Because motion controls designed for VR aren't the same as motion controls designed regular 2D screens. It's not like a light gun game where you just point and shoot, you have to move your hands around in 3D space to interact with the game. That would just be awkward on a 2D screen.

You know VR is flatscreen too, right? Only difference is there's two screens and they're smushed up against your eyes as opposed to at a comfortable difference. VR is nothing groundbreaking or innovative, it's basically motion controls with two screens strapped to your eyes.
