Hyped for both personally. Played the demo and plan on transferring my save over to the main game. I'm gonna play FFVIIR first though. I also had a pretty good time with Bravely Default 2, even if it was hard as balls.

I liked the demo, so I'll buy it. Only thing is I wanted to play the original version before then (been meaning to play these games for like, 20 years). I just finished Final Fantasy Adventure and I just started Secret of Mana, but I doubt I'll have time to play through the SNES version of Trials first. I did really like what I played of the demo though, so I will certainly play that one.
Yeah not sure why Square Enix decided to do that. They should have released ToM in a less crowded month. Or at the very least, maybe not right next to their other Action RPG release which is way more hyped up.

Not so much. Charlotte is your designated healer and can keep a tanky Duran alive. With the right combinations, the team works.

Just got done playing the demo, I was surprised at how good it was. The original was one of my favorite games as a wee lad, the remake is faithful beyond my wildest dreams while still making good changes, namely the completely revamped combat system. I can't fucking wait.
Charlotte is basically a cheat code, at least in the original. She can bail you out of any situation and heal your party.
Blame FF7R for delaying. I'm guessing Mana probably has to be April or earlier for financial year reasons like many other games.

I played trials a few months ago and didn't like it. Loved the two other games in the mana collection though. It's weird, I'm old and played all the snes and gb games back in the day but could never get into trials. Had to force myself to finish

Hard mode is one thing that might actually be adjusted between the demo and the release, since it's mostly just a numbers tweak.

The story isn't exactly a strong suit for the game. It's on a somewhat shorter side for the sake of replayability with different characters and the two class upgrades they do along the game's progression; it's really more of a gameplay JRPG than a plot one, though it's not like the plot's terrible, the demo just covers the really simple openings.

As much as I love the faithfulness of the remake, I do wish they made the costumes make more sense. The original sprite makes it look like she's wearing a suit of armor.

That said, I'm really fucking confused by the renaming of things. Why the fuck is Wisp now called 'Lumina'? This isn't even an ambiguous translation thing (I prefer 'Mana Holy Land' to 'Mana Sanctuary', but I can imagine that whatever the term is in Japanese might be able to be translated either way); you can hear them very clearly say 'Wisp' in the Japanese dub. Also, why the fuck did they bother changing 'Mana Holy Land' to 'Mana Sanctuary' anyway? Mana Holy Land is a great name!

I think some of the localization changes were 'tism induced so they'd fall in line with some of the later Mana localization choices. Which, you know, isn't consistent with the actual Japanese dialogue, but Square-Enix are retroactive tards like that.

Keep in mind that the game is only impressive in terms of its presentation.
The gameplay itself is actually pretty braindead since the combat expects you to just hold the attack button so your characters will automatically attack the next best enemy and occasionally press the tech button when the gauge is full.
It's also full of bugs including stats and certain equipment types not working properly, tech can be chained, buffs are glitched, etc.

I wouldn't say it's entirely braindead, at least, not the later parts of it where you're expected to actually use spells, mind status effects, manage resources, etc. But earlier on and maybe towards the middle it is. I'd call the game easy, but there's still a ton of fun stuff to do, like managing your team, and building a good character. The classes are nice too. Plus it's just a fun game to play, warts and all.
