I tried to play 3 with a couple expansions, but it ran like shit on my integrated laptop. 4's performance is miles better, even with nearly all the expansions and stuff packs

I still play 3, runs like shit but that's a small price to pay for the last good Sims game. Really fun if you check out the custom worlds people make, basically infinite gameplay with all the places you can startover with.

You're basically playing an online game with high latency thanks to reused code. A lot of the gameplay scripts are just Python code running in a client instance that connects to the server or the game core running in C++. This causes simulation lag and clock desync when running in high speed.

I think there is some mod you need to download so that the sims detect things further away, otherwise they will act like the things too far away don’t exist.

Keep in mind that the reason why my sim looks different is because of facial mods.
That is, stuff that's added in makeup or eyes or whatever that gives her skin face alterations that make her look different, that is why I added all of my mods.
Also, create-a-sim mods don't really make the game buggy
