Castlevania 3
Morrowind
Dragon's Dogma

BOTW

Final Fantasy Adventure/Sword of Mana (fuck you I like the remake)
Paper Mario 64, although not "fantasy" in the usual sense it has a nice kids storybook feel to it
I'm playing Crystalis now and enjoying it

Breath of Fire IV if anyone wants to know what game this is.

>tfw we'll never play BOF 3 and 4 in HD

BOF3 did it better

Kingdoms of Amalur

grandia

Xenoblade 1

For a minute I thought this was killdozer when looking at the pic from the catalog

every dragon quest

Gothic

DeS, SotC, SND

okami

I've never once felt it from a game.

Dark Souls

Ragnarok. When we just started, my friends and I would just wander through the maps with no information at all; before I started caring about grinding and shit. I still remember getting to Orc dungeon and the three of us being ten levels to low at least with garbage gear.

RO before knowing everything is amazing.

Good. BoF3 turned me into a weebfur. I don't even want to imagine what heights of degeneracy a remake would propel me into.

seconding

Little big Adventure 1 and 2 to me, maybe not much fantasy but there are some weird things there.

>No BoF2
Ah shame, would love to see black-wing Nina in that style.

Not the banality of fire series, that's for sure.

>SND
?

came here to see if this was posted

for me it was less of an "adventure" and more like "fantasy hobo simulator"

Maplestory, although that was when I was a wee kid.
I did get some great adventure vibes when I played FFXV, CrossCode and Sora no Kiseki though.

No one ever mentions Star Ocean: Second Story in these threads. I really liked that game as a kid, and it's certainly a long, grand adventure. It dips into sci-fi a lot so it's not ideal for this thread, but I feel like it's over looked a lot.
Also, Legend of Legaia and Legend of Dragoon

>linear world map with disc swapping
>adventure
lol

Where's the crt filter?

This. Golden Sun, Dragon Quest 8. Also try Rocket Knight Adventures and Astro Boy GBA, despite being platformers it feels an adventure

SaGa Frontier I & II.
It feels like a crime that this series is so unknown outside of Japan.

Runescape

RO is pretty great even after knowing everything, because each class/build can level in different places which encourages trying out different maps and party compositions, at least when playing just with a friend or two

XBC2 unironically.

Huge open world, really interesting lore, different races and their own politics and agenda. Largely lighthearted but builds to an incredibly interesting payoff.

Also: Terranigma, for reasons that shouldn't need explaining.

SKIES
OF
ARCADIA

Last I played that has that feeling was Trails in the Sky

That's some great spritework, I love shit like that.

Breath of the wild

this but unironically.
Most people who couldn't get into botw don't realize it's a hardcore adventure simulator

>One of only 3 mainstream games with the guts to do a harem ending

Based. XBC2 and Jade Empire are also great too.

Mount & Blade

I've actually been thinking about playing Breath of Fire II lately (I played the first one years ago but never finished it) but I've seen some people say it's not that good. I played a little bit of it and so far all I can say is the sprite work and animation is impressive for an snes game. Should I just say fuck it and skip to III?

My instinct is to question why that even needs to be stated when we're on a fucking video games board, who the fuck doesn't know about Breath of Fire? Then I remembered that even the "latest" game in the series is fucking 20 years old.

I thought it was fine. I'd give it a try at least. Plus it has Katt.

Skies of Arcadia

I think BoF 2 is the best one desu

I don't think it's legal to post games where publishers have completely ignored their existence and ended their series.

It's not awful but it has some annoyances. The backtracking is constant, the shaman system is wonky, and some dungeons are a slog to explore.

Bros I've never played Breath of Fire. With which one I should start?

What's the best version? 2 with re-translation?

>1
I meant snes with retranslation fuck

III is good but kind of slow with the pacing. IV is excellent as well I feel.
Yes, play the retranslation. The localization for BoFII may genuinely be the worst localization ever made. It's awful with constant errors, mistakes (yes and no are swapped randomly at times), terms being changed randomly, and more.

legendsoflocalization.com/breath-of-fire-ii-super-nes-localization-review/

Good article on just how bad BoFII's localization is, it's actually amazing how much they fucked it up.
