I want to crawl a dungeon...

I want to crawl a dungeon. I want to descend down dozens if not hundreds of levels fighting lots of monsters and finding items. What games for this? No, I don't want to play etrian odyssey. I want to actually fight in 3D.

Wild coincidence, I was just looking around for a game like this myself. Sadly nothing really satisfies my itch for dungeon crawling. The vast majority of games like that are 2D like Binding of Issac. The closest I can find is Legend of Grimrock. Shame that no one seems to be interested in making a 3D dungeon crawler with a fantasy setting these days.

Fucking anime has ruined me for video games.

I just want to play an RPG/MMO as a bone daddy necromancer.

There was this shitty mmo from 2006 that was this exactly. Sherwood dungeon? Looking at it now it's full of cash shop garbage with no other improvements. Time to make that game buddy.

I've had the same thought.
It really feels like there should already be a game like this doesn't it?

I have that game pre-ordered
>Looks like a shitty fan attempt at a mobile game
I fucking swear I am close to cancelling that game on a daily basis.

Isn't this anime getting a game?

Hestia best girl

Yeah and it's shit.

Same here holy shit.
Ive been replaying dragons dogma but god does it fucking suck when you are doing anything outside of the town and the two end game dungeons.

It really does feel that way, yes. Blows my mind there are literally dozens of anime like this but no modern games like that. I get that there used to be a lot of games like that in the old days, especially in Japan, but due to the huge popularity of series with that premise you'd think some more games like that would be made.

FFXV had huge superdungeons, but they were all endgame and the combat is a meme.
Dragons dogma has really fun combat and two end game dungeons to mess around in.

Dragons dogma and legend of grimrock. Wizardry.

There isn't a lot. Most dungeon crawlers that aren't bargain bin weebshit are rougelikes.

I really want to make a game like that. DD combat + anime artstyle. I'm surprised that no one actually bother trying it.

If you feel like emulating, Ehrgeiz Dungeon mode was killer.

Isn't the anime shit?

The anime is good.

Oh cool. Guess I need to check it out. I heard it and the manga were trash.

It's based on a novel not a manga so maybe you're thinking of something else? The second season is really weak compared to the first though. Features lots of whores and no dungeon.

You're just describing Souls games, but nobody does the straight up or down tower climb/dungeon delve anymore because the environments get boring and consumers stopped buying that shit.

There are various nice dungeon mods for morrowind/oblivion/skyrim. Mods can be a pain in the ass, though.

Dark Cloud.

God damn them dungeons have too many floorsf

i miss etrian

Man, a DC3 would be fucking awesome.

do the nioh abyss levels, there is enough of them for you to go insane

Ehrgeiz

Baroque

I know absolutely nothing about that anime besides the chicks outfit.

Dragon's Dogma combat was so good.
An expanded Dragon's Dogma-like combat system with an endless dungeon and interesting loot would be god tier.
For me anyways.

I guess it's time to replay dragons dogma until I learn to draw and make the game myself.

Closest you got was that Wizardry Online game which ultimately was just a chinese or korean MMO design but with dungeon crawling anyway. And permadeath with paid revive items.

I'll buy your game user, one day.

Yeah the whole trope of fantasy worlds with solitary and arbitrarily high and deep dungeons mainly comes from Wizardry and Friends, and Wizardry just did that because it was a convenient way to justify a series of mazes. Really most of Japan's understanding of western pop-fantasy begins with Wizardry, and what isn't Wizardry is just D&D.

Sword art online hollow realization is or if the best dugeon crawlers from last gen. Great skill development tree and deep layered combat system that stays fun and engaging hundreds of hour in. Loot and crafting system is also well thought out and adds to the games depth

Man what a fucking weird and great game. Fucking wigger trash dickhead stole it from me in middle school. FUCK YOU JIMMY, I HOPE YOU OVERDOSED WITH THE REST OF YOUR KIND

You can also kiss little girls.

Premiere and all her clones are top tier kissable daughter waifus

It's so trashy, but it's such fun

It's got that special something. That undefinable quality that draws you to it.

RuneScape. Dungeoneering nis exactly what you describe.

The only good isekai is Maou-sama Retry

I just want a game with a huge world to explore and decent combat/loot. I've been just dumping fucking hours into MHW because it has good combat but it doesn't scratch that exploration itch

nethack
angband
slashem

all of them are free and inspired most of what you see in rpgs even today

>2D shit
Yuck.

...

Yeah, no. 3 seasons so far and only the 1st season is good. The... sides story or whatever you call it is ok to mediocre, but the latest season is a clusterfuck.

Sounds like you're describing Megaman Legends.

>absolutely loved the manga
>got excited for the anime but it ended up being near unwatchable due to having no budget
>scanlation is dead
>mfw

Last thing that was memorable for me was probably the minotaur fight. Shit was pure fucking kino.

The third season isn't even out yet is it. I agree though the sluts arc was not interesting at all. Would like more heroism and less overworld shit.

Root Chalice Dungeons + Bitterblack Isle + the cut Tower from Dragon's Dogma + 4 player co-op please

Tokyo Xanadu Ex

user that anime is retarded and you're an ape if you actually find it interesting

tl:dr
that silver haired boy joined that short stacked twintailed goddess's guild (that somehow no one joined) and crawl some dungeon in the middle of the town.
harem shenanigan ensues

Torchlight

The 0 budget just made it better
>when the elementary school band flute joins the bgm

The SAO games scratch this itch for me. Forgot which one but one of them had DLC that added a 100 floor dungeon that takes quite a bit to get through. Would love something similar to that without anime/sao tied to it
I've been craving a hunting game like freedom wars for years now. I just want that cyclical gameplay with lots of mobility and a focus on gunplay

Probably Hollow Realization. Fragment was neat, and I can see why some prefer it, but Hollow Realization is easily the most fully-realized game in the SAO line-up, and they're not even bad JRPGs. Just, awkward given the source material.

Ehergeiz: God Bless the Ring.
Quest Mode was tacked on and glorious. Still my favorite Roguelike.

Code Vein, unironically.

>tfw procedurally generated roguelikes replaced dungeon crawlers because they're cheaper to make and more popular
