Anything that comes close to Tactics Ogre: LUCT?

Just started this after wrapping up FF: Tactics. Only 5 hours in and I'm obsessed. Great gameplay, great story, great graphics. Anything recommendations to scratch the itch if/when I ever complete this?
Also, Tactics Ogre appreciation thread.

They literally dont make them like this anymore so take your time.

The class system and crafting suck balls.

I don't think there's a Tactics game that can come close to LUCT

Front Mission. Particularly Front Mission 3.

You want a game that comes close to "just fucking spam archers, haha the classes are barely different from each archetype, tactics? sure! Just fucking spam attack since there's no reason for anything else"

I like it but it's a terrible fucking tactics game. The elements are all pointless outside of dragon magic.

i think there's some kind of extensive enhancement mod, but that might be for FFT, not sure

Play the One Vision mod. It rebalances classes among other things.

Batter of the Maid
Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark

Oh I plan on it. I can tell I've barely stretched the surface.

What's wrong with the class system? I haven't seen valid criticism outside of "LOL ARCHERS OP". May patch it to fix that RNG garbage in the crafting though.

Front Mission 3 is garbage and the worst fucking mainline FM.
*Dark Magic
Dragon is strong but the resource drain on gem and MP costs are prohibitive, meanwhile Dark costs nothing and does literally everything the main six schools do but better.
But yeah, you sure don't play Matsuno games for the strategy or balance.

>What's wrong with the class system?
The way it ties levels to class marks and a lot of classes don't become viable until the post game. Every new job you get reverts your unit's level to 1 and forces you to retrain them from scratch. It's a massive pain in the ass compared to how JP worked in FFT.

Not the same genre, but you could probably play the other Matsuno-headed games if you're okay with that.

>play the mod that was shilled by its own creator pretending to be a professional review from IGN asking about it

Nah, I'd rather not

Dark isn't bad, I just never found a good use really outside of maybe one or two spells. I prefer dragon magic for the level 2 spells.
But magic in gneeral is pretty bad, then again so is melee.
Ranged is OP as fuck in this game

>But magic in gneeral is pretty bad
Are you crazy?
Magic in PSP TO is absolutely fucking busted, there's nothing that compares at any point in the game beyond the first two hours.
Ironically, the only thing that can compete with magic in terms of damage, and only single target, is melee.

>Magic in PSP TO is absolutely fucking busted, there's nothing that compares at any point in the game beyond the first two hours.
A high AT archer or melee unit will beat a mage any day of the week in TO PSP.

Thanks for the recc. I've seen that mentioned a couple times and I dig mechs so I'll get it on my PSP ASAP.

I'm a smoothbrained idiot that's not totally opposed to abusing OP classes/characters, but I'm down for something that's got better systems. Any recommendations?

Yeah there are some mods out there. Wanted to check out the vanilla version first, though.

Hoshigami, preferably on the Playstation but the somewhat neutered DS port is fin in a cinch.

Late game it's good but early on, as in for the first 2 playthroughs (assuming you do all three routes), it's terrible. In PotD it's good, yes. But you have to build for it.
Ranged is just 2 or 3 skills and faggot flying fairy boy Canopus will fucking one shot most anything

Depends really on the situation - for AoE stuff at end game, magic is best but for 99% of the time, you'll be best off using archers

Not much on PSP. On PC you can get Xcom

>A high AT archer or melee unit will beat a mage any day of the week in TO PSP.
Nope, mainly because none of the ranged get nearly enough AT to compete with something like Necros or Liches, who are the fastest classes in the game.
This is without considering itemization, buffs and other utilties, spellcasters are the de facto most busted classes in PSP TO by miles.

Ravness > Chaos sisters

Ive always loved those two games. Have posters framed in my room. I know there are a lot of secrets in that game...like pumpkinheads, angels...etc, and multiple endings.

>Necros or Liches
Those are a bunch of obscure post-game classes.

>liches fast

user, they're one of the highest RT characters

>Late game it's good but early on, as in for the first 2 playthroughs
You can get a mage that hits just as hard as your archer in a fresh run as soon as Ch2, and does so in AoE too, unlike your archer.
In post game it's even more ridiculous.

>not using caster to CC spam
you're small time

>One Vision mod
just because the creator is a whack job doesnt mean his work is shit.

