Fuck you Zoomer

Jfc. Developers hiring people that thought like you is why the FF series went to shit in the HD era. Go play FF13 or a hack-and-slash if all you like is endless combat sections.

Imagine having a wrong opinion.

leave

>explore, interact with NPCs, fulfill quests, find equipment
It's all so tiresome, Yas Forums.

That's the best fucking part

>t. my first RPG was FF13

Fuck off, FFXIII fag

how do you fuckers fall for bait this obvious? is this some sort of elaborate joke that you're all in on that I'm not privy to?

You should play ff9, op. It has like 7 towns in total and by the end, there are maybe three and a half.

>*vomit*
Actually made me laugh out loud, good stuff OP

You tried, but failed miserably.

No upvotes and no gold for you.

XIIIitus is no joke, user

Seek help

If you loathe exploring a whole town, just don’t do it. Don’t be an attention whore completionist if it doesn’t suit you, play like the games were designed and like you used to, just do what you want and get over what you don’t. Who are, Judge Holden?

Wow, I hope you never play a Dragon Quest game.

You'll have an aneurysm.

>Industrial district served no purpose
>Gets wiped out of existence
Based.

You overdid it my good user but I agree a town too big and/or boring/soulless can clearly ruin the flow of a game.

But then he’ll complain he doesn’t know where to go or that he has to keep buying items instead of finding them around the world naturally. I know OP is baiting but the retarded arguments in his post are about on par with the stupid reasons people say they hate turn based combat

Well in FF6 Ruin World some npc´s give youn hints of some hidden enemies or places were treasures are.

Yep. At least there are spoiler free skippable item guides for these artists

>Industrial district served no purpose
>Gets wiped out of existence
Based and coronapilled

God damn I really need to play Final Fantasy 3 again.

>3

i agree with you op, but only because i don't care about story, and my retard brain requires me to check everywhere for useless items i'll never use

That journalist who couldn’t figure out how to beat the boss in the FF7R and claimed the game doesn’t give you any hints even though Cloud and Barrett are constantly saying how to beat it pissed me right the fuck off. Journalists are the scum of the earth

Right. Making something good out of this idiocy. What's your absolute favorite town in vidya, Yas Forums? It doesn't have to be specifically RPGs. Bonus point if it has good music.
For me, both the atmosphere and music around Domina in Legend of Mana will always hold a special place

Why are you playing a JRPG in first place?
Fucking zoomers

-there are only so many quests you can offer in a one town
-towns have different themes, you can't make an all-in-one
-it becomes a hub and limits exploration and story

By the way, if you are interested in this single town thing, play Icewind Dale 1&2. There is the starting town in both games and Lonelywood in 1, but mostly you hang around in Kuldahar.

you are pure trash

Considering you're using Final Fantasy as your baseline, no wonder you hate towns. They're one of the worst RPG series when it comes to building towns since there's nothing to interact with or find. Compare this to something like Dragon Quest or Suikoden where you can spend hours exploring a town, find dozens of items, break every barrel/pot, raid ever cupboard/drawer, go down wells, every NPC has something relevant to tell you, multiple side quests, an active market where your trading changes the world economy, good music and so on.

They should just make an RPG that's just one long corridor filled with random encounters.

>makes the game even more childish than necessary.
this wouldnt bother you if you werent actually a sensitive, retarded brat

Isn't that darkest dungeon

I was thinking of Final Fantasy 13.

They've done quite a few of them. What's sad is, the better graphics get and the higher budgets get, the more linear RPGs become.

FF isn't turn based retard. Only 10 is.

All the good FF games were turn based

Harbor town in Risen 1. It is just extremely comfy and memorable. Especially at sunrise it is unbelievably atmospheric.

Ladies and gentlemen, Zoomers.

Atelier Ryza does it right, only has one town

Why even a corridor?
Let's make a game where you don't move your character at all like that
>fight, fight, fight, story event, fight, fight, fight, boss
>repeat
>entire game is nothing but fights
This is the next logical step.

Having characters move one at a time is turn-based regardless of whether they have to wait for some gay bar to fill up in real time before they act

ATB is still turn based, the turns are just calculated on a timer

If an enemy can attack two "turns" in a row it is not fucking turn based retard.

Turn-based is something like HOMM3 where you can by definition not do 2 turns in a row. It's called "turn" for a fucking reason.

I’m not having this autistic argument with you

The joke is FF13 is exactly that

I'm currently on my first playthrough and it's fun. I'm not even a big FF fan.

>If an enemy can attack two "turns" in a row it is not fucking turn based retard.
Bravely Default: "Am I a joke to you?"

> like HOMM3 where you can by definition not do 2 turns in a row.
you can with a positive morale bonus

Because productions costs get higher so making shit like that takes effort.
And the ones who can afford such big budgets are humongous fags like SE who try to pander to everyone.
People like to suck P5's dick because of the palaces but honestly, I fail to see why stuff like that wasn't made the gen before and we got stuck with two extremes. High budget titles like FFXIII or some niche pantsu quest games

>Turn-based is something like HOMM3 where you can by definition not do 2 turns in a row.

>play RPG
>it has RPG stuff
noooo stop that I want to go back to pressing A to win random encounters

what about every game before 4???

>Considering you're using Final Fantasy as your baseline, no wonder you hate towns. They're one of the worst RPG series when it comes to building towns since there's nothing to interact with or find
So you've never played an FF? There's stuff hidden in towns, stuff to interact with, story points, dialogues, shops, hidden locations, and sometimes even puzzles among other aspects that have existed in multiple FF towns. Hell some FFs even have side content and side quests in towns or entire entertainment districts as their core or attached to them with minigames, gambling, prizes all sorts of distracting fun to be had. It just varies from town to town and FF to FF.

There's good to great to amazing examples of better towns in other RPGs out there, but don't lie about what's in an FF town.

Enjoy. 6 has the best villain of all ff games. He's not pretentious. He's not deep or mysterious. He's simply a crazy fucking clown because fuck you. Which version do you plan to play? Steam version is ugly as fuck. GBA has bestiary and new content so probably that?

Source please

Risen 1 was the only one out of the Risen series that recaptured what I loved about Gothic II and its expansion.

>i hate aspects of a genre and want them changed/deleted for me until they no longer resemble the same genre even though those aspects and genre appeal to people
Why don't you just play games you enjoy in the first place? I never understand people going into a game/genre and complaining, basically, that it's not an entirely different game/genre.

>Steam version
I will never not be mad. Fuck Square for ruining all these classics with their soulless “remasters”

SNES version on my Retropie. It's pretty good.

Because most towns are boring. If you know 1 town you know almost all JRPG town.

>rich town
>poor town
>port town
>mountain town
>forest town
Why not something creative? a town inhabited by fucking skeletons or something? I have nothing against an interesting town. Most of them are simply shit.

So a VN game then

The defining aspect of a turn-based system is that it's split up into discrete time units: turns.
In an ATB game, time still progresses during your turn and enemies can still hit you during your turn, thus undermining the defining aspect of a turn-based system. ATB is not turn-based.

>b-b-but wait mode
wait mode is nothing more than a clumsy bandaid to a crappy system. You still have to tediously 'retreat' into the magic/item menu every single turn, otherwise you still get hit on your turn.

That's existed in a game. Ghost towns, dark towns, demon towns, etc. It's all been done before. You may as well be upset towns in real life are only made in environments humans can survive in.

Name me 1 game with a ghost town

That has more to do with towns in jrpgs (and exploration in jrpgs is general) being boring. and uninteractive. There's little to do besides buying the next set of linear upgrads.
