The artstyle for ToM and DQ11 is exactly what I wish we'd get for a full budget FF game. Clean, but not hyper realistic and androgynous. Then they could actually focus on important things like making the game good, the story, side content, and fun secrets.

Wonder if the game is melee biased like the original also, Kevin and Hawkeye do insane damage with their normal attacks because they hit twice

I wonder how the story plays out if someone picks a same-gender party, at it seems there's three male-female pairs that have a specific plot point attached to them. Or does it limit the story and make it seem shorter and more incomplete?

Playing with the story pairs isn't that neccesary because the other one will still show up for the important events in their storyline.

They never comment on the situation if you are all male or all female. At least not in the original. The remake looks like it has some extra banters with the party though.

To those who played the original, do non magic characters have any physical skills? Or are they just buffs and shoot magic blade beam?

Is it ok to pick classes purely by the look?

When you level up you get new techs that are like physical skills and do more than just "hit harder". As far as skills they all only learn spells... except Hawkeye, who gets stuff like Shuriken, Silver Dart, Deadly Weapon, etc, which is all just him throwing stuff at enemies.

Yeah, I know and that's cool (and the fact that all of these designs use original concept art from SD3 and not sprite recolors that were used in SNES version), just feels weird that compared to Nightblade... Avenger looks way less edgy. Like he's supposed to be T3 (or even Light branch class, although Light ones have more of an Eastern tone) and Nightblade is supposed to be T4. I guess it's cool for those who want less edgy costume to use in Dark.
Yes, because the game balance of classes was changed in remake, so nobody can tell you as which class is good and which class is bad. There's also the fact that you can carry around more than 9 items of each type (but you can still use only 9 per battle) and overall it's possible to "No Damage" the fights, thus so far game feels easier than original (but it might be different later in the game).
