Chapter 11 is a fucking kino

Can you think of a better way to reveal Gman?

Attached: 5465601.jpg (1294x1294, 168.74K)

>silly alyx...you wouldnt need all that to imprison gordon freeman

was pretty awesome, but Alyx's voice actress didnt really react that great to seeing gman and his powers.

Attached: gman34.jpg (503x146, 9.22K)

>can see from 20 feet away that it's gman
epic reveal bro

so was gman locked away or just mindfucking?

The new VA didn't do it for me at all, she sounded checked out most of the time.

pretty sure he was locked away, combine used vortigaunts to imprison him

>combine used vortigaunts to imprison him
>vortigaunts lead Alyx to the vault
>vortigaunts don't know what's inside

Attached: 1493584942905.jpg (431x450, 68.11K)

yea the vorts were needed to lock him up. in episode 2 they use thier powers to block gman from gordon

She was terrefied, you could hear fear in her voice. I think she did a great job as Alyx and honestly If noone said that they changed Alyx VA I wouldn't have noticed

why is gman in a virus

I am gmot a gmelf
I am gmot a gmoblin
I'm a gman

the mystery is how they were able to capture him
i cannot imagine it, great idea which should be left without details

are phages viruses?

Why did they change anyways?

You open a bathroom stall and find him on the toilet jacking off to Gordon pictures

IN THE FLESH

bacteriophages are definitely viruses

kino

vorts only wanted their own kin to be saved
alyx wanted in the vault
they helped each other

The more i see this ending the more the pocket dimension theory make sense.

During Gman's segment, he briefly teleports you to some outer-spacey area. Was that a carbon star with an ancient satellite colonized by sentient fungi?

Attached: serveimage.png (148x125, 36.5K)

have a YT link of somebody playing who actually looks at it instead of staring forward like an idiot?

gman appears at the ending with Eli. look to the left

No, but the large star or planet-like thing is just off to the left. Gman is off to the left in the scene with eli and dog too

>"It's not a vault... it's a prison!"
>HOLY FUCK IT'S THE G-MAN
It was pretty predictable since the entire game I was wondering under what circumstances the G-Man was going to show up under. They did try to fake you out with the vault explosion not killing you though. It was still amazing. I saw the silhouette and couldn't contain the awe.

Both, he specifically needed the Combine to set up a prison powered by vortigaunts that Alyx would eventually find her way to just so when he offered her that chance to intervene in the future, she could blow away the Combine advisor by shooting a vortigaunt beam at it from the past.

Yeah, I assumed it was the g-man at first as well. Then the game tells me it's gordo, so I figure it's going for the fake-out. Predictable, but the rest of the ending threw me off so I'm not disappointed.

Why'd Valve rip off Destiny?

Actually no fucker

I was wondering why they needed so much fucking shit just for gordan
then I saw the silhouette and felt like a retard

Remember, they are all disconnected from the vortessence.

How did they do it lads?

The madmen actually created an ending that resolved a 13 year long cliffhanger in an emotionally satisfying way.
It doesn't make sense, it's weird and a complete retcon.
And yet when that credits song hit I felt completely okay with it.

Anyone else get the impression that G-Man is actually a good guy? That he's trying to set up events so that humanity will succeed?

When they said they actually captured the whole apartment building around him I knew it had to be g-man. I didn't realize why the vorts were involved until I thought about it later but it's a really nice touch. All the time-space distortion around the chamber really sold the idea that the combine were dipping into all their power.
After all that, the fact that Alyx still thought he was Gordon cracked me up

We don't know but they definitely made him feel like a villain in that scene. At least to the point where it should make you feel uneasy to release him.

Good guy or not we wants combine gone and best thing is they are afraid of him.
Makes me think gman is the most powerful being in HL's lore

>wants combine gone
Ofc, it will spoil all these delicious humans.

>most powerful being in HL's lore
He works for someone (something?), that alone means he isn't the most powerful one.

