That’s Capcom’s fault for recurrinngly putting the series on ice.

>2 years before the fan-translation of DGS 2
B-bros...

I see people talk about Ace Attorney pretty frequently actually

The HD version looks like fucking dogshit. When are they going to port the 3D games so I don't have to stare at hideous deviantart artwork?

daily reminder that
YES Apollo Justice was the right direction for the series
YES Capcom ruined everything by pulling the good ol" that never happend
YES They should have kept the old voices even with controversy
YES 3D art style ruined everything

OBJECTION!
Nobody talks about it because there is nothing to talk about

what is there to talk about? the games are good but they have 0 replay-ability. Unlike something like say, Mega Man, which is very replayable and sparks discussion even when the only thing new is Legacy collections, I don't see as many people eager to replay the games in the current gen ports unless somehow they haven't played them before yet, so you're not gonna get much discussion till a brand new game gets announced.

>YES They should have kept the old voices even with controversy
Fill me in. What happened?

Voice for Phoenix exposed his Penix to female co workers

DGS 2 will take years to get translated

We always get AA threads every other day.

Attached: 1584244920096.png (480x485, 191.26K)

There's an AA thread almost daily and they often last well over the bump limit, especially during weekends.

I hope he yelled "Take that!" while doing it.

You can blame Capcom for two reasons.
One. They dropped Phoenix Wright in one game and took years to put him back in. in the mean time they they gave miles the spotlight and didn't release those games to the west. Which isn't a big loss because the games suck ass.
Two. Capcom went through their "Lets listen to Inafune's dumbass outsourcing Idea" phase that didn't end until recently.

>Apollo Justice was the right direction for the series
They should have gone all the way and just make it happen in a different universe than trilogy, or simply a different country maybe. Phoenix should have been just a cameo or "that one defense attorney in Japanifornia"
>Capcom ruined everything by pulling the good ol" that never happend
Hobo Phoenix and jurist system were too shitty to keep, so thank God for that.
>They should have kept the old voices even with controversy
Not gonna happen. You know how it works down there.
>3D art style ruined everything
Not really, no. Sprites definitely allowed for more flashy character animations, but 3D shines when they make full use of camera just like in DGS.

Why was Edgeworth voice changed too?

what the fuck happened that suddenly made danganronpa the de facto mainstream vn

Massive sales.

>not “Hold it!”

>the de facto mainstream vn
Since when, DR is just as dead

>YES They should have kept the old voices even with controversy
Jap voices got changed too so I don't think some US controversy affected their decision all that much.

maybe it is but for some reason I constantly find myself finding people refrencing dr in unrelated places and people with dr profile pictures lately. plus i've noticed more dr discussion on here in the past 6ish months aswell. I feel like phoenix wright was infinitely more relevant a few years ago.

I think its cause of the anniversary that is coming up, the devs said they will release some news about the series on it

*cough cough*

ace attorney is the second best selling visual novel of all time, danganronpa is the ninth.

I agree with every point except the last one. AA had probably the best 2D-3D artstyle transition I can think of.

I'd like to see real lawyers do a full playthrough of it

2D = soul
3D = soulless

Just wait until AA7 comes out.

This was actually pretty entertaining.
I'd prefer to see someone with knowledge of Japanese court system looking at the games since that's what the games are parodying, though.

It actually looks unironically great.

Based
Also pic related is soul vs soulless

I downloaded the first game to my girlfriend and she is loving it while I also enjoy reliving it in a different way.

>YES Apollo Justice was the right direction for the series
If Takumi went harder on the themes and the eerie tone, AJ couldn've been the MGS2 of the series. I don't like what it is, but I love what they were going for and what it could've been.

I thought the 3DS version looked alright aside from the choppy animations.
>tfw the AJ port had all animations intact and they even redrew Phoenix's sprite for the flashback case
I wish they had put that much effort into the Trilogy but I guess it was too much work.

>Which isn't a big loss because the games suck ass.
The only Miles game they didn't release in the West (GK2/AAI2) is literally the best game in the whole series you idiot.

>Two. Capcom went through their "Lets listen to Inafune's dumbass outsourcing Idea" phase that didn't end until recently.
Not sure if you're even in the thread anymore but how did that affect Ace Attorney?
Arc System Works apparently did some work on the Investigations games (probably sprites), but otherwise AA still seems to made wholly by Capcom themselves.
Well aside from the anime cutscenes in the 3DS games.

