Thoughts on Uncharted 4?

Was a pretty good time. Shame it had the least combat of the series considering it had the best combat. There was a bit too much time just spent on exploration but at least they finally expanded on your exploration tools for the first time. Also was a bit disappointing that there was nothing supernatural this time, but I guess that counts as a twist in itself.

I should replay it soon.

The standalone mini-sequel is also a pretty great experiment with semi-open world design.

Is U4 100gbs like fucking 3? If so i'm not downloading it.

Huh..I have that chandelier hanging behind them.

47 gigs according to psn

I hated 2 so much I never played another entry in the series.
Fuck the franchise.

would have been 10/10 if it had supernatural elements and no nadine

>I thought Elena was going to be a secondary character against like in 3
>She's just sitting at home waiting for Drake for like half the game
>Mfw she shows up for the second half and is along with drake for most of the second half

It was a nice surprise.

I didn't mind Nadine as much as some people. I was fine that she was able to take Drake on in a fist fight. I just wish she hadn't gotten off as scott free as she did (though I guess she did lose basically her entire PMC, but even so).

That's a very interesting one to hate. Care to share?

My dad liked it

I actually had a lot of fun with it. "Movie game" or not. It was still enjoyable.

It doesn't make sense that he was able to disarm and brawl with hundreds of soldiers but he can't take one punch to a woman

Yea UC4 gameplay was great. That fight across the ship graveyard was the peak of the series. However, the game did take way too long to kick in and throw in big enemies at you. I feel like the heavy enemies didn’t appear until the last chapter while in UC2, they seem to appear much earlier. They didn’t intergrate “set piece” and standard gameplay with each other more cohesively smoothly like in UC2 i.e. tank and heli-train section. You are either doing standard 3rd shooter gameplay or in a interactive set piece cutscene
Story was a fucking mess. However, it would have been okay if UC3 is completely non-canon as it had a lot of contradiction with UC4 story It seem like they wanted to “remake” the story after UC3 which was a bigger mess.
Fucking online is a mess beside the co-op PvE mode though. That unlock model is fucked for PvP. We should have stayed with UC2 PvP but with custom rooms

>People rave about Uncharted games
>Buy a PS3 for FF13 (hahahaha)
>Bundle comes with Uncharted 2
>Spend 12 gruelling hours hating it before turning the movie off
I was an endlessloop of walking between dull shooting galleries and holding a button to climb, constantly overlayed with Nathan Drake's "witty" banter. I hated the cast and hated the gameplay, not sure what more I can tell you. Combined with 13 it was the last time I ever considered picking up a console.

>Uncharted

Ruined Tomb Raider

I thought it was okay.
It also went on about three hours too long. When we finally got to Libertalia, I was like "FUCKING FINALLY, JESUS" and by the time we got to the booby-trapped cave, I was completely checked out.

Looks like the "no story allowed" police are here. Forgive us for not letting it be 99% gameplay and 1% cutscenes

At least Nu-Tomb Raider is actually more of a game than Uncharted.

God I love Elena's feet so much, Nathan is a lucky guy

feels like you were so bitter and shocked by ff13 being a disappointment you hate consoles now
That and you're a weeb. Who buys a console for just ff lma0

That is absolutely fucking not true. Constant cutscenes and qtes on a greater scale than Uncharted.

I feel like only people who haven't actually played uncharted say there's no gameplay to it even though there's plenty of gameplay.

Hell, I remember wishing there were more breaks in the action during certain parts of 3 (mainly right after the plane crash).

noncanon
Uncharted died when Amy Hennig left.

Not him, but it's the climbing that makes these games dull, not the cutscenes.

Uncharted 1 was okay, nothing great, felt like a turd after the jak&daxter games from previous gen from those devs.
Uncharted 2 was the best, you really had that sense of adventure.
Uncharted 3 was a step back but still good.
Uncharted 4 was dog shit, they even got rid of the supernatural enemy's at the end that all the other games had, at least in the other games after hours of killing mercs you had some new type of enemy.

(((Druckmann))) was writing Uncharted alongside Amy since the beginning.

The combat is more in-depth.

