it's about the amount of force you can project within a certain amount of space. Doomguy is fucking powerful because he's basically unrivalled at moving really fast and getting to an objective whilst maintaining absolute superiority in terms of putting out firepower and damage within a certain amount of space. And that's what stopping the demons called for; not a full frontal fight as they were infinite, but one man who was able to cut through swathes of them at a time and shut them down before they knew what was going on