> the fact that Alyx still thought he was Gordon cracked me up

She has been fed all these stories about Gordon for her entire life. A man who single handledly saved humanity with nothing but a crowbar. When she finally met him in HL2 she developed crush for him

From her perspective it makes sense that combine would use all their power to imprison Gordon

The Vorts were essentially being used like batteries.

the only times she really brought me out of the game was the way she was so casual about surviving jeff, and then similarly 15 minutes later was like "hey russ, gonna hop into these antlion tunnels alone, most likely going to be torn limb from limb"
i'm glad they didnt go all out the other way and have her overacting in fear the whole time, but her tone was like she was just running late for class or something, especially since she reacted realistically to the xen overgrowth and being in pitch blackness earlier in the game

Is G-Man an SCP?

gman runs scp

he would be classified as one, yes

its a fucking shitty cliffhanger that retcons an actually good cliffhanger to add absolutely nothing of value to the story. go fuck yourself.

Attached: 1505106432745.png (500x522, 129.21K)

>to add absolutely nothing of value to the story
nice shit opinion

>The madmen actually created an ending that resolved a 13 year long cliffhanger in an emotionally satisfying way.
>emotionally satisfying
There's nothing emotionally satisfying about using fucking time travel to alter a cliffhanger the devs clearly weren't interested in following up on.

>retcon
It doesn't even fucking fit definision of a retcon you imbecile
they don't deny Eli died in ep2

A dangerous intelligent SCP with goals and motivations, the Gman is very dangerous because he can communicate with humans the Gman proves is useful for his own motives.
As Eli said our "mutual friend"

Attached: image-5.png (768x1024, 889.47K)

all retcon fags fail to realize ep2 needed to happen for gman to have something to convince alyx to work for him
he needed something emotionally impactful but overall meaningless in the grand scheme of things to change.

It really does look like a big virus. Foreshadowing?

you don't know what a retcon is you dumb nigger.

this literally takes influence from epistle 3's ending itself. where the gman takes alyx.

mouthbreathers like you want exactly what was spoiled by marc laidlaw.

ya bro eli being alive is going to add so much depth to the plot.
going AKSHUALLY ELI DIDNT DIE AT ALL LMAO is the exact "definision" of a retcon you mouth-breather.

Attached: 1500431246194.jpg (260x200, 8.51K)

>Alyx goes straight to stasis, does not pass go does not collect $200
>Gordon confirmed for HL3VR main protag with Eli as his wingman
>gonna save humanity, no nihilistic Laidlaw cucklord grimdark ending
Worked out better than I ever would have predicted
Valve is back baby

Attached: 1583440866719.jpg (919x1587, 882.49K)

>only looking at eli living
lets just ignore the gman and the implications his actions have on the story as a whole

your post is gonna age like shit when nu-valve's half life 3 turns out to be absolute dogshit compared to epistle 3. cant wait for the apologize to marc laidlaw threads.

>gonna save humanity, no nihilistic Laidlaw cucklord grimdark ending
it ended on another cliffhanger

Doesn't matter, they can't actually go through with using a leaked script so we're getting anything but Epistle 3
>n-n-nooooooooooooo valve is never going to make another game ever again this was just a fluke
imagine actually believing that because you weren't paying attention

He's probably referring to Laidlaw's intended ending for Episode 3. He's also probably one of those faggots who get upset at bad endings.

No, a retcon would be if they revealed that Eli never actually died in EP2 and all the blood was just ketchup or some shit. Having a character actually change the events via time travel fuckery isn't a retcon.

Just watched the scene, you're totally right. The whole scene was awesome except for Alyx's lines (writing wise) and the VA's acting. Brings the whole scene down a lot.

Even that wouldn't be a retcon, just a copout explanation
A retcon would be if they just pretended it didn't happen at all
Funny enough there's potentially retcons here regarding small details that changed in the scene such as Eli's clothing.

Originally it was Gordon Freeman in the prison, but as the vortigaunt batteries died down, Gman took over, set Gordon free, starting HL2.
During the speech in the void he's showing alyx the future, allowing him to gain control over alyx if she is to accept the "trade".

Not even her original actress knows. They recorded like half her lines then one day just stopped contacting her. The official reason is they wanted someone who sounded younger. Despite the new VA only be 3 years younger and the original VA never being asked to do a younger voice in the first place.

No way is the combine going to ever make a time-stopping, space-warping, enormous vortessence-powered prison for fucking Gordon, they'd just kill him

you dont need all that to imprison gordan freeman, alyx

Maybe she laughed at Ali when he said something like "Dota2 will become as big as football or soccer" or smirked at him the wrong way
