I'm glad the developers are doing things but this is far too much all at once, it's better for the players and the developers to space out content and changes instead of dumping it all at once in a massive 7GB update. Now everyone is running around not knowing what they're doing because there's a million new changes.

Games like this are only fun for a week when nobody knows what they're doing. The depth isn't there like a fighting game for protracted play and metagame development, so it just devolves into a degenerate shitfest. Same thing happened to M&B and Chivalry too.

Mount & Blade doesn't have health recovery, has faster combat, and you die quicker.
There's less emphasis on player agency in success, so your ego won't be hit as hard when you fail.

Unless you're duelling, you won't be pissed off as much.

Mordhau is fun but I don't like how outside of gimmicky meme builds loadouts variety isn't that high. There are shit tons of weapons and armor pieces but in the end it feels more like you're just fine-tuning same loadout. Different classes in Chivalry and Pirates, Vikings & Knights 2 felt less homogenized.

Normally i would avoid the word soulless, but it really applies to mordhau.
Chiv had soul, mordhau is soulless. The mercenary factions have nothing memorable about them, just red vs blue. All voice lines are on both sides. They made an attempt with the new map, since their are blue maps showing a battleplan to attacking Mountain Peak, but that is hardly the kind of story that chiv maps told

Autistic rant incoming:
Mordhau at it's core is designed for 1v1 combat.
However, the developers knew that trying to release this kind of game with just a 1v1 mode won't attract a lot of people, so they launched it with bigger maps and game modes.
Of course this causes a rift between the autistic 1v1 gameplay and the general flow of the larger maps and game modes.
To me the biggest problem with Mordhau is the basic mechanics when it comes to the three "timings": Wind-up, release and recovery.
Each weapon in the game has a set amount of time in milliseconds for these three categories.
Wind-up is the time where you're starting to swing your sword or whatever, release is when your sword is flying across the screen and the only time it can do damage, and recovery is how long before you can swing again.
This autistic timing system is why the game feels so ungratifying to play, especially because it can be almost completely ignored by swing manipulation.
It also is highly ping dependent; because it's based on actual timings, the lower your ping, the faster your inputs will reach the server, and theoretically the less time it will take for you to hit someone unless their ping is equal or better than yours.
All of this would be fine if the game was just 1v1s, but in large servers with a bunch of people, it strips away any agency you have as a player when facing multiple people, or if you have a weapon that isn't "meta" like the Warhammer.
Let me offer an anecdote: I have a Longsword. The other person has a Zweihander. We stab at the same time and have an equal opportunity to hit, I am within range of him despite his weapon having a longer reach.
On paper the Zweihander would be slower at it takes an extra 125ms for the windup phase to end compared to the longsword. However they have the same release phase of 525ms.
I get hit, for more damage of course, simply because the weapon is longer, despite being will within range to hit him first.
This is why the game fails.

where in the patch notes is this? I also use 2 crossbow build, and saw that front chase mechanic was removed meaning people dont get a speed boost charging at the front of someone holding a ranged weapon

if you're constantly in races to see who will stab first you're playing the game weirdly. having played long enough you should be getting used to what different pings feel like and how they affect your timing. some deadlock race like that wouldn't happen if you play enough because you'd know to parry or to feint your stab and crouch back it something

mordhau is not for duels, nor for large team fights. the game shines the most in small teams between 2v2 to 5v5.
