In the 80's, up to the early 2000's, the influx of money meant that propel could experiment with making new IP's. FF7 was during the golden age of Square in the 90's, all of the live action Disney remakes were likewise from their golden age in the 90's, and so on. Companies have dystopian levels of greed and everything cost to much fucking money now. They only want to bank on shit that's 100% guaranteed to make them bank.

Not inherently, there are definitely some tracks from the original that could stand to be redone (One Who Gets in our Way comes to mind), but the remixes we have seen this far are admittedly kinda iffy. Hopefully we'll be able to toggle between the original OST and the remixed one.

Yeah, but I don't think there really is a way to satisfyingly translate the original aesthetic to a higher fidelity. Even the Smash 4 render, which is generally agreed to be the most redesign to the original, still looks off to me. There's also the whole thing about the original not having an actual character designer, which I think is one of the reasons they pushed for the redesigns. Plus I'm pretty sure this project mostly exists as training for all the new staff they hired last year
