Can we have a thread on why you think some people out there enjoy, or at least pretend to enjoy, Sekiro? We all understand that it is an awful game because it was explicitly designed to be awful. Why do people put up with a game that does not want the player to have fun?

This thread is not here to list and bash the numerous faults and failures of Sekiro, but simply to try and get an understanding of the idiots that play and defend it.

No need to take offence. Your allowed to like your bad game. Im just trying to understand why you would.

>This game is bad but I won't say why
At least but a bit of effort into it.

Bad enemy design, side bosses are harder than the intended hardest bosses in the game, buggy and unfinished enemies, buggy and unfinished areas, poorly thought out sub weapon system, selling you tools you should have by default in your base kit, obtuse boss/level design. I could go on, but it's a lesser version of Bloodborne and darksouls in every way.

Just like to remind everyone that the point of this thread...

>This thread is not here to list and bash the numerous faults and failures of Sekiro, but simply to try and get an understanding of the idiots that play and defend it.

How are we still having threads like this, are people actually picking it up and being filtered?

No one cares to address the point of this thread as your premise behind it is misinformed at best, retarded at worst.

So you have a reason why you like sekiro? Would you like to post it? Or will you continue to focus on any other topic in the world to avoid being forced to reflect on how you spent your own time.

But you are wrong. It's not a buttonmashy a gorrillion combo animu fest, or a roll-a-thon of endless leveling up. It's an adrenaline fueled sword fight "sim".

I like the game for tight controls, no overobtuse armor/weapon/fashion clutter, great traversal, tight as fuck bosses (mostly), and the final duel.

Also, what boss filtered you and let us help.

People had fun playing it you fucking retard.
WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE ROCK PAPER SCISSORS? WHY? IT'S BAD! I'M NOT BASHING IT BUT WHY TO PEOPLE LIKE IT EVEN THOUGH IT SUCKS?

Just because you don't understand the game doesn't mean it's bad, it simply means you do not like it. I hear a new DOOM game came out, maybe you should play that instead.

>what boss filtered you
The moveset.

Aint it weird that you have a larger moveset in Dark Souls 1 with the Katana then you do in a game where the only weapon is a Katana?

it's fun when you don't suck lol

wow nioh asslords are really triggered these days

Oh boy, I friggin hate niggers

You have chosen deflection, again.

>Bad enemy design
expand on this

>side bosses are harder than the intended hardest bosses in the game
>intended hardest bosses
tell me user, which are the intended hardest bosses?
Isshin was, in my first run, the hardest enemy, and there were no side bosses that I found more difficult than him.
I can agree that some bosses are underwhelming once you learn their moveset (butterfly, gyobu, genichiro), but the same applies to side bosses.

>buggy and unfinished enemies, buggy and unfinished areas
expand on this

>poorly thought out sub weapon system
this was true at first, but they patched the emblem cost, so the tools are actually usable and come in handy

>selling you tools you should have by default in your base kit
expand on this

>obtuse boss/level design
applies to every ds game

move set? dark souls bosses are braindead roll roll roll hit roll hit doesn't matter what weapon or attack your using

>Die a hundred times to Father
>Call it a night
>Newt morning, first try of the day
>Kill him instantly with almost no damage done
sometimes I just don't understand.
Kino fight too

Like I said, you dont have a luxury of 10000 moves per every buttonmashing combo. But to say there are to movement variation in sekiro Is wrong. It Is just sometimes tied to overall progression. Like chasing slice, ichimonji, grapple slice, mikiri counter, ashina cross etc + prosthetic arts. Add default goomba stomp, slice and thrust while on the go. You have enough freedom in combat, but overall your enemies and bosses are so relentless, that if you cant Master bread and butter - simple perfect parry and attack when possible (including use of said additional moves and tools), you cant get by on mashing everything, like say in dmc. I adored such no bullshit style, if it Is not your cup of tea - ok, but your opinion Is entirely subjective. Just like mine.

