Because Gothic 1 is my favorite game of all time. It's what got me really into gaming to begin with (for better or worse) and I like to replay it from time to time, for comfiness sake. Same with Secret of Evermore and VTMB. It reminds me of better, less stressful times.

I wouldn't go that far but replaying a game that I actually know I like does keep me from needlessly buying shit just because it's new when I might not actually enjoy it. I mostly just play classics and occasionally pop into the modern scene to buy a game in a series I actually like or the rare modern game that actually looks interesting or is part of a genre I enjoy. My wallet thanks me.

because I don't play games with the sole objective to beat them, I play them to have fun. Replaying them gives diminishing returns on fun but it's still fun and a while down the line I like returning to some of my favorites