I never said there wasn't gameplay, it's just lacking. Gameplay in Uncharted feels more like a means to end (interactive setpieces, gorgeous locations, story) rather than them wanting to make a video game with cool ideas and then implementing the cool setpieces, gorgeous locales, and story.

Old God Of War actually has a lot in common with Uncharted, I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say Uncharted might not exist if God Of War didn't exist first but the big difference between the two is that the developers put in a lot of effort to make engaging combat with interesting enemies to fight even if the game is mostly a button masher they give you a lot to play around with and later games love giving new abilities in an almost zelda-esque way.

What does uncharted do? Oh I guess you get a new weapon...it works exactly like the last one but it's fully auto! or more powerful up close! Oh and I guess here you can have a rope for some light (but surprisingly fun) movement abilities.

is that the guy who said games dont need "fun" or something like that?

>says he buys console for final fantasy game
>but hates story-driven games

The combat in uncharted 4 was actually pretty fucking good. If anything there wasn't enough of it. It's one of the few third person shooters I can think of that really encouraged moving around the battlefields instead of just hunkering down in one spot since melee's are an instakill on damaged enemies and you can go back into hiding if you escape enemy sightlines, so you are encouraged to keep moving.

Gun variety isn't that great, it's true, but generally it felt like guns came in tiers anyway, it was less they work differently and more the later guns are better than the earlier ones. The difference is between gun categories, not guns within the same category.

>The gameplay is what makes this movie game dull
Sure, and the web swinging in spider-man was what made the game dull

Underage ban.
13 shipped more PS3 consoles than anything else, including Last of Us. Bundles were well over a million in Japan alone on launch day, and 13 proved far more popular overseas.

The environments are nice, especially the pirate island with the big mountain. But it had the least combat. The first half of the game feels like an interactive cutscene until Madagascar. But that's about it.

That's the one.

I agree with him to an extent, for something like The Last Of Us, where the enjoyment of the gameplay is supposed to come from encounters being tense and threatening, and not what's traditionally "fun."

Very generally though, he's a raging homo.

Do you consider
>holding the left stick and occasionally tapping X to speed things up
engaging gameplay?

>got rid of the supernatural enemy's at the end that all the other games had
This killed U4 for me. Why not just keep it simple? No, the Jew just had to force shit plot with flashbacks, brother etc. Just make Indiana Jones tribute, fucker

Amy was the one reminding ND that the game had to have actual game parts. Druckmann on his own is basically just "Wannabe HBO" writer.

He takes like 50 punches from her, she never actually wins a fight against you, she just dodges everything you throw at her.

PS1 controllers didn't had analog triggers until the PS3.

Got like 3/4 of the way through then dropped forever, just got bored

I never thought this joke of a movie franchise was very good. And also fuck Naughty Dog to hell because of their "Durr the next game will star the daughter character because it would have been sexist if the main lead fathered a son. Got to break expectations and womyn are powerful." Fuck the director of the last Uncharted game, he obviously has propaganda in the brain and he wants YOU to buy it.

>That's the one.
How people like that even get the last vote in big game studios is mind boggling.

>Just make Indiana Jones tribute, fucker
They probably tought they were "too good" for that kind of game after the last of us.

Even the best game in the franchise is worse than another game made with the same engine.

shut the fuck up zoomer

Played through the nathan drake collection and 4 a few days ago, combats pretty fun, I was surprised they kept one main love interest for the entire series, chloe was qt but once elena returns she basically gets written out of relevance

Chloe is the one you have nasty sex with because you dont respect her, elena is the one you marry.

I read Blood Sweat and Pixels, and it sounded like he was a competent gameplay programmer as of Jak 3 that became buddy buddy with the directors until he forced himself in as a co-writer. Uncharted 4's development was a bit of a clusterfucker at the beginning, hence why Amy's script got thrown out, and since that game ended up being a huge system seller, he'll get away with making any shit he wants under Sony in the future. This is why TLOU2 will be a rape revenge story about Ellie avenger the murder of her kike girlfriend.

I was generally enjoy 4 up until the island. And I know LL isn't on a island, but it looks just like it, which killed the whole experience for me.

