The level design is no where close to being on par with 3&K, and it doesn't have the balls to go full CD in design. The animation lock makes the game feel incredibly sluggish, and the Hardboiled Heavies are lame. Worst "classic" game by a long shot, bring back Sonic Advance.

Honestly not much to complain about. Of course the number of old stages outnumbering the new by a landslide is my biggest complaint, but only because the new stages that aren't Titanic Monarch are so damn good. Speaking of Titanic Monarch, I wasn't a big fan of its gimmicks and felt it dragged way too long but it ain't no Metropolis Zone thankfully.

Obviously there are issues. Bosses like Heavy Gunner are extremely tedious on replay. Too many reused levels and not enough original ones. Flying Battery is way too fucking hideously long and usually makes me drop replays. No full Angel Island Zone.
Also the update buffed some bosses making them more annoying, and changed the Metal Sonic fight to feel even jankier.
Still the best Sonic game.
