2 (you can safely skip 1 if you feel like it)
Lunar Silver Star Story and the Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (both for PS1)
Wild Arms (1-3 and then stop)
Tales of Symphonia

>Ellie's gear that she uses for the vast majority of the story is called "Vierge"
>Vierge is french for "Virgin"
>After that scene, she never uses it again but instead starts using her omnigear

It's pottery

Nocturne, get the Hardtype patch for extra fun.

Huh, never noticed that. That does confirm she's pure, right?

is smt4 good? heard ppl talk shit about the map

It's pretty good. Oldschool SMT fans will tell you it's shit, but its a pretty good game. It's just probably the easiest SMT, especially after you get past the second major boss.