>tfw no DGS 2
>tfw A A 7 never

They already release 2 cases, the full thing is coming soon like they did for DGS1

>tfw PLvsAA and DGS actually got new composer for the job and he's pretty damn good
>main series is still stuck with Iwadare and his style is getting a bit stale after 4 games
I don't hate him but I really want something fresh already.

I miss Miku Monday thread where it's not about autistic waifufaggotry

Attached: 1585339969538.jpg (400x600, 70.71K)

>Miku
>autistic waifufaggotry
Those go hand in hand to be prefectly honest.

Phoenix Wright's voice was Ben fucking Judd, one of the heads behind Mighty No. 9 and has a history of being a scummy faggot throughout the industry.

He's not a professional voice actor either, Capcom just got random office employees to record the soundbytes for AA1-3 during the localization. It's only when AA5 came out with proper cutscenes did they have to hire actual VAs.

>YES Apollo Justice was the right direction for the series
>YES Capcom ruined everything by pulling the good ol" that never happend
Agreed. Series needs to move on from Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth, etc. Keep them around as mentor figures, not fucking major protagonists.
>YES They should have kept the old voices even with controversy
They weren't voice actors, just Capcom employees.
>YES 3D art style ruined everything
3D artstyle is great and is about as perfect of a transition from the 2D sprites as they could have possibly done. Look at PWvsPL if you want an example of how it could be done worse.

Inafune's autism didn't affect Ace Attorney, the series flew under the radar during that whole shitfest luckily. It operated as normal.

I guess that's one of the perks of being a relatively niche series in the west.
I don't think I could handle an AA game made by a western company.

Wow, didn't realize how crappy the original looks in comparison.

That's not even the original GBA version.
But yeah, the first game had pretty rough looking sprites.

OH SHIT Yas Forums

YOU'RE ON TRIAL FOR MURDER. PHOENIX WRIGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR DEFENSE ATTORNEY, BUT HAS SUDDENLY BEEN REPLACED BY PIC RELATED.

THE PROSECUTION IS MILES EDGEWORTH

HOW DOES THE TRIAL GO?

Attached: 1584392250440.png (910x512, 44.99K)

It's a shitty blown up screenshot, the originals look crisp on an actual DS.

Attached: 1439782575126.png (768x576, 404.99K)

Edgeworth is literally unbeatable without Wright's luck so I might as well confess.

Ace Attorney never had a big fanbase to begin with. It always feels more relevant while you're still invested in a series.

Cute

A list of things wrong with Ace Attorney
- Digital only in the West
- New games only localized to English
- 3 Japanese exclusive games
- Capcom refuses to properly market it in the West
- Overreliance on nostalgia, familiar tropes and Phoenix (his name sells)
- Refusal to move on (countless ports of the original trilogy, anime/movie/merch/stage shows etc almost exclusively rely on the GBA games)
- Too much fanservice, returning character feel like caricatures of themselves
- Dumbed-down writing, less trust in the player and easier puzzles to appeal to a broader audience
- Writing is becoming more cliché anime with "cuhrazy popcult references XD", original quaint voice the series had is lost
- DLC episodes that should be in the base game
- AA style of storytelling is becoming stale, new games reuse old ideas
- The series has become a parody of itself, the appeal was never about a laywer superhero screaming and deskslamming, saving the world with increasingly higher stakes. It was about engaging mysteries and memorable characters presented in a charming and unique setting.
- One-off characters are more and more unbelievable.
- Newer series have filled the void (Zero Escape, DragonPotato, etc)
- New ideas are neglected, everything has to follow the same boring mold. Exciting changes in AA4 or the AAI and DGS duologies are not received well by the whiny fanbase and are unpopular commercially.

I swear if they actually bring back Gumshoe and Franziska, this series is dead to me.

I hate how the series legacy has become: epic objectionman is secretly gay ahaha.

Seems like you're the whiniest of them all

>this is dead to me!
Are you a woman or a tumblrfag who wishes they were a woman? Who actually speaks like that?

Series has gone on too long and needed to end for a long time desu.

DD looked like shit. It took until SoJ and DGS to look good.

Attached: 1577572036901.png (442x210, 106.24K)

Capcom should have stopped after AA3 or continued with the direction of AA4 to not end up with stale and medoicre games as we have now.

>because the games suck ass
DGS and AAI2 are two of the best games in the entire series. What the fuck are you eveon on about?

Discord. It's immensely popular on that platform for some reason.

>0 replay value

I link them to books. My favorites I'll reread once in a while. Same for AA.
