I was pretty unimpressed with Source 2 in HL:A. Just looks like Source with improvements bolted on, and considering what the Titanfall guys did with Source that's not a mindblowing achievement. Maybe it's different from a developing perspective though

IIRC wasn't Source 2 supposed to have level streaming so you DON'T need to transition to a totally new discrete level? Or is that just not available in the version we have right now?

They might've just made the decision for the given game, I'm sure we'll know more once the SDK is out.

Come to think of it he's had a really bad fucking week, of subjective time. First Black Mesa, then he gets whisked 20 years into the dystopian future, sees a few familiar faces as old men, gets to do all the same shit as at Black Mesa again except now against a cross-dimensional empire with a girl he probably saw photos of as a baby, gets to see a cross-dimensional portal explode in his face, watches Alyx get fucking stabbed, watches her come back to life thanks to aliens he was murdering by the dozen three days ago, sees one of his only friends get his fucking brain sucked out and then sees him get back up, only for Alyx to vanish thanks to some asshole with a suit and a suitcase.