Tried Fell Seal yet? I heard its similar.

Real question here, are we all just the same anons circle jerking it to Tactics ogre or is it actually a relevant game in vidya history?

I've been seeing one or two threads about it every week for 7+ years now.

How to make Terror Knights not shit
>Increase their speed to be faster than a fucking Knight

It's Yas Forums, of course we're a bunch of the same losers circlejerking over shit, whether we like it or not.
That being said, it's a well beloved game outside of this place as well, even in the modern day of NEW NEW NEW.
This and FFT really earned their place in history, despite what happened later.

I rarely bother with LUCT threads - makes me try the game again after beating it once then I realize just how terrible the balance is

Terror Knights literally fucking sounded amazing when I read about rampart and how they're focused on debuffs

>lulz fuck your movement, magic accuracy and general defense, also AI will just still try to get based the terror knight because of how shit it is and it's ineffective

WHERE IS THE NEXT ACT, I WANNA SEE LANCELOT MASTER PLAN AAAAAH

You figure they would be faster than Knights given they don't use shields, but no it somehow makes them slower. Also I wish Knights could use two hand swords.

Fell seal is a great game. Its a love note to all the old tactics games. Some of the character art is cringey, but I got over it pretty quickly. Highly recommended

Have you played tKoL yet?

For real, I'm playing right now, leveling Ozma and Sherri from level 1 to the party average of 20 was a pain in the ass.

I hate to say this, but banner of the maid.

Anyone just sticked to mage, knight, and archer?

Terror knights are fucked over due to Terror Aura not being a passive anymore.

How do I make Raveness good? Rune fencer is a fucking shit class that is only good as support and falls short on both melee damage and magic damage

Such a beautiful name for a game where everyone is on opposition

Use the magic to buff.

What good buffs are there beside the haste spell and instill element?

Evade, defence, attack power, putting enemies to sleep. Even climbing height for these castle missions.

>can't compare equipment being sold in stores to what the character is using
wow fantastic game

>Front Mission. Particularly Front Mission 3 (Alisa route).
fixed for you, Emma's is pure cringe

Make her a White Knight.

Yeah, bit those buffs are split up among different elements, each requiring a slot on the skill list. Light is the most busted due to granting access to to haste, damage and heal, whereas most other elements only have damage and buffs

Isnt that a post game thing? Where the fuck to I even get the class marks for that

>every new class starts at level 1
No.

You will get a few marks when the dudes who have the class join. I forget their names but there's two of them.

Use summons. Apparently they're really good. They come late though, and level 2 is way late, like PotD. Or maybe just change her class.

Didn't they change it in the psp version?

no

No

But they certainly changed leveling in some way.

Front Mission 3 is literally the game in the series that is the least comparable to Tactics Ogre. The game that matches it the closest is Front Mission 2. FM3 is to Naruto what FM2 is to FFT

Why can't we fuck our sister in this and why there is virtually 1 or 2 lewd pics of the necromancer girl. She cute.

In the PSP remakes all classes have separate universal levels while in the original you only have character levels.
So while in the original your newly recruited characters start at low-ish levels regardless of their classes, in the PSP remakes your newly recruited characters start at the level your classes are when they get recruited.
On one hand this is good because class levels being global means that, for instance, if you did not recruit Dievold but kept leveling a terror knight, when you do recruit him in a route change he'll come up with the same level as your other TK.
On the other hand, PSP TO adds several unique classes for most uniques, which means there's simply no way to level up those classes until you actually recruit the character, so you end up with the same problem as the original game, only made more obnoxious for no good reason.
>Front Mission 3 is literally the game in the series that is the least comparable to Tactics Ogre.
Front Mission 3 is a piece of trash that somehow took several steps back coming from FM2 in pretty much everything but polycount and texture works.

>necromancer girl
because nobody fucking got her
I've seen a lot of bullshit in my time but that mission ranks pretty fucking far up there. and that's assuming you managed to unlock it. oh and I hope you grinded your galgastani rep up high enough because after all that she probably won't even join you.

I like Knight of Lodis more than LUCT

I got her in the post game with a guide, but leveling her from lvl 1 was frustrating.

Is the Android version of this any good?

Is going the law route fun enough? Should I just do it for Ravness?