Go and play Nioh 2 you insufferable cunt

What a shit thread.
OP just got filtered by some early game boss and is venting his anger here
GTFO faggot

>Stuck at fountainhead palace
>Killed the shaolin soccer : electric boogaloo
>talked to the grandma telling me the entrance is in the underwater snake crib
>Didnt see shit down there, killed by underwater snake
what do now?

it was ok

it either needed to be trimmed down to a furi-style boss rush or had way more time spent developing the exploration/traversal/stealth mechanics.

>NOOOOOOO ONLY THE GAMES I LIKE ARE ALLOWED TO BE GOOD IF PEOPLE LIKE GAMES THAT I DON'T LIKE THAT MEANS THEY ARE SUBHUMANS WITH NO TASTE
Fucking kill yourself you waste of space

This. Dad filtered me for a good whole day. Next day, got tipsy with fiance and forced her to watch me try ans beat this gigganigga, and did it in two goes.

Isshin was down much faster, in about 15 tries. Truth be told, I maxed out vitality till the end game. And for some reason liked the last fight better. Felt more kino for me

>OP can't manage what is essentially a Simon Says Rhythm game.

youtube.com/watch?v=kkq-ilDV888

>snake

Oh god I didn't realize my enjoyment was fake.

nigga I aint there yet but I can't wait, this game is very good

>We all understand that it is an awful game because it was explicitly designed to be awful. Why do people put up with a game that does not want the player to have fun?

Mmmm yeah those 75k reviews with the rating of extremely positive must mean that the game is actually awful right?

Enter the cave once again, You can stick to the right side all the time, through sunken buildings. Dash last stretch through a building with one window in the middle.

I found it boring as fuck.
On Souls games and Nioh you had to either learn the bosses skill sets or react really fast
On Sekiro all you do is jump on sweep, Mikiri on thrust, block/parry everything else. It doesnt matter if the opponent is using a spear, sword, greatsword or is a fucking monkey, all attacks are exactly the same.
I almost had fun with prosthetics, but then I ran out of emblems.

>Giant animal killing you instantly on sight
yeah it's a snake with a funny shape.

>not understanding clashing of swords

do you even salil al sawarim?

Where are you right now?

>real talk guys..
how do i criticize really hard games? Sometimes I write paragraphs about why a hard game is wholly unfair and poorly designed, and some douchebag just comes along and tells me to git gud and it really pisses me off. It pisses me the fuck off.

And all attacks in souls are exactly the same because all you do is dodge or use the roll button, your point is?

fuck me if I know. Just defeated the guy and now I think I'm supposed to go to fountainhead palace or farm some more prayer beads somewhere.
To be honest, as soon as I beat Genichiro at the top of that castle, I had absolutely no idea where I sould go

I meant block, not dodge

>got the shit ending
fuck. cant bother to play again..

Based

Matthewmatosis says Sekiro is bad, and it's easy.
I agree.

No he didn't, and no it isn't.

Why do so many people go for that ending?
Is it because they are just spamming buttons to remove the dialogue?
Are you a twitch streamer?

Last fight Is kino embodiement. The area, the difficulty, the insane relentless pace. The satisfaction Is miles above every action game I played in recent years.
But the boss can filter you for fucking days on end. Some guy here told that he was fighting him for month or so.
But if you got dad (not cheesed), you're gonna be alright in the end.
Also, there Is an optional end game boss in there, and you can cheese him and not feel too bad about it. Fuck that guy, this one boss literally Is poorly designed for a game such as this, kinda with fag OP on this one. But I doubt that OP will ever reach him.

I feel opposite. on Bloodborne you just dodge and attack. On Souls you dodge, block or attack. Even taking positioning into account those games also have an RNG element to them because you can't predict what abilities will be used and sometimes you're screwed if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In Sekiro you always have a coutner to an ability available, you just have to be quick enough to react. The addition of a seperate HP bar in the form of posture also makes things way more itneresting.

