Best way to play unironically is via the xbone backwards compatibility because there's no shitty stuttering like the PC version and its unlocked fps so in theory when the xbox series x comes out it should run at 60 fps. I still don't know how they managed to fuck the port up so bad that it's still broken over 10 years later.

and you can put it all back for free. you can tell the record industry and their shitty licensing deals to fuck off while you keep enjoying all the music forever and having fun with video games.

you can't brute force engine flaws. you can run gta 4 on bone x and it still runs like ass you just get "better" drops of 50s to 30s instead of 30s to 10s on 360. best case scenario even on series x is you you get higher drops from 60+ to the 40s when you turn a corner.

If you can, play it on xbone backwards compatibility.
I even played through it on ps3 because I didn't want to deal with that absolutely shit pc port

I know it's for copyright reasons, but it's fucking criminal they removed songs from the soundtrack. Even if you hate the music it's a part of the tone and atmosphere of the game. How many movies have you watched where you may not have been a fan of the music but it still added to the experience? Removing it and replacing it with some generic shit only cheapens the whole game.

the publishers pay for music licenses that ultimately expire. the initial agreements are typically for 10 years and by then everyone has already played and finished the game so publishers don't feel the need to pay for a renewal and remove the music instead. it has happened to every gta game and many other games. thankfully though as previously mentioned you can restore all of it. fuck the record industry.
