Well the mechanics of ultimate are really shitty so that's no surprise. Adding more characters isn't going to make the game less boring to play, you'll notice that most fighting games try add new mechanics/moves with new versions but that would never happen with smash. Ultimate is the closest you get to that if you deny it's a new game and is just a port of smash 4.