It's real good, the combat is much deeper and more satisfying than any of the Souls games. Better bosses overall than the Souls games, but folding monkies could have been a better gimmick boss.

How are there people getting filtered by this game when I beat it and I suck at games? I beat it charmless no bell ng+ too. I suck at everything. Yas Forums tells me I suck, /sci/ tells me I'm stupid and useless, all my achievements are mediocre and overshadowed by my friends' achievements, nothing I do will ever amount to anything, I'll always be stuck in a brain dead minimum wage job, yet I can beat sekiro and you can't.

Same difference.

>ould have been a better gimmick boss
Still one of the best gimmicks from has done, except for shield knight in Des and a couple of others.

At what point did you dropped it?

You mean Demon of Hatred? I feel that boss is meant to catch you off-guard as it seems more like a Bloodborne boss at first, but it ends up just as a long battle of attrition against a very predictable moveset.

Also he can be cheesed to death with Malcontent whistle and the fire upgraded Parasol.

Sekiro is the magnum opus of parry-based sword fighting in video games. It aint the first to do it, but its the best. You shitters can fuck off and OP got filtered by ogre for sure

The worst offender when it comes to gimmick fights in Sekiro is the armored knight on the bridge in Senpou.

Im so glad I figured out sekiro was a piece of shit less then an hour in. Got my steam refund.

It does put an emphasis on the platforming and stealth mechanics, while also adding in puzzle aspects, so it is neat.

Eh, that's just a pure defense fight. It makes sense for them to toss him in, just to make sure players that are ignoring the parry mechanics can't continue beyond him.

Get gud

Attached: 1579298576648.png (647x659, 122.32K)

Good for you
Because no one cares

Attached: 1583959666865.jpg (255x255, 20.36K)

I really don't get people who can't enjoy sekiro or bayonetta.

why dont fromsoft git gud at making a decent fucking game not littered with cheap unfair bullshit?

Little late there OP.

It seems that (You) do

>The addition of a seperate HP bar in the form of posture also makes things way more itneresting.
It allows them to make it so blocked enemy attacks feels like you’re making progress, it’s a big part of how it encourages you to always be in their face and on the reactive defense at the same time.

>all attacks in souls are exactly the same
AFTER you know the bosses, then yes, all you do is roll because you already know what the boss does. If the boss has a dash, you know you can parry or i-frame it. If the boss has a big downward sweep, you know he has a opening and you have to dodge to the side. This is the same no matter what souls clone you play.
But on your first playthrough, you don't know what you're getting into. The boss can do anything. Maybe he'll spit fire, maybe he has some crazy AoEs, maybe he's super fast. You will die and learn the moves, or you're really good at the game and will be able to react fast to the new threat.
On Sekiro, the boss is going to throw some blockable attacks so you can smash that parry button and then the QTE kanji will show up.

>Fuck that guy, this one boss literally Is poorly designed for a game such as this, kinda with fag OP on this one. But I doubt that OP will ever reach him.

He's a good fight that stresses the importance of positioning and movement, which other human bosses don't really do. It's a meme that bosses don't stress positioning, but rape ape and this guy are pretty much nothing but positioning for the entire fight.

Yeah, it seems like it was done on purpose. Elemental damage, giant mother fucker, stomping all around, spewing flames 360 no scope. Kinda hated it.
Also, headless. Obligatory one-shot mechanic in from game Is a must.

You forgot that all minibosses aside from ROOBAATOO and the knife woman are repeated at least once. Headless are the biggest offender of this. They also repeated the monkey, Owl and Genichiro who are main bosses. Very cheap and reeks of rushed development.

I can't think of any moments in Sekiro that screamed "bullshit" to me

>giantdad memefag that cheatengine’d himself godmode so he can only die via getting kicked off a ledge
It’s their funniest by far
