Now you're just being a little taffer.

don't forget the snibbedy snabsmen

Gold > MA
Gold is the best game ever made

Thief was meant to be more action packed like Ultima, however the first build of the game sucked so much that they scraped it altogether and made a stealth game. I think levels like Bonehoard are a leftover, because having an easily avoidable horde of zombies nobody is going to bother stealthing around is kinda lame

Bonehoard is best level tho

Guess ill ask in this thread too. Does any user have those pixelart pics of thief some user made years ago?

No one cares. Everyone has own preferences

OP got scared lol me too

To make yourself shit your pants. If you think the second mission is the most horrifying you haven't seen shit yet.

>Thieves Guild
>good
>Mage Towers
>good
Caverns is okay

I am not. I just hate when they making that annoing sound

the supernatural elements are great, that's why Thief 1 is much better than Thief 2

I will admit I did get startled a couple of times but all you have to do is just run past them as they're slow and don't have any projectile attacks. There's no reason to do stealth with these enemies

Word of advice: Don't play Thief after playing Deus Ex

Why yes, a level without challenge, enemies, full of Dark Souls-style fuckyou traps is the best

*clack* *clack* *CLACK* *CLACK**VARROOOOOM*

Attached: DromEd_Object_Model_exppris3.jpg (305x544, 14.05K)

why not?

Based infinite fire arrows guy

yes

Deus Ex stole a lot of the good things from Thief and added more into it like how to approach and beat levels as opposed to Thief which is more linear. One of the few things I do believe Thief has over Deus x is that it has better enemy AI

>Thief
>more linear
Wat

But that's what I did and I thought it was great. Thief isn't an everything rpg like Deus Ex so there is way more attention to detail in its stealth mechanics than Deus Ex. The Sound and level design is also top tier.

DX1 does many things and a lot of them poorly, Thief is a work of art

Why is Thief so fucking overrated?
It's a great game but come on...

It's actually not very good

t. Richard Garriott

Breaking new ground means you don't get a smooth and comfortable ride. Besides, zombies make for nice variety, its an enemy you don't have to hide from.

what does he have to do with Thief?

One example would be the first mission. To enter the castle you must enter through the sewers meanwhile in Deus Ex you've got at least 4 different ways on how to enter the Liberty City building

I didn't really get scared, but the first time I saw one of those crab people I went "What the fuck is that thing?" and I went to look up what it actually was.

That's true but once you get inside there's several options for where to go next.

just storm the front gate bro

Boomers first stealth game. Thief has already been surpassed by Thief 3, Dishonored series, Chaos Theory, Deus Ex series, Manhunt, Prey etc etc.

>get killed or badly wounded by 3 NPC's swinging their swords slowly at you

Oh well I found a part of a picture of the set an user made if anyone was interested

I think it's great for fleshing out the world. There's a juxtaposition going on with it being so early in the game and jarring to the player but being just work to Garrett, and it immediately conveys a lot to the player about the nature of the character and the setting. In addition, the way that you have to explore the Bonehoard like normally but without really having to be sneaky about it makes the game feel a lot more real as well. It's Garrett having to do a chore outside of his normal purview, one that you actually play through, and that makes him all the more grounded. I think the devs actually intended this, given that your motivation to raid the place really is because you're stuck without other shit to do and really need the money.

Is this what you're talking about?
>surpassed by Thief 3, Dishonored series, Chaos Theory, Deus Ex series, Manhunt, Prey
only on v in the year 2020 would you see a post like this and see people say Thief is overrated

Metal Gear, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Sekiro to add to that list

fucking meant for

No but I will take it though, thank you

>still whining about Thieves Guild in 2020

Any game that has little floating alert icons that fill up on an enemy was made for the mentally challenged

Terrible bait. Seriously, work on your baits.

Who the hell actually did stealth in Dark Messiah? Who actually opted to do stealth on a non stealth game and not just run around and kick orcs off cliffs?

What's your favorite TMA anniversary mission?

I suppose you only played the first (aka smallest mission in the game) level? You can get into Bafford's through the gate if you're willing to be a fighting nigga. Once you're inside it's a huge mansion full of branching hallways and secret passages (like the one behind the banner leading to the throne room). Nothing in Deus Ex beats the non-linearity of Thief, come on now.

One more

Attached: 1407013288728.png (159x213, 3.06K)

What's wrong with Mage Towers? Not every level has to be robbing some mansion

havent played any of them yet

it is a bit on the tedious side

>little floating alert icons
As opposed to an arbitrary light gem? Thief was good for its day but that time has long past. Take off the rose tinted glasses and play some new games before stealth is dead forever.

I hate two things - boring symmetrical architecture (4 towers with another in the middle + hedgemaze), and the fact that two of the towers introduce PLATFORMING, which fits in Thief about as much as it does in Doom Eternal

>tfw can't get any fan missions to work

Attached: 635.gif (220x178, 18.03K)

Stealth is dead for a while now, games like dishonored, stealth is just roleplay and the game is actually about flipping out and killing everyone with chuuni powers
They're all like this now

Just get AngelLoader and you will be fine

You did know that you can finish the game without killing right?

i mean, yeah i agree with you
but literally every Thief game starts off about stealing shit then turns into 2/3 the game fighting robots, ghosts, zombies or monsters.

>He didn't refuse the powers

Attached: 1585171142210.jpg (266x237, 42.53K)

Actually fighting any of that shit is generally unrewarding and stacked against you hence the actual necessity for well executed stealth
You can't just blink over a wall if you get spotted either

>literally rips his eye out
>spends the entirely of Thief 2 doing fetch quests for her
Was Garrett a simp?

This, I loved Thief Gold but I cant bring myself to complete Thief 2. robbing a warehouse just isnt interesting especially if you played the first game and got to Constantine's manor.

Where do you think all the excess money he steals goes after each mission? Rent? No he buys gamer girl pee.

This is now ASMR thread
youtube.com/watch?v=rNSh-MJRwAA

Not to mention that playing Thief 2 on Expert means your normal and fire arrows and sword are unusable, whereas in Gold you always had burricks, giant spiders, and crabpeople to kill for fun

Garrett wanted kill this bitch in first place but she proved him that he and she have a same enemy

>be groundbreaking Fantasy stealth game
>have fucking zombies in map level

Or maybe that you're just slow who didn't guessed that normal arrows can be used for distracting the enemy and fire for destroing cameras.

thief is literal kino faggot

The first Thief is a very experimental game with a ton of variety in its missions. There's some charm to the fact that the stealth genre was less standardised back when it was made. You wouldn't get away with half the shit it does nowadays because stealth fans have expectations.
