which game

>game has good and bad ending
>sequel assumes the bad ending

Therefore bad ending is true ending

>you have to read a shitty untranslated japanese light novel for the true ending

>playing the game on easy gives you the shittiest ending by default

>Important story elements intentionally left out of the game to sell drama cds.

Or the sequel is just shit.

>There is a best ending
>But the DLC kicks off at the good or neutral ending
>Making best ending noncanon

>have to get all weapons, collectibles, do all sidequest and more assorted bullshit to get the true ending
>is just a 2 minute extension of the normal ending

Beat the surge 2 a bit ago and was a good guy the entire game but at the end I didn't forgive the final boss since the first time you fight him as a boss he was annoying, this of course gave me the bad end since no choice actually mattered other than
>durrr if you kill him you are just as bad so bad ending for you
I laughed since its just kinda shitty (and the armor you get is shit also since its assless);
>Game has multiple endings
>neutral is the true end

>killing a person that is burning to death gives you a bad morale point
>sparing the guy that genocided villages gives you a good one

>Nearly all of them are the exact same with a few minor chances

>game has a good story and bad story
>when you beat them both you unlock the true story where the good and bad guys work together to face a common threat

I'm absolutely appalled this never became an actual trope in videogames

>go for the true ending
>you don't like it
>people tell you you don't understand the "artists vision"

You, I hate you the most.

Those 2 circumstances are not exclusive

earth 2020

>fallout 3 has over 100 endings

>shitpost ending is true ending

>game has several endings
>they are all terrible

>basic/''bad'' ending
>you live happily with your daughter
>true/''good'' ending
>you basicalyl wiped out all the humanity
What's funny is that I actually (fuck I hate that word lol) had conversation with people who hate multiple endings. I'll never understand them. One is the real ending, and you know which one is it, and the other are alternate/joke/whaf it, so what seems to be the problem here?

>finish game
>unlock best weapon in the game

agreed
i was worried after beating both that the game was over, but imagine the surprise in little me when it turned out the real ending was now open
unfortunately there aren't even a ton of games out there that have separate hero and villain storylines

That Mash and Jeanne are pretty cute.

>Good ending
>Some people die right now, everyone else will fucking die a few years down the road
>Bad ending
>Everyone fucking dies
>Secret hidden ending
>You dream that only some people fucking die

>You actively choose the ending in the last minute and everything you have done before was completely inconsequential

>devs insist that the shittiest ending is the canon one, despite what the community wants

>the requirements for the true ending are missable and obscure

>bad ending
>you barely live
>good ending
>you made it safely and even saved someone along the way
>"secret" bad ending that's even harder to achieve than the good ending
>AAAAAHHHH THE WORLD IS ENDING I'M GOOOOING IIINNSAAAAAANE

Attached: 1578351538960.jpg (705x527, 246.83K)

That's unironically based

>true ending is unlocked by deliberately ignoring an npc who gives you an item to help you progress through the game
>you have to continue to play throughout the game without that useful item all while making tight jumps that are almost impossible without it
>the reason you need to ignore the item is because another item won't spawn if you have that item in your inventory
>you need the other item to rescue a character who would usually die in a neutral ending playthrough
>then you have to carry that character underwater through a strong current and jump out at just the right moment or else you have to reload your save and try again because you only get one chance
>play through the rest of the game until you get to the end, then jump into a random hall in the ground

Has ANYONE gotten to Hell in Cave Story without a guide?

I'm not at all.
It's incredibly difficult to do in a not-convoluted and retarded way. Even good writers have a hard time telling one story. Branching paths? Utterly go fuck yourself.

>Cliffhanger ending
>Sequel has absolutely nothing to do with the first game

Attached: 1433319743285.gif (320x180, 2.09M)

>normal ending
>despite being weak and beset by challenges, you overcome them and girl ends up with you
>true ending
>you were a psychopath the whole time manipulating things so girl ends up with you

Shadow the Hedgehog tried to do this again but completely fucked up the execution where the majority of the routes are retconned by the real ending.

>bad ending is the most interesting one
>but the good ending is canon because devs want to rehash the story and ruin everything you liked about the first game

Attached: 1426895896603.jpg (238x357, 28.89K)

>drinking some water gives you the true ending

>keeping some junk from the beginning of the game gives you two million exp at the end

>diffrent endings got diffrent games as sequels

Attached: bucket.jpg (430x325, 41.29K)

Who gives a shit what shadow is doing? The utter Sega edge filler? Sonic is the story and whatever shits he brings with him are too. Shadow getting his own game? That's some shit that leaked out from the other timeline where shadow was actually sega's mascot.

Dishonored

Play Trauma Team. It's structured exactly like SA1.

>game has multiple endings but no replayability

Also the dreamcast was originally black in that timeline and WW3 happened like two years ago.

>you need to beat the game 2+ times to get the true ending

Attached: 1366660818421.jpg (300x313, 29.7K)

Bingo

Oh shit, that's a good precursor condition.
Chrono Trigger.

Yeah, "ruin everything you liked about the first game" seems a bit like an exaggeration, but everything else fit too well. Hopefully, if they ever make a Dishonored 3, it's set in Tyvia and has brand new characters and is unrelated to the events of the rest of the world. Also, it feels like an original story and not yet another rehash.

Holy shit how I hate "secret" endings and such crap. How the fuck would I know of the specific, sometimes timegated conditions that must be met? Oh and the "good" ending involves people dying.

Total sissy bitch.

>you have to beat the game ten times to get the true ending

Attached: shadowtrash.png (678x636, 599.06K)

Japanese people get away with being utterly pretentious because we pretend like we can't understand them. An asshole puts out shit in any language.

Shadow Hearts

>first game
>good ending is achieved by walking away after the final boss, bad ending is achieved by staying
>second game
>good ending is achieved by staying after the final boss, bad ending is achieved by walking away

Attached: 1525221942720.jpg (659x659, 98.51K)

literally steins;gate 0 but instead of assuming a bad ending they assumed the best ending (mayuri end)

Silent Hill 1 is so fucking stupid in this department. Unless you pick up a plastic bottle one-third into the game you can wave goodbye a crucial plot element that leads to the actual good ending.

>each "truer" ending has worse and worse consequences for the characters
>truest ending has everyone dying horribly
>why didn't you stop?

>game has a secret bad ending if you're extremely bad and fuck up a bunch of things

what games do the multiple endings thing well the only one I can think off is chrono trigger

Wario Land 2

>locked out of the true ending because you didn't do some obscure bullshit at the start of the game