Yes they did retard, dual analogues came out for PS1 like a year after launch.

It had the best story of any of the games, but it didn't feel like a climatic ending to the story because it's the only one where nothing supernatural happens.

good tps, but all the walk and talking segments and interactive cutscenes are boring and add little to the game.

Read my post again and read it very carefully, you inbred moron.

>the retro throwback segment has better platforming mechanics than the rest of the modern game

Any other games that do this?

Not to mention nathans long lost brother introduced out of nowhere, even if I liked sam as a character

And TLOU2 will probably sell a shitload because of hype and a drought because of the ps4 getting at the end of it's life.

I am an inbred moron.
Uncharted sucks though.

And they even fucking teased supernatural stuff during last part of the game. What was the point? Why? What were they trying to tell me?

I only play uncharted for the adrenaline and crazy sequences because any other thing that that is shit, and this game had basically 0 of that, you spend most of the game climbing.
It was shit.

Fun for a single playthrough
Terrible for a second

I think it was a good choice, because it gave you more time to "bond" with Drake's shitty brother without distractions from Elena.

After how bad u3 was I wasnt expecting much, but I had great fun playing it, my biggest complain is that they should have use the whole libertaria thing in a different way, like adding some supernatural stuff like they did in the first two games.

>he'll get away with making any shit he wants under Sony in the future
70% of the staff involved in Uncharted 4 have left. Even if TLOU 2 is a success. Sony might end up mercy killing the studio because it's clear the talent has left. Hell, they made a massive deal about poaching a 343i programmer named Corrine Yu who was known as a genius programmer at MS and made her head programmer on the project. Promised 1080p 60fps at E3 2014 without telling the programming team. Then fired the senior programming team just before they climbed down on that promise before E3 to 30fps. Yu left the industry to work on drone projects at Amazon.
Naughty Dog is basically only a name now and far from the company Rubin and Gavin founded in their garage.

Is this the one where he got his ass beat by a black woman?

it'll be free on April

>I was fine that she was able to take Drake on in a fist fight
Because you're a literal retard. The avarage man has 143% more punching power than the avarage woman.

Needed more combat scenarios and uses for the rope

Sam was a pointless addition

The main bad guy's motivation seemed stupid when you consider Drake should've never been as famous as he was among treasure hunters since every game ended with him broke

Terrible boss fights

Chloe's game is superior in every regard

>that promise at Playstation Experience 2014 to 30fps
Mixed events up. But ND's company culture can't survive. Even Sony Santa Monica staff have made shady tweets on ND and their senior staff were leaving en mass because of shitty work environment too (Never mind Cory making cryptic tweets about it). The studio head, she even left to go to Google to work on Stadia.

>Naughty Dog is basically only a name now and far from the company Rubin and Gavin founded in their garage.
It's all so sad, maybe i'll play the jak&daxter games on ps3 again during this quarantine and rage at that turret level in jak2.

Best one, and a great final to a great franchise. At least 2-4, since I never finished 1.

LL however was a complete shitfest and shows that Uncharted clings to its main producers and directors.
>Chloe now looks like the Inspector from the manga MONSTER
>female writing so on the nose that they literally talk about boys, rescue an animal that then thanks them, and have a big emotional "let it out" moment together because women are more open get it?
>constantly tries to push Sam away when he tries to help, just in order to push a empowering agenda
The last one was so infuriating. You push an object and sam goes "hey let me help" only for the girls to say "no stay away we can do this". This happened 3-4 times in a very short climbing section even.
So fucking on the nose its not funny anymore. "Here take my hand". No "I got this!". I mean come on! And it was way too simple and formulaic.

>simple and formuliac

Uncharted in a nutshell

Rafe was based as fuck. Best "villain" and probably the most likeable character in the series (aside from maybe Sully).

Attached: uncharted 4 rafe.jpg (1280x720, 97.88K)

It seemed like it went on too long. It was alright.

>beats nathan and his brother at the same time as if it was the most easy thing in the world.

What were they thinking, i dont have a problem with a strong female character, but at least make it a bit more believable.
