ARMS released three years ago. It could not be selling at all by this point and be fine. A two free week demo means they think it can sell again, instead of just going freemium and bilking the current players out of as much money as possible.

It's either going to be Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Dr. Coyle or Max Brass. Those four are the "main" characters of the game, even with Coyle and Brass only being playable after release. If they don't want to do Spring Man for whatever reason, it'll probably be Ribbon Girl. As long as Coyle's music gets in, it'll be great.
